Yeah that was something I noted when I first saw the movie. A college professor is, technically, not allowed to do that. He may make comments and/or theme some of his things on his personal views but he cannot enforce them or grade students based on that, that is illegal. I remember there was something in the papers that the teacher would give us at the beginning of the semester that said they can't do that and thats how I know the plot of this movie is bs.
@KarnRulez, Well, a university can't know what you actually believe, that's in your head. They can insist on what you say/write though, hence they can only make you pretend to be religious or atheist. That's not to say that some/many/most people writing those things don't genuinely believe them, just that the university has no way of knowing.
If none of the University faculty or staff were present for the lectures, and if none of the classmates reported it to the Dean's Office, then the professor can pretty much do whatever the fuck he wants.
On the other hand, (A) this movie was not intended for people who know anything about college. (B) you could totally pull the reverse of this shit at a religious "school" like Bob Jones or Pensacola, so *obviously* this must happen all the time in them there liberal art colleges. It's right there in the name!
I've seen several movies of various quality and I've never hated them. This movie is the first movie that I've ever walked out in the middle of in anger.
The actor who plays the Muslim father in the movie made a comment about that scene where he kicks his daughter out. Apparently the original script called for an honour killing and he talked them out of it.
Fun fact I recently learned: Glenn Beck actually had a very similar opinion of this movie! Apparently he left half way through after realizing the movie was just meant to demonize everyone who didn't fit a very particular concept of Christianity.
I don't understand how the argument of "there needs to be God for morals to exist" since plenty of civilizations like the Native Americans, Greeks, Romans and pretty much all of East Asia had similar (and by today's standards, often _better_) moral beliefs without having come in contact with the Torah or any form of the Bible. If the argument is "God instills morals into people, and without him we'd be savage" then that becomes a whole other argument about what the nature of humans is. Also, since a lot of animals have a sense of "morals" (i.e. Most of them won't kill their own species for no reason) you'd have to get into the argument of if animals are considered influenced by god or if only people are special (with the Bible leaning more towards the latter).
Nearly all of the most infuriating beliefs about the human condition (religion in particular) depend upon the belief that humans are in some way "God's favorite species".
Native Americans believe in a Great Spirit. Greeks and Romans not only believed in gods instilling morality, but they also believed that atheists were immoral. East Asia sought the "Mandate of Heaven" to approve secular rulers. In fact, that whole "there needs to be God for morals to exist" is as much a pagan argument as it is a Christian argument. Part of the reason why the Christians were persecuted was because they didn't worship the pagan gods, which made the Romans think they were immoral. Godlessness was something that the pagans saw as a disease that cannot be tolerated, lest it destroy society. Looking at the results of the godless 20th century, where more deaths happened than almost any other human century, it seems that these pagans might be correct. No pagan Emperor, Crusader, or Jihadist could ever fart out something as bad as the Holodomor or the Great Leap Forward.
23:40 Yeah I started to read the Quran out of curiosity. And there are lots of references to stories from Judaism and Christianity. Essentially it seems to expect the reader to already be familiar with older biblical stories. Very similar religions indeed.
+MsDjessa The reason for that is, that Mohammed was heavily inspired by those two monotheistic religions when he came up if his own. He also needed to base his new religion on Judaism to a certain degree because Medina was a town with many Jews living there and he wanted to incorporated them into it and make it easy for them to convert. That of course didn't happen and lead to a lot of conflict, the rest is history.
It more of the challenges how God is worshipped which is why there is so much conflict between religion. I don't care because either way you worship God.

Fun fact about Red State: It was originally supposed to end with a giant sepharim descending from heaven, fully decked out in battle gear and landing directly between the pastor and the ATF agent (John Goodman's character). The pastor was supposed to immediately start declaring victory and preaching about how "God was here to protect the faithful and destroy the wicked" ...right before the sepharim looks down, spears him on his 20 foot sword, and hurls his body off into the distance. Sadly they later realized that this scene would be over 80% of the budget of the movie so they changed it.
I was visiting my dad one Friday, and he asked me if I wanted to watch this movie with him and my step-mom at the theater. I never heard of it, but I thought I'd give it a chance. Man, I left the theater feeling insulted, and this is coming from a Christian. This movie ranks up there with other garbage movies like Epic Movie and Baby Geniuses, but while those other films are just stupid and pander to the lowest common denominator, this "movie" was just propaganda.

