One moment in this film that really pissed me off was Victor's drunken speech about how no one knows about the scientists who worked on Apollo 11 but everyone knows about Armstrong. He gives the implication that Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins were just a bunch of space jocks who were like "Sup, bitches! We're takin' your ride. Later nerds!" NEWSFLASH: To be an astronaut, you have to not only meet certain physical conditions, you also need to be really, really, really, REALLY smart. Astronauts usually have a Masters in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field. They also work really close with the scientists involved because THEY ARE TRAVELING IN OUTER SPACE! One needs to do extreme stretches training both physically and mentally for this because they'll be working with equipment that keeps them alive. To make a long story short (too late): F**k you, Victor! You angst-ridden, whiny, pathetic ball of nothing!
Just once, I want to see a rendition of Doctor Doom where he relies on his own intelligence and not whatever bullshit powers the screenwriters throw at him. I mean, that's sort of what makes him so cool. He doesn't have powers, but he's got a mind that is equal, possibly even superior, to Reed's.
I just want a Doctor Doom who has a super powered armor like Iron Man, uses magic like Doctor Strange and runs a motherfucking country with a death army of robot duplicates like Doctor Doom. I know, too much, but this is Doctor Doom we are talking about. He is so smart that he is able master in the fields of engineering, sorcery and politics in spite of the fact that he is technically a theoretical physicist.
+BigK13372 Agreed. I really just want a Doctor Doom movie, I don't even care that much about the Fantastic Four at this point. However, I don't think we'll ever get a good big screen version of Doctor Doom so long as it's in the hands of Fox.
Actually... the rise of Silver Surfer was the only time they got him right. I have no problem with Julian McMahon casting because he is the one I picture as Doom during his run in 'Charmed', he is likely the only good thing out of those. And they actually had him steal the power from Silver Surfer... something Doom will do, and has often done in the comics. That is as close as anyone ever got to Dr. Doom. I agree completely they shouldn't have given him any none tech power in the first one.
I actually really enjoyed the first Tim Story movie. It had flaws, but I thought they got the characters of the Fantastic Four down really well and they all had good chemistry, and it was just a really good movie to look at. The sequel was crap, but the first one really nailed a lot of stuff. And then they go with... this.
***** I've noticed more of that. WWE, the news media, FOX Studios, etc. It's like the entertainment industry has resorted to trolling their own fans just to make a buck...weird if you ask me.
MrTBoneSF According to Trank, he apparently had a different movie in mind than what the studio told him to do. So in a sense, this movie is not entirely his fault but then again he still agreed to do it.
imdb88 There are a lot of bad rumours going on about Trank on the F4 set. If there is any truth to them then he's the primary reason the movie is shit.
About Reed Richard's power. The plot must have gotten into his chamber (had to be able to stretch). For Sue Storm it was the movie's logic (you can see right through it).
I would have gone "in the same universe you have pepper pots and groot impaling people while smiling", and people laughing over this extremly violent act
***** to me the groot thing is more brutal, he spears them, with his own limb, multiple people, then smash them to the wall, and roof sure the daredevil thing is brutal but think about it groot speared them with his own limb, did he have any sensations? how did those people died out? and it is played for laughter, t is pretty damned jarring
In the beginning of the movie you see Von Doom looking at the blue prints to Reed Richards's teleporter and going all "PFFT! What is this shit!? Mere child's play. At most this will only win 2nd prize at a middle school science fair. " Richards should have just said "I'm sorry, where the hell is YOUR teleporter!? Do you have a teleporter?! "
One of the things I remember when I watched fantastic 4 i started at the point where they were getting their powers (it was on FX or something) and the movie ended and I thought "that didn't feel like a long sit." Look at the clock and I had only seen the last half hour of the movie and I was sitting there thinking "If they only got their powers in the last 30 minutes of the movie, what the fuck happened in the first hour?"
35:00 There was a lot of behind the scenes drama with the film. The director claims the studio sabotaged film with editing whereas people on set claim that the directors a lunatic and caused thousands of dollars of damage to the set well drunk.
