Infact i read study on crosscountry skiers whom's Type IIA musclefibers in their triceps were pretty huge compared to their other muscles. Why? Because double polling requires high amount of aerobic and strength qualities. It was the capillar density of their fiber which made their musclefibers pretty huge (big fiber requires lots of capillaries to be able to work aerobically). Same didn't happen with fibers in their quads. Why? Because strength requirements for legs are not there or something other? I don't know, but suspect the lack of strength requirement in quads.
Look at some of the pictures of Marit Björgen as a female who did strength training for her upper body. Ofcourse she might have been under PEDs as well (=probably was).
So i'm not totally against the idea that crossfitters have something in their sport's requirements which would make their upper body very muscular. Too muscular for conventional understandment, aka strength athletes who mainly specialize in sitting on their arses once they start to feel bit tired.
Ps. Not denying the PED use, but suggesting that there actually might be something which "conventional" knowledge doesn't know.

@@Second247, what I think YOU are unaware of is that exogenous anabolic compounds tend to concentrate their effects in the trapezius muscle which makes them oversized compared to the rest of the physic - which I’m fairly positive the original commenter was alluding to.

    • @Second247
      @Second247 3 роки тому +2

@@travishouse5988 As i mentioned many times i don't take crossfitters to be natty, but i don't hink that doping isn't necessarily only, or even biggest, explanation why they have such a huge muscles.
They do tons of hand stands and gymnastic stuff exposing their upper bodies to much more varied range of movements and loads, plus total volume, what "conventional" strength athletes do.
As i said, in Crosscountry skiers can have huge muscle fibers in their triceps because of combined endurance and strength requirements. Crossfitters might have same with their shoulder girdle
It is also possible that crossfit as a sport favors people with strong shoulders. An example: Crosscountry skiing at elite level requires huge amount of Vo2max, which 90% of people never dream of achieving. Is well developed Vo2max of crosscountry skiers a result of EPO? Even if we inject them with EPO. I think we know the answer, it's the best drug out there: Genetics. Sadly you can't buy it [Lu brays in his breeding stable provided by Chinese Government].
90% of people can't have Vo2max of elite level endurance athlete no matter what they take and how they train. Same could hold true for Crossfit, you have to have potential in traps and delts to be able to have success in Crossfit. Drugs can help, but if your shoulder are shitty genetically you just can't make it up with drugs.
      Do they use drugs? Yes.

Much to be said about the fact CF is seperate from other athletic disciplines in that it's highly commercialised by necessity because it's so niche. Watching the Games this year (I'm an amateur CrossFitter) there were ads constantly for so many different companies. They're even sponsored by the US military! If the sport wants to keep growing, there's no way they could let a very high-profile athlete get popped for doping. This is the sort of thing whistleblowers are needed for.

The comment about how certain bodies control whether a person actually gets popped is my argument as to why Usain Bolt never tested positive. It would be a huge hit to the Olympics if it came out that he wasn't clean after he was basically the face of athletics for so many years.

I always felt that Glassman's last gasp attempt to can the Games in 2018 was the fact that he could see increasing PED use in the CF competitive space and it clashed with his "health agenda"... also feel that with the Rozer as CEO the PED use will be seen as a brand threat and increasingly dealt with.... e.g. I reckon the multiple Teams drug busts this year were a warning to the individuals... as the lads were saying in the video, the change of the guard (esp.in the mens) means that CF can be more uniform and serious in their testing without having to compromise some big names that have lifted the brand in the past...

It would be interesting to hear your opinion on the USAPL/IPF fallout in drug-tested powerlifting. There has been a big fallout. Essentially the USAPL do their own drug testing on the local level, but allow the IPF to control the drug testing that happens when USAPL lifters compete internationally. The USAPL do the most out-of-competition testing by far compared to the IPF affiliates in other countries (I know a UK lifter who has competed internationally but has never been drug tested). The USAPL out-of-competition tests are not sanctioned by the IPF and IIRC are not as detailed as WADA level testing, so the IPF dropping the USAPL as an IPF affiliate because the USAPL still want to do this out of competition testing. I believe that the USAPL would not be able to do WADA level testing as frequently as their current testing, due to the cost. It's a big loss because the USAPL contains a lot of drug-tested powerlifting talent, and their drug testing out-of-competition seems to be magnitudes more frequent than other countries.

Well you’ll probably need an air bike to do some extensive training first then you want to make sure you can do at least 15m worth of handstand push-ups just in case you fall off and hurt your legs, then you want to do a maximal effort snatch right after because you never know when something really heavy might get stuck in the road, then you want to pick up your recently acquired air bike, put it on your back and do some sprints up a hill to ensure you have adequate conditioning.
After that you should be good to plan your cycle, make sure to wear a helmet and bring lots of water to stay hydrated.

I’ve done steroids. I’m just a recreational powerlifter , glorified gym rat really . I first got on testosterone at 39 as I was deficient so I went to my doctor and did TRT which was amazing and made me feel a lot better . I became curious after that and experimented with a variety of compounds in the ensuing years…
Some stuff gives you raw strength , others can improve cardio and everything in between …
If I was going to CrossFit the compounds I would use would be equipoise and Turinabol with a testosterone base …Equipoise increases red blood cell count and makes cardio a lot easier . Turinabol has a similar effect (thou I’m unsure of the bio mechanics behind it - it was extensively used in East German olympic program)
You need testosterone base for certain amount of estrogen conversion on top of testosterone to keep your body happy as the other steroids will stop your bodies natural production…
There’s alot more too it then this and keep in mind And of course there are moral implications as well - I was always in competition with myself just trying to lift more then last time so I didn’t have any moral qualms with using steroids . Used carefully and under Doctors care they improved my life. I’ll be on testosterone the rest of my life and I’m ok with that too - I wouldent want to go back.

I’m so over anti-doping simply because it’s so disingenuous and unfair.
There is no way to stop it completely so it just gives the advantage to people with more resources to avoid getting popped or a higher risk tolerance. If it were opened up of course this would still be true in the sense of an arms race for the best protocols etc. but at least we’d be honest with ourselves and more transparent.

Say, comparing performance, adaptations, body changes or whatever you'd deem a good metric to use. Nothing bad about the tier system presented here, just kind of superficial. Maye a collab with MorePlatesMoreDates or something of the sorts.

I don't think Fraser ha taken any banned substances while those substances were banned. Every single World Champion athlete however has taken the most extreme substances that are still legal. Each year WADA/USADA add new substances to the banned substances list, at which point he will most likely have stopped taking those substances. So technically never taken a banned substance, but has definitely taken substances in the past when they were legal, which are now banned.

I've always wondered why there aren't many "Natty or Not" videos floating around about Rich Froning. People obviously pick names for those videos that will get enough UA-cam clicks, and you'd think his name would be one. I love the guy, but it seems impossible to me that he can train the way that the documentaries on him claim that he does and not get absolutely pummeled into the ground and unable to recover unless he's on gear, no matter how hyper-elite his genetics and work capacity developed over the years are.

    • @kblkbl

The reality is sadder: we just get less fit. I'm 43 and there's no way I can keep up with the 35 year olds etc. that's why they are age categories. 60 year old Crossfitters make no money off this - not sure there is much incentive. Limited upside, near unlimited downside - not just the community, but their own family will despise a cheater. Not sure many would go for that kind of risk/reward tradeoff

They only have Test levels that they would have had in their 40's due to the treatment therefore it may not be even seen as cheating. Frankly I have considered it myself.