They don't care about quality in Christian movies, they only care about the message, and the fact that it is a Christian movie. I haven't seen this movie, but I probably will someday just so I can have my own critical opinion... But just listening to Brad & Dave, holy shit this sounds horrible... Something I really like about this video is that it shows me more of Dave's personality. I'm an atheist and the way I think about religion is very similar to Dave's opinion. I don't care for it, but I'm pretty reasonable. If someone believes and they feel it makes them feel good, I say go ahead. Just don't treat people badly who don't believe and don't try to force something on them that they don't want. I don't believe in God but I don't attack people for being religious... In the end, I think it comes down to being respectful... I like Dave, he's pretty firm in his opinions, but reasonable to an extent. And to answer why so many characters do dumb things in movies, simply put... That's how they were written!
Please make sure you don't give them any money for it. Subscription services, pay-per-view, & TV w/ commercials count toward their profits so avoid watching it that way. Get it via torrent or borrow it from a library. I'm Christian, & I don't want to support the messages in this movie!!
Remember when we had really good biblical stories in movies like The 10 Commandments or The Prince of Egypt. Even as an Evangelical, it honestly pisses me off when people try to guilt trip me into liking a movie just because it talks about God. Seriously, these things can't and shouldn't be forced down your throat!
Dave, I have high respect for you. I'm a strong Christian, but also a rationalist. Now, the dumb fundamentalists I grew up with taught that all atheists were malicious, arrogant jerks; and I've personally known or heard from a bunch of arrogant and insane anti-theists. Dave, I often see that you are stressed, angry, disappointed, and cynical, and-- although we're never going to agree on theology-- we have those other things in common. I think I understand you as a person, and I easily see why you are an atheist. You are probably a jerk a lot of the time (and so am I), but your well-meaning and relative humility makes me respect you a ton. Depending on the details, a religion doesn't have to be absurd. I believe I know my religion well enough to be able to defend it with logic, but that's just me. There's no excuse for people giving a good faith a bad reputation through bad reasoning, and there's no reason a person of no faith can't be better than a person of a faith. People should strive to be truthful, intelligent, and helpful regardless of what they believe. And because of that, we have more in common than I have with many or most Christians.
I'm a devout Christian as well. Our religion doesn't define us. I've realized changing people's minds is such a silly effort to make in this world. My hope is to encourage people to think for themselves in whatever they do. It's amazing to me how many people who say they are Christians don't even act like it. They spend all their time trying to trick, strong arm, and emotionally manipulate people into believing what they do. Obviously, it's not just Christians who do this, but it hits close to home for me, since the concept of "love" is the very foundation of Christianity. There is a chapter in the bible that lists off all these things that people would think were wonderful and prove how great you are, and then it says, "If I do all these things but don't have love, I'm worthless". A pretty clear idea, and something I don't see practiced.
Around the time this movie was made I had a friend who was deeply religious and kinda sorta tried converting me. I saw this while flipping through my On Demand section and thought "...Interesting. Maybe I'll watch it." Didn't feel like spending 5 bucks so didn't watch it. I think I made the right choice.
If you need religion to be moral, then you must not have very strong morals. Sometimes it's ok to do good things just for the sake of it, or even for admittedly selfish reasons. Not just because you want to be rewarded or avoid punishment :/
Well, sad thing is, when we do have atheist countries, they either wind up bankrupt (EU) or murderous (Red China/USSR). So it does seem that mankind doesn't have strong morals. Atheists can only prosper under Christian lands, and when given lands of their own, they make nothing but hell for themselves. Speaking as someone who gets crowded with the stench of humanity in an everyday basis, yes, humans have very weak morals and usually need something like the police or religion to keep them in check.

I've watched this review and the Cinema Snob one of this movie and it looks fucking ridiculous. I always roll my eyes whenever religious people go on and on about proving their faith. It's like, "You totally missed the point of what having faith means, didn't you?" And if someone's opinion is so flimsy it would be changed in one debate, maybe their faith isn't as strong as they like to think it is.
IDK if it was intentional, but this movie also subtly makes the point that people are going to college w/o even having a basic education. Remember the young woman who seemed confused about the People's Republic of China, and the other young woman who was sitting next to Kevin Szorbo who asked some question that any college freshman ought to know and Szorbo has this incredulous look on his face!