Syphon Filter This time, yes. But FOX is stubborn; they may try just take the loss on the chin to make another attempt at a cheap corporate cash-in (which is what this is) in another 8-10 years.
Atmos Dwagon Now that I could see them doing. I do hope Stan and Marvel try to get the rights back but I think FOX would charge them too much....for what's technically Marvel's own property but that's what I see FOX doing. I really do hope this doesn't cause a domino effect and that future Marvel movies aren't hurt by this.
Syphon Filter It won't. If anything, all of Marvel's success since the previous slagheap of a Fantastic Four movie (read: Iron Man onward) makes FOX look like utter fools. (at this point, Marvel, or rather Disney, is the biggest threat to Marvel's movies right now) Comic book movies aren't just quickie cash-grab genre pieces, they're producing some of the most powerful and profitable films in the past decade. (only Cameron's Avatar has commanded more in that time, IIRC). FOX may attempt at cashing in on their popularity, but if their box-office earnings THIS year are anything to go by, then it's proof that at least that target audience isn't being fooled as much as FOX wants.
You are right Dave, the 64 had a processor speed of around 100 mhz, while the xbox had a speed of 773, you would need 8 64s to equal one xbox, but the biggest problem is that a n64 cannot be linked together they way an xbox can, the xbox was a PC, the n64 was a "game console", it was designed to process 3d graphics at a time when we barely had a grasp 3D, Nintendo did its best to "shortcut" a system to do this, and you would be hard pressed to get the 64 to do anything but process vertices.
Brandon Jones Sorry, but as a guy that loves Marvel movies like The Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, I thought Man of Steel was a much better movie than Iron Man 3.
+nunouno001 That's not bizarre. I would have argue that MOS would have been better received if Nolan would have directed, at least Superman would not have killed Zod. (spoiler alert)
neosoontoretro I can agree with that. Actually Superman killing Zod didn't bother me, at least not in the way it bothered everyone else. My problem with that scene is that it was a pointless action, by that point thousands of people had already died so I didn't see any significance in seeing Superman saving a few random people we knew nothing about. Also the fact that he never once considered any other plan to stop Zod, like the one that HISHE parodied, either makes Superman the dumbest or the most careless superhero ever. When he killed Zod, I honestly said: "Why didn't you just do that sooner?" My other problem is that it made no impact on the story or on Superman's character. We see Superman screaming and then transition to him destroying a military drone and making jokes. Then we see him getting a job at the Daily Planet, btw when did he ever go to college, and the entire city has been rebuilt. It's like it never happened which I found to be really insensitive. Granted I'm sure that Batman V Superman will address these issues, but it won't help make Man of Steel a better movie because it refused to addressed its own flaws. It just said screw it we'll deal with it in the sequel, and I find that to be cheap and lazy. But yes I do agree that had Nolan directed MoS it would have at been better visually and much less bombastic.
How is it out of ALL the Fantastic Four movies, the Roger Corman one has the most heart? I mean yeah it's cheap but dammit the people in production CARED. And they did that one as a throw-away to get to the "good ones" later?
The Dark Knight Rises falls into the third instalment trap of being unfocused and a bit bloated, but it's better than Spiderman 3, At World's End, The Last Stand, Back to the Future 3, and Jurassic Park III, etc, etc, etc.
I find At World's End to be pretty much on the same level of the rest of the trilogy, but that's probably just my preference. I think the reason it might feel bloated is because it can't be as subversive as the other two. It doesn't rely on satire of movie conventions as much as the other two do, thanks to it being a somewhat different type of narrative from most genre films.
For a second there I thought you were referring to "The World's End" and was about to go on a long diatribe about it being better than Shaun of the Dead and just as good as Hot Fuzz. Never mind.
@@wjzav1971 It was OK overall and better on rewatch, ending neatly enough, but I thought it (and Part 2) suffered somewhat from time travel plotting too clever for its own good.
This movie is a perfect representation of so much going wrong behind the scenes, go read about it. It's pretty interesting especially Josh Trank losing his mind.
