It's called power to weight and ⚙️ gesring. Though aerodynamics limit speed, 1000 HP via twin turbos, super low suspension and firm steering, 6 speed transmission and salt flat racing ring and pinion gears of 2.56 or lower will get you there. I had a 1980 monte carlo with 2.56 gears was capable of 150 mph.
Shear animal grunt is what's pushing that monster. Not much aero in old school car shapes. Ive pushed wind at 150mph plus on a bike with no fairing. That shit is hard at speed.
I remember that. That was done at Chrysler test track when testing the Cuda with V-10 viper engine only the aerodynamics of the Cuda is hard to push through the air with the open grille and then the trim molding was peeling off the top edge of windshield. Some of the Chrysler engineers were to help give advice on how to get a cuda- refrigerator to push through the air. Awesome video
Hitting top speed is a battle between drag and available power. Running out of "aero" IS running out of horsepower. However, the 'Cuda is outrageously awesome.
NOT condoning this: My friend had bought a Charger SRT8 and had it for a few months. He was taking me home after cruising around and punched it on the freeway entrance. He passed a CHP officer on on motorcycle writing a ticket. The officer just stood there shaking his head. No attempt to radio in, get on his bike... just shook his head as that black Charger tore past at 150+ mph.
It takes "Balls of Steel" to go 208 in a Cuda! I've never heard of any pneumatic tires that are rated for those speeds. I thought I was gonna die, when I hit 140 in my 71' Cuda on the 401, with Nylon General Grabbers on the Rear! Back when I didn't know any better!
that sound is actually the rotors straight cut design forcing air through the fins, this sound was commonplace during the early ages of land speed runs
Need adjustable coil overs. More rebound on front shocks. Bring the front down and the back up slightly to create " rake" to help with areo. Also block up the bottom of the grille opening to decrease air pressure under the hood and open up the thermostat to keep it cool
Amazing that in 1970 Richard Petty in a 1970 4700 lb Plymouth Superbird did 203 miles an hour at Daytona a NASCAR track with 433 hp and 472 foot pounds
That's impressive for a car shaped like a brick. Would be Interesting to see what a dodge/Plymouth super bird type wing car could do. If they did 200 on a nascrap track what would they do in a straight all out?
You didn't run out of homies they just got in your way to look through the windshield! I've traveled at 145 mi an hour for lengthy period of time. That was a long time ago. I cannot imagine going faster than that. Man I can't even imagine going that fast again. Can you do it in a 50-year-old car congratulations. Okay we know it's been rebuilt with the most modern items but still, WOW 😳!
I remember my first time as a kid ever going fast in a car was in a Mazda millenia S-Type doing 155 mph which I had no idea that that car could reach that type of speed it looks like a regular family car it's a straight sleeper. 🤣
208MPH out of a Cuda? now that's damn impressive for a lead sled of the early 70s. that's a Cuda I'd seriously love to own. mainly just to piss off my neighbors. Lmfao
Running out of Aero and running out of hp is the same, because it is a direct relationship between how aerodynamic a thing is VS how much hp it takes to go a certain speed
Get a splinter custom made for the front and a defuser for the rear of your car with under body airflow plates and take the spoiler off and you’ll probably get 230mph with 1000+ hp
Cuda sounds like a jet! Awesome clip
@Aaron - It totally sounds like a jet. Goes to show how well that motor was firing and put together.
Hemi=Airplane engine
Basically actually what there building nowadays. Put wings on it might just lift off🤣
Yess. I was awaiting lift off!!!
@@laquansykes1903 that's a viper V10. Definitely not a hemi
Pretty damn insane for a brick car!
He should’ve tried a cinder block. They have three speed holes in them

Brick...I was thinking the same thing.
Damn!
Oct. 2017 I saw a twin turbo Cuda with 2000hp at the Texas mile.. That brick only went 240 mph.
I’m surprised the windows didn’t blow out………..

208 MPH in rectangular front end Cuda. Beyond impressive.
Big block v8 go BRRRRR
208 mph Cuda ! Unbelievable ! Aerodynamics must be part of it !
Hey you're funny
shit ran out of aerodynamics did u not hear the video
Shear animal grunt is what's pushing that monster.
Not much aero in old school car shapes.
Ive pushed wind at 150mph plus on a bike with no fairing. That shit is hard at speed.
It takes so much power to just push through the air. Moving the car fast isn't that hard, it's moving the air out of its way.
You can hear those turbos kicking in!!!
Give that cuda an aero package. It would wax that enzo..
Oh hell yeah. Like maybe a cup car stance. 240 easy!
Yes and I will see with the first turn
Awesome sound at that speed.sounds like a jet about to lift off
All it takes is the right gears
Mopar - more power!!!
no more power, that Box 📦 car will only flip over and Blow the "uck" up.. #TheEnd

Love the Cuda
Lucky that 'Cuda didn't get airborne in the front end.
Cuda sounding like an F 16 fly by😳
I'd be afraid to push a Cuda that fast...lol.
Like you said, it's definitely running out down force.
I remember that. That Plymouth Cuda was Beautiful.
That Cuda sound good and look good going down that track wow

Ludicrous speed !!! 😁👍
The ‘Cuda is THE G.O.A.T ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
How ??, 🤔 Ferrari Enzo is a HyperCar 218 mph that could have went faster 😳.. that Box 📦 car is impressive but its no match for the Enzo 🚀🚀...
I miss watching this show on TV 😔 I love classic muscle cars

How ‘bout them Dodge Boys ???
This is a plymouth tho.
What a sick clip!!!
That my friend is moving. I wouldn't have the guts to attempt that, although I went 90 in a Cavalier.
Don't sell yourself short; that took balls of steel! And a steep downhill?
With the steering-wheel-shake I instantly imagine when you mention any type of speed and a Cavalier I'd say you have some guts too sir

McLaren invented Aero. It helped Bruce McLaren's team win every Can-Am race in 1969.
He hit that NOS!
That brick sounds like a WW2 fighter aircraft
Not really surprised. Back in the day of old NASCAR the Hemi Charger was capable of hitting 200 mph.