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure God's Not Dead is grammatically correct. The apostrophe stands for "Is" when used as a possessive or something, I think, so it would be basically "God is not dead", which is correct. I think. The alternative would be "Gods not dead", which would be a weird fragment sentence about multiple gods who are not dead used incorrectly since "The gods aren't dead" would be more correct in that case.
Really, it should have just been called "God *ISN'T* Dead," since "isn't" is a proper contraction of "is not" and it avoids the whole issue completely.
+TheHotFalafel it's the movies attempt at one of those 'gotcha moments' The film was designed to satiate conservative Christian's misconceptions of Atheism, by downplaying the actual reasons why some people are atheists. It's this constant obfuscation is why so many Christians have difficulty at understanding what Atheism is.
Another great Midnight Screening on another creepy Christian movie. I enjoyed the MSs on War Room and Old Fashioned more but still: amusing and interesting! I wrote a lot about my opinion below your Cinema Snob review, so here I just add: Thanks! I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing the Kraftwerk clone band and the suspiciously great animations in Josh's presentation (which he had to put together in a short time). Also if I was among the students and had to stand up saying "God's not dead", I would stand up shouting "I AM BRIAN" and it would fit - a reference to a wonderful movie warning about religious fanatism.
You guys should really check out Julia X. Sorbo plays a serial killer that hunts and then gets caught by a pair of sisters who are also serial killers/vigilantes and has some really good dialogue as he darkly manipulates them even while he's the captive.
I appreciate that Dave and Brad clearly state that not all Atheists and Christians are fucking nuts...it is just a shame that the ones that are are usually the loudest so people get that mindset of them. And I guarantee that a lot of churches bussed entire congregations in here to see this movie as it "is their duty" I remember when Fire Proof came out the church I was at told all of us (on several sundays) to go see and support that movie.
My Philosophy 1 class was an introduction to the basics, i.e the Greeks and the famous paradoxes, writing short papers about rationale in general, going over every major Western philosopher and school of thought up until the Postmodern era, then a final paper/essay. At no point does the school require you to sign a statement formally renouncing Jesus or whatever.
The professor in this movie did say "you can still pray in your dorm." He wasn't telling people to forget your religion, but just pretend to forget it for class.

It's so funny that they prove Sorbo isn't an atheist right off the bat by him believing "God is dead". The first 2 words of that mean he is a theist since he then believes that a God existed at some point in time. He's not talking about some fictional character like saying "the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is dead" when talking about the good Ghostbusters movies; he literally is saying "God is" and affirming a positive belief in a deity; later on in the movie going as far as narrowing it down to a specific diety. If the God of the Bible died he would probably end up in his fictional lake of fire lol. This show is like a feature length Chick Tract with less racism.

Plus, if he's a philosophy professor, he should know the context of the quote he's using: "God is dead. He remains dead, and we killed Him." That was a commentary on human morality, not a promotion of atheism. This coming from both a Christian and a lover of common sense, these characters should know that blindly quoting things without context doesn't make you look smarter, and that goes for both parties.

A guy berates his girlfriend for having cancer. The same guy ridicules his mother with dementia. This should the guy from a horror movie that I want brutally killed in a horror movie. What an @$$! The girl is portrayed as a cruel blogger and she gets cancer. Is that telling the audience to not be her type of person or you'll receive a punishment in the form of a deadly ailment? Your longtime girlfriend dumps you because you are defending your faith in a college course. Ok, she's a complete jerk for not even attempting to support him but to say that it is driving a wedge in their relationship when it is his class and his fight and has nothing really to do with her? A professor teaches and flat out tells people to destroy their faith in God (this would go for any religion) or they will fail the course all the while belittling and abusing his significant other for her own beliefs. Why did he hook up with her then? And that kind of teacher would be cast out his job for trying to do something like that in a public university setting. The opposite would hold true for somebody trying to force a certain religion into a public school science class. In a public setting, teachers can't restrict students religious rights or deny their religious rights. That is pure BS. But putting that aside, this professor decides to seek redemption and try to make amends with his significant other. What ends up happening...he is killed in a car accident and converts to Christianity upon death. WHY? Why did he have to die? The guy was on the path to redemption and might have chosen to convert while still living. What bothers me most about this is that he did not need to die to be Christian but that seems to be one of the messages I'm getting here. What kind of message is that? My understanding is that Jesus died for our sins so that no further sacrifice would be necessary. This scene completely unhinges that sacrifice and goes against everything I believe in. You want to be saved? Ok, just commit suicide or have someone kill you. WHAT? If God is not dead why are there people in this movie who don't receive some sort of redemption. Why did the jack@$$ who belittled his mom and said his girlfriend was wasting his time with her cancer not find a good resolution? Why did the professor need to die? Why was something as inconvenient as car trouble for a trip to Disney thrown into a mixing of other subplots that were supposed to have more weight on the characters? Why even throw them into the story when it seems to want the Josh kid to be the main character? Oh and everyone who doesn't believe in God is apparently a complete jerk in this movie. I'd rather watch The messages of holding onto your faith in face of adversity or trying to convince others that your cause is justified are fine on their own but this movie delivers it very poorly. Honestly, if you want a better way to be brought into believing God is not dead read the Bible. It is far more enlightening than this movie. Even if you are not a believer, I'd rather read a book than let my brain ooze out of my ears over watching the stupidity and downright mean-spirited environment that this movie is showing. Or go watch The Room. That's at least so bad it's funny.
They've got more conviction on their stances about places like Chick-fil-A than I do. Don't get me wrong, I hate Dan Cathy's stance on same-sex marriage, but damn it, I love Chick-fil-A's food! (That being said, I'm more firm in not supporting anything by Orson Scott Card).
As a Christian, I don't particularly enjoy seeing God represented so terribly in these movies, and wow, the directing was so lazy. I guess they didn't feel the need to create something of good quality for their audience... 😒