How the Hell is it that after all these years, the best thing we've got for Fantastic 4 is the parody of the characters on Venture Brothers? The "Twenty Years to Midnight" episode alone is probably a better F4 movie than what we've been getting (with some Johnny Quest thrown into the mix, because Go Team Venture!).
I wonder if James Gunn has any interest in directing an MCU Fantastic Four movie? He does a great job with the dysfunctional family of super adventurers concept in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, so he could probably do a decent job with the original superhero family.
The best Batman movies are animated, not live-action. Mask of the Phantasm, Return of the Joker, and Under the Red Hood are better than any of the live-action movies.
Matthew Cavalier The best Superman product was the 1940s Fleischer's Studios cartoons in my opinion. In those cartoons, not only was the animation fantastic (done similar to the artistic styles used in Fantasia), but Superman wasn't anywhere near as OP as he is in anything afterwards. My favorite episode being The Magnetic Telescope. (here's a link to the wikipedia article in the case that you're curious as to how the plot goes) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magnetic_Telescope#Plot
+Matthew Cavalier I respect the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini cartoons, but they're not my favorites. I still like the Nolan films quite a bit. Even Dark Knight Rises for all its flaws is a killer film and much better than it's given credit for.
Thank you man sometimes i feel like im the only one on the planet who likes it my dad who grew up with superman really liked it so i dont get why everyone hates it man i dont think it deserves that much hate somr people loathe man of steel like its the plaque
Dylan thomas It's kinda odd, Man of Steel is a pretty polarising movie, at least in the internet. There are always a lot likers and dislikers of that movie arguing wherever it gets named. I wonder what sites you visit to only have seen these who dislike it. But yeah I didn't like it either, watched it in cinema but shifted my focus on my PSP after 25 minutes.
+Dylan thomas There were PARTS of it I liked. If you take out the context behind why it is happening, the Zod vs Superman fight is amazing. We really have never seen such a destructive battle in live action before. I like the performances. I think that it's an interesting take on Superman, but all in all, I don't think Snyder understands the character at all. MoS felt like his emo fanfiction version of the characters.
kidkouga Thanks, but I went to see it anyway (I know, I know). Breaks my heart a cast this good was wasted with a script that sucked. Fox is better off just giving the property back to Marvel.
My bad, they will get the rights back, it's just a matter of when
6 років тому
kid kouga They got the rights back... kinda. They had to buy 20th Century Fox from Rupert Murdoch to get back the film rights to the Fantastic Four and X-Men.
I predict you'll be able to copypaste the audio of this review over a review of the upcoming Power Rangers film.

That's kinda what I think, too. A trailer for it came on yesterday while I was watching an episode of "South Park" and I had only one thought in mind: "Oh God, this might be the next 'Fant4stic.'"
***** I don't mind the show, but how the hell can you squeeze a two hour movie out of it? Is it just like a bunch of the shorts, or is it completely different?
I've never read a fantastic 4 comic, and I was kinda young when the other movies came out, and I remember liking them as far as a younger person watching a super hero movie goes. I don't think they were AWFUL. I recognize they're not good NOW, but I guess nostalgia won't let me say they're bad
The engineers actually got their own episode of From The Earth To The Moon. Think it's five or six; the title is Spider. It's about the construction of the LEM.
Comic book villains are something that can make or brake the movie for me. Case in point I didn't really care for the Dark Knight but Ledger was awesome! Dr Doom is one of my favorite villains and the fact no movie has yet gotten him right is a tragedy! Ps, I hated the second X-Men movie for getting Lady Deathstrike wrong.
Way to go Fox. You cancel Firefly, you removed Sentinels(in the 2000s), you killed Die Hard, and now you've proven X Men is the only superhero property you can make, and even then, only because X Men has not dipped as low as FF has
As someone that has seen both of these movies, your comment that Man of Steel was a worse movie is baffling to me. In Fantastic Four, we have a movie that's 106 minutes long, and I couldn't tell you where the time went. None of the conversation serve much purpose. With the exception of Jamie Bell's Ben Grimm and Michael B Jordan Johnny Storm, the characters are all awful, unlikable people. Reed Richards is a dick in this movie. There are virtually no redeeming qualities about the movie, except for the effects. Man of Steel had a plot and character motivations that made sense, at least most of the time, and I know people complain about the wrong tone, but Superman has always been a symbol of hope for the non-powered civilians to rally to and look up to. Why the hell would anyone need a symbol of hope in a super-happy funtime world full of rainbows and butterflies? The movie is serious because they are dealing with serious things. It's telling the origin of Superman, not just an introduction to the character.
I still think the Director's Cut of the 2005 FF was a decent start. I am baffled at how the sequel, with Julian Von Doom, and a space cloud is considered a better movie. 2005 had the characters recognizable, had humor, and was willing to be absurd.
I have watched fan4stic about 6 or 7 times now... And I can't work out how it was so bad, it is my go-to film I use to compare how bad a film is. I could see a fantastic 4 film that is dark where you take the group getting super powers, and then have the Thing being miserable and seeking some way out, whilst the others are learning how to use there powers. I could imagine a high concept 60s B movie homage where they face off against the mole man's monsters, or Namor shows up and calls Reed a dick for trying to do science on the sea. I mean these are ideas I literally pulled out of my ass. But I watch this film and wonder what it was trying to be, like a puzzle missing the the box and 1/4 of the pieces are missing... I hope they make a documentary about it like they did with island of Dr monreau
As a kid, when I heard Superhero I thought, Superman, Spiderman, Batman and in a way Hulk (wasn't sure if he qualified as a superhero in the classical sense). I never only though of the DC characters.
I swear I knew this movie was gonna suck, but when I saw this (out of curiosity) it ruined that month for me. I think the thing that bothered me the most was the fact that everybody involved with this film clearly did not give a shit. I totally agree with you guys on this one.
As a non-comic fan I have a quick question: Has there been any good interpretation of the team outside of the comics? Every cartoon, movie, and series based around the F4 gets heavily criticized for poor characterization and being tone deaf. Even the comics don't seem immune to this treatment, if some critics are to be believed.
kelly beck The cartoon from the 60's wasn't too bad - it's kind of cheesy but so were the comics then. The 70's cartoon was good, except for the inexplicable Herbie the Robot. The comics in the late 70's and 80's got the right balance between humor and seriousness.
culwin what about them in avengers earth mightiest heroes? they were in the background and some were in a few eps, like the time johnny and ben played poker with someone
44:00 I hate the Singer X-men movies. The only X-men movie I actually liked was Vaughn's First Class. Then the sequel was delayed in favor of JLaw doing her Running Man remake series. So Vaughn wanted to do Kingsmen while he waited. And as soon as he started that, FOX wanted to start the sequel, and brought back the guy who did the first two bad but not terrible X-men movies - Singer. Who immediately tied First Class to his continuity. Bringing down the one good movie in the franchise.
Well, it’s official. Disney owns 20th Century Fox now, meaning all that effort of making four Fantastic Four movies (one of which was made by Roger Corman and didn’t even get a theatrical release) just to keep the film rights was for nothing.
I liked the Tim Story better then Corman one. I never thought Corman one would be one that have one made worse then it. I joked about it considering everything I was reading about. The casting, the story, the director. Then the trailer and I went "OH FUDGE this is going to hurt" And looks like its true. Also I saw a photo of Doom in the movie. He looks like a Husk from Mass Effect Trilogy.
At the very least, getting the movie rights back to Marvel means that they can use Kang in Avengers and Annihilus and the Skrulls in Guardians of the Galaxy.
imdb88 Okay, that's one. Red Skull is *technically* around since Hugo Weaving's contracted for more movies, but has said he really doesn't want to return to the character since the prosthetics were a major hassle and very uncomfortable. We have Thanos only by virtue that he hasn't got started yet. Other than that every villain they've introduced has been killed off by the end of the movie.