The highlight of this movie for me was the two songs that band played at the concert at the end that's it, if someone is atheist they are gonna be offended by this flick and they have every right to be.
I'm pretty certain the muslim girl thing is 'based' on a 'true story'. Rifqa Bary, a young girl who ran away from home crying abuse because this handsome young pastor converted her to Christianity and convinced her to betray her parents. It turned out that not only did they not know she was Christian, but they knew she was a cheerleader and were very proud of her. But she lied a bunch to become a celebrity of the cause and made her parents lives hell.
The entire time I was watching this I was thinking Man I wish I was watching Hercules right now. Also replace god with Zeus and the professors motivation makes alot more sense.
Being an atheist doesn't automatically mean you think death is the end. There's nothing about an afterlife that absolutely requires there to be a god of some sort.
I think he meant to say empirical evidence, but fucked up. I let it slide, 'cause my folks brow-beat me into watching this as well. Man, proper grammar and semantics was the least of my concerns after that. Was more concerned with an intervention with my folks and their taste in movies.
To be fair the main character admitted you cannot prove God exists. He just wanted to make it clear you cannot disprove him either and it all revolves around faith.
Just for the record, I'm a Muslim kid born and raised in a Muslim house, and my sister married a Christian. My sister remains to this day *unslapped*.

+MsDjessa The reason for that is, that Mohammed was heavily inspired by those two monotheistic religions when he came up if his own. He also needed to base his new religion on Judaism to a certain degree because Medina was a town with many Jews living there and he wanted to incorporated them into it and make it easy for them to convert. That of course didn't happen and lead to a lot of conflict, the rest is history.

Fun fact about Red State: It was originally supposed to end with a giant sepharim descending from heaven, fully decked out in battle gear and landing directly between the pastor and the ATF agent (John Goodman's character).
The pastor was supposed to immediately start declaring victory and preaching about how "God was here to protect the faithful and destroy the wicked" ...right before the sepharim looks down, spears him on his 20 foot sword, and hurls his body off into the distance.
Sadly they later realized that this scene would be over 80% of the budget of the movie so they changed it.

I was visiting my dad one Friday, and he asked me if I wanted to watch this movie with him and my step-mom at the theater. I never heard of it, but I thought I'd give it a chance.
Man, I left the theater feeling insulted, and this is coming from a Christian. This movie ranks up there with other garbage movies like Epic Movie and Baby Geniuses, but while those other films are just stupid and pander to the lowest common denominator, this "movie" was just propaganda.

I haven't seen this movie, but I probably will someday just so I can have my own critical opinion... But just listening to Brad & Dave, holy shit this sounds horrible...
Something I really like about this video is that it shows me more of Dave's personality. I'm an atheist and the way I think about religion is very similar to Dave's opinion. I don't care for it, but I'm pretty reasonable. If someone believes and they feel it makes them feel good, I say go ahead. Just don't treat people badly who don't believe and don't try to force something on them that they don't want. I don't believe in God but I don't attack people for being religious... In the end, I think it comes down to being respectful... I like Dave, he's pretty firm in his opinions, but reasonable to an extent.
And to answer why so many characters do dumb things in movies, simply put... That's how they were written!