So, four movies down and all of 'em sucked. Honestly, I cannot think of any other super hero franchise that was THIS cursed, hell not even the Punisher movies were this badly cursed. Then again, I heard a rumor that apparently this movie was supposed to be Chronicle 2, but they pretty much nuked the script/concept and said "No, make this into a Fantastic Four movie"
This darkness and tone is suited for the DC Fantastic four, (( well, actually fantastic four is the marvel Doom Patrol)) Doom Patrol which is supposed to be creepy and scary. They're outcasts while the Fantastic four are celebrities
Agree (though technically Fantastic Four came first making Doom Patrol the DC Fantastic Four, while X-Men is the Marvel Doom Patrol, and Fantastic Four is the Marvel Challengers of the Unknown). A series whose heroes are 100% outcast, a darker origin that is caused by the one who formed the team, villains that are completely deranged, mind screws, body horror, and the fact they all died at the end is definitely Fantastic Four done by David Cronenberg.
You know, with Disney owning Fox now, there's a chance we might get a good Fantastic Four movie yet. I bet they might even try to incorporate them into the MCU in a few years.
The reason Michael Chiklis was so good as The Thing is because it was a part he'd wanted to play since he was in college.

Mask of the Phantasm is a pretty accurate adaptation of the character.
Why can't they just pull a Deadpool and find some actors who are passionate about Fantastic Four and listen to the fucking fans?
Sequel comes out June 9th 2017.
God help us all.
Oscar M Trust me, it aint happening...
SuperSaiyaMan That and the critical reception. They may make another just to keep the rights, however.
SuperSaiyaMan Hopefully not.
Oscar M Nope they are giving Deadpool 2 that spot now.
greed13X Thank God.
I really don't understand why everyone hates Man of Steel. I loved it!
I just realized we're two weeks past the date that was originally set for this movie's sequel O_o
No Shaun the Sheep review? It's really good.
There probably wasn't a prescreening, there will probably be a review tomorrow
Matthew Cavalier Dude, Return of The Joker. The real hero was Ace, without him, Terry would've be dead.
Matthew Cavalier Year One was good too, but I hated the voice of Batman in that. It was like he wasn't even trying
Matthew Cavalier yup mask of the phantasm remains my favorite batman movie ever
+Matthew Cavalier I respect the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini cartoons, but they're not my favorites. I still like the Nolan films quite a bit. Even Dark Knight Rises for all its flaws is a killer film and much better than it's given credit for.
am i the only one who likes man of steel i mean i feel like i am
Dylan thomas
I liked it. Surprised about the amount of hate it's getting.
Thank you man sometimes i feel like im the only one on the planet who likes it my dad who grew up with superman really liked it so i dont get why everyone hates it man i dont think it deserves that much hate somr people loathe man of steel like its the plaque
Some
Dylan thomas It's kinda odd, Man of Steel is a pretty polarising movie, at least in the internet.
The way they talk about the "green slime" on Planet Zero makes it sound like the ooze from the old school TMNT
I have tix to see FF on Monday...I'm just here to be entertained by Brad & Dave for an hour. XOXO
***** please return them... you have a 9 out of 100 chance of liking this
kidkouga Thanks, but I went to see it anyway (I know, I know). Breaks my heart a cast this good was wasted with a script that sucked. Fox is better off just giving the property back to Marvel.
48:57 Does Iron Fist count?
I guess we just have to accept the fact that the Fantastic Four are cursed when it comes to movies.
maugos If Marvel get's the rights back, I'd bet against that
kidkouga Unfortunately, that's a pretty big if. :(
My bad, they will get the rights back, it's just a matter of when
kid kouga They got the rights back... kinda. They had to buy 20th Century Fox from Rupert Murdoch to get back the film rights to the Fantastic Four and X-Men.
Wherner Von Braun - See I remember an Engineer!
Did they change the years for the Blu-Ray release? It said it was ten/eleven years ago, not a specific year.
Is Brian wearing a Heavy (the band) t-shirt?
I left when the little F stayed on the screen at the logo fade to black.
the guy in the gray shirt
looks and sounds
like the guy from
THE MOVIE VAULT
KILLER CARS
This is one of those movies where the documentary about how it got made is a way better movie
This would have been a bit better, if the story revolved around Doctor Doom.