Even as an Evangelical, it honestly pisses me off when people try to guilt trip me into liking a movie just because it talks about God. Dave, I have high respect for you. I'm a strong Christian, but also a rationalist. Now, the dumb fundamentalists I grew up with taught that all atheists were malicious, arrogant jerks; and I've personally known or heard from a bunch of arrogant and insane anti-theists. Dave, I often see that you are stressed, angry, disappointed, and cynical, and-- although we're never going to agree on theology-- we have those other things in common. I think I understand you as a person, and I easily see why you are an atheist. You are probably a jerk a lot of the time (and so am I), but your well-meaning and relative humility makes me respect you a ton.
Depending on the details, a religion doesn't have to be absurd. I believe I know my religion well enough to be able to defend it with logic, but that's just me. There's no excuse for people giving a good faith a bad reputation through bad reasoning, and there's no reason a person of no faith can't be better than a person of a faith. People should strive to be truthful, intelligent, and helpful regardless of what they believe. And because of that, we have more in common than I have with many or most Christians.
I'm a devout Christian as well. Our religion doesn't define us. I've realized changing people's minds is such a silly effort to make in this world. My hope is to encourage people to think for themselves in whatever they do. It's amazing to me how many people who say they are Christians don't even act like it. They spend all their time trying to trick, strong arm, and emotionally manipulate people into believing what they do. Obviously, it's not just Christians who do this, but it hits close to home for me, since the concept of "love" is the very foundation of Christianity. There is a chapter in the bible that lists off all these things that people would think were wonderful and prove how great you are, and then it says, "If I do all these things but don't have love, I'm worthless". A pretty clear idea, and something I don't see practiced.
Around the time this movie was made I had a friend who was deeply religious and kinda sorta tried converting me. I saw this while flipping through my On Demand section and thought "...Interesting. Maybe I'll watch it." Didn't feel like spending 5 bucks so didn't watch it.
I think I made the right choice.
If you need religion to be moral, then you must not have very strong morals. Sometimes it's ok to do good things just for the sake of it, or even for admittedly selfish reasons. Not just because you want to be rewarded or avoid punishment :/
Well, sad thing is, when we do have atheist countries, they either wind up bankrupt (EU) or murderous (Red China/USSR). So it does seem that mankind doesn't have strong morals. Atheists can only prosper under Christian lands, and when given lands of their own, they make nothing but hell for themselves.
Speaking as someone who gets crowded with the stench of humanity in an everyday basis, yes, humans have very weak morals and usually need something like the police or religion to keep them in check.

I've watched this review and the Cinema Snob one of this movie and it looks fucking ridiculous. I always roll my eyes whenever religious people go on and on about proving their faith. It's like, "You totally missed the point of what having faith means, didn't you?" And if someone's opinion is so flimsy it would be changed in one debate, maybe their faith isn't as strong as they like to think it is.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure God's Not Dead is grammatically correct. The apostrophe stands for "Is" when used as a possessive or something, I think, so it would be basically "God is not dead", which is correct. I think. The alternative would be "Gods not dead", which would be a weird fragment sentence about multiple gods who are not dead used incorrectly since "The gods aren't dead" would be more correct in that case.
Really, it should have just been called "God *ISN'T* Dead," since "isn't" is a proper contraction of "is not" and it avoids the whole issue completely.

The film was designed to satiate conservative Christian's misconceptions of Atheism, by downplaying the actual reasons why some people are atheists.

Also if I was among the students and had to stand up saying "God's not dead", I would stand up shouting "I AM BRIAN" and it would fit - a reference to a wonderful movie warning about religious fanatism.

You guys should really check out Julia X. Sorbo plays a serial killer that hunts and then gets caught by a pair of sisters who are also serial killers/vigilantes and has some really good dialogue as he darkly manipulates them even while he's the captive.
I appreciate that Dave and Brad clearly state that not all Atheists and Christians are fucking nuts...it is just a shame that the ones that are are usually the loudest so people get that mindset of them.
And I guarantee that a lot of churches bussed entire congregations in here to see this movie as it "is their duty"
I remember when Fire Proof came out the church I was at told all of us (on several sundays) to go see and support that movie.
And you know the weird part? This is most likely based off of a chain mail urban legend.
My Philosophy 1 class was an introduction to the basics, i.e the Greeks and the famous paradoxes, writing short papers about rationale in general, going over every major Western philosopher and school of thought up until the Postmodern era, then a final paper/essay. At no point does the school require you to sign a statement formally renouncing Jesus or whatever.
The professor in this movie did say "you can still pray in your dorm." He wasn't telling people to forget your religion, but just pretend to forget it for class.

Way back in the days, I took a 'Philosophy of Religion' class at CU - sooooo worth it, and would recommend it to anyone .
It's so funny that they prove Sorbo isn't an atheist right off the bat by him believing "God is dead". The first 2 words of that mean he is a theist since he then believes that a God existed at some point in time. He's not talking about some fictional character like saying "the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is dead" when talking about the good Ghostbusters movies; he literally is saying "God is" and affirming a positive belief in a deity; later on in the movie going as far as narrowing it down to a specific diety.
If the God of the Bible died he would probably end up in his fictional lake of fire lol.

Plus, if he's a philosophy professor, he should know the context of the quote he's using: "God is dead. He remains dead, and we killed Him." That was a commentary on human morality, not a promotion of atheism. This coming from both a Christian and a lover of common sense, these characters should know that blindly quoting things without context doesn't make you look smarter, and that goes for both parties.

The girl is portrayed as a cruel blogger and she gets cancer. Is that telling the audience to not be her type of person or you'll receive a punishment in the form of a deadly ailment?
Your longtime girlfriend dumps you because you are defending your faith in a college course. Ok, she's a complete jerk for not even attempting to support him but to say that it is driving a wedge in their relationship when it is his class and his fight and has nothing really to do with her?
A professor teaches and flat out tells people to destroy their faith in God (this would go for any religion) or they will fail the course all the while belittling and abusing his significant other for her own beliefs. Why did he hook up with her then? And that kind of teacher would be cast out his job for trying to do something like that in a public university setting. The opposite would hold true for somebody trying to force a certain religion into a public school science class. In a public setting, teachers can't restrict students religious rights or deny their religious rights. That is pure BS.
But putting that aside, this professor decides to seek redemption and try to make amends with his significant other. What ends up happening...he is killed in a car accident and converts to Christianity upon death. WHY? Why did he have to die? The guy was on the path to redemption and might have chosen to convert while still living. What bothers me most about this is that he did not need to die to be Christian but that seems to be one of the messages I'm getting here. What kind of message is that? My understanding is that Jesus died for our sins so that no further sacrifice would be necessary. This scene completely unhinges that sacrifice and goes against everything I believe in. You want to be saved? Ok, just commit suicide or have someone kill you. WHAT?
If God is not dead why are there people in this movie who don't receive some sort of redemption. Why did the jack@$$ who belittled his mom and said his girlfriend was wasting his time with her cancer not find a good resolution? Why did the professor need to die? Why was something as inconvenient as car trouble for a trip to Disney thrown into a mixing of other subplots that were supposed to have more weight on the characters? Why even throw them into the story when it seems to want the Josh kid to be the main character?
Oh and everyone who doesn't believe in God is apparently a complete jerk in this movie. I'd rather watch The messages of holding onto your faith in face of adversity or trying to convince others that your cause is justified are fine on their own but this movie delivers it very poorly. Honestly, if you want a better way to be brought into believing God is not dead read the Bible. It is far more enlightening than this movie. Even if you are not a believer, I'd rather read a book than let my brain ooze out of my ears over watching the stupidity and downright mean-spirited environment that this movie is showing.
Or go watch The Room. That's at least so bad it's funny.

The highlight of this movie for me was the two songs that band played at the concert at the end that's it, if someone is atheist they are gonna be offended by this flick and they have every right to be.
I'm pretty certain the muslim girl thing is 'based' on a 'true story'. Rifqa Bary, a young girl who ran away from home crying abuse because this handsome young pastor converted her to Christianity and convinced her to betray her parents. It turned out that not only did they not know she was Christian, but they knew she was a cheerleader and were very proud of her. But she lied a bunch to become a celebrity of the cause and made her parents lives hell.

Well, a film this bad is what happens when you adapt the chick tract "big daddy" to the big screen.
Being an atheist doesn't automatically mean you think death is the end. There's nothing about an afterlife that absolutely requires there to be a god of some sort.

Apparently the writers have never read Beyond Good and Evil. Seriously, it undermines every argument in the movie.
To be fair the main character admitted you cannot prove God exists. He just wanted to make it clear you cannot disprove him either and it all revolves around faith.