And his adventures in that Planet.
XD
I predict you'll be able to copypaste the audio of this review over a review of the upcoming Power Rangers film.
That's kinda what I think, too. A trailer for it came on yesterday while I was watching an episode of "South Park" and I had only one thought in mind: "Oh God, this might be the next 'Fant4stic.'"
DreamSword wrong
So Dragon Ball is the best movie this week. Money well spent.
They made a fucking *Shaun the Sheep* movie?
Goddammit, BBC...
***** I don't mind the show, but how the hell can you squeeze a two hour movie out of it? Is it just like a bunch of the shorts, or is it completely different?
Distracted Globe Productions It's an original story.
Distracted Globe Productions It has a 99% on RT.
The whole losing the science fair thing in the movie is so something from The Simpsons but bland.
he sounds like a psychopath with that LAUGH....HAHAHAHAHA ლ(`∀´ლ)
Am I writing on the internet yet?
Sorry to hear you came back for that shit.
I've been waiting for this video since I first saw the trailer for it. Knew it would be a trainwreck
As a kid, when I heard Superhero I thought, Superman, Spiderman, Batman and in a way Hulk (wasn't sure if he qualified as a superhero in the classical sense).
I never only though of the DC characters.
To be fair, it's an okay adaption of ultimate fantastic four in the sense that they took things straight from the comics.
I swear I knew this movie was gonna suck, but when I saw this (out of curiosity) it ruined that month for me. I think the thing that bothered me the most was the fact that everybody involved with this film clearly did not give a shit. I totally agree with you guys on this one.
+Chris Wingreen I disagree. It looked like they were trying, but just fucked up at every turn.
The incredibles or whats its name did it justice
kelly beck The cartoon from the 60's wasn't too bad - it's kind of cheesy but so were the comics then.
Also there's the second season of the 90s cartoon which just like the Iron Man cartoon is an improvement to season 1
I'm CERTAIN that this movie only exists so that Fox can hold onto the film rights for the Fantastic 4.
What if John Cusak (sp.?) were to have a role in a David Cronenberg movie?
That "2007" flashback looked more like an episode of Stranger Things directed by 80's Joe Dante and produced by 80's Steven Spielberg
TURN ON A LIGHT!
The opening monologues to X-Men, X2, DOFP, Spider-Man, and Spider-Man 2 are more watchable and interesting than this entire fucking movie.
At the very least, getting the movie rights back to Marvel means that they can use Kang in Avengers and Annihilus and the Skrulls in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Thing was entirely CGI in this movie done with motion capture. This wasn't an Iron Man situation.
Fuck F4, just give Marvel Doom, Silver Surfer, and Galactus.
akba666 After this travesty (which I don't plan on seeing BTW), I think Marvel will get them back soon enough.
akba666 I'd say yes if Marvel didn't have this annoying tendancy to kill off their villains.
DragonNexus Loki is still around.
imdb88 Okay, that's one.
Red Skull is *technically* around since Hugo Weaving's contracted for more movies, but has said he really doesn't want to return to the character since the prosthetics were a major hassle and very uncomfortable.
We have Thanos only by virtue that he hasn't got started yet.
Other than that every villain they've introduced has been killed off by the end of the movie.
akba666 and Kang. He needs to be an Avenger villain before I can die happy!
You have no idea how much I wanted to punch the wall after watching this fucking movie.
4:20 Mask of the Phantasm?
Sounds like Dave'll get his wish
If Burton's Batman or Nolan's Batman is the "Batman movie" that you're looking for then I have no idea what you're idea of a Batman movie is.
it did not get played in the cinemas right.
This movie missed 2009 emo culture by a couple years...
So what does the future of the Fantastic 4 look like now that Marvel owns them?
You know, with Disney owning Fox now, there's a chance we might get a good Fantastic Four movie yet. I bet they might even try to incorporate them into the MCU in a few years.
See, guys? Don't hate fantastic four because human torch is black! Hate it for being a horrible movie
Exactly. If Johnny Storm had been white it would not have sucked any less.
24:22 coulda swore you said "beating taints up and shit"
