love it thx bought the album in 74 never thought i would be able to play guitar starting with this at 55 many thanks awesome tune great teacher respect.
So my gf ruined my Bowie living room tribute tonight so she could watch.... teen mom... and since that's a war crime against humanity ...I had to learn this one in about an hour prior to her going to bed.... Amazing video and kudos to the tutorial... she's prolly about sleeping now and i have the amp set to ROCK! at the foot of the bed... she will never forget what he brought to the music world.... This one's for you Bowie... We have all lost a great artist and a great man! Your legacy will never end!
Why would that one person DISLIKE this vid... What's to dislike...????? It has given hundred if not thousands/millions a better idea of the chords, whilst given his options on chords....!!!!! Thank you for taking the time out to vid your version of Space Oddity
I just love your lessons. Unlike the pro guys, you don't want to be more important than the song. You go straight to the point. I can't stand all the talk.
Thanks for sharing Peter :-D the most accurate and easy to follow tutorial on UA-cam so far. Bowie would be pleased, timeless classic with his music living on, for us to play & enjoy !! Thanks again :-))
mate... just like to say a big thanks for your time and efforts into putting these vids up for us.. have been teaching myself guitar for 3 years now and with your help I am playing songs I grew up to and having a ball .. thanks heaps.
Great tute, like the way you break things down, perfect for those of us who know most of the common chords already. there's a few alternative for some of those funky chords, but I like the ones you used after the barre section.
Well done mate! Just right! You didn't play it differently than the other tabs, you played it correctly my friend. Thanks for making this video. Fantastic!
Don't worry about the couple of glitches you made. It was an excellent easy to follow lesson. I'm sticking with you to pull off a decent version of this song. Thank you. Cheers from Montreal Canada. Here's to the thin white Duke
Great lesson. You're using a lot more open strings than most tabs I've seen, which sounds amazing especially on a 12 string - which is how this song was recorded, so I reckon you're spot on! Cheers Pete.
Excellent tutorial my normal go to guys play through the progression which made an easy song difficult not really knowing where the changes fall in the song..the sing along truly helped and made it a snap thank you.. so I gave it a thumbs up and subscribed hope that helps you to👍 thanks.
I got two points in a pub quiz for putting the Laughing Gnome, didn't know about that one I thought that might have been a track from the band he was in the mid sixties still a good tune . Space Oddity was his first top ten hit, excellent tutorial though . :-)
Great lesson Pete .. I play this one (..Cadd9 camp for what it's worth and hardest chord change in song for me to hit clean) but I've picked up a few nice bits from your lesson so thanks!
Absolutely fantastic thank you, esp in regards to the D7 w/ the F# ... The only thing I'd add is that the section that begins @6:26 of your video, I would recommend playing that F maj7 as you do, but then keeping that same fingering and chord shape and just moving it up the neck accordingly
Thank you so much. All of your tutorials are great and so easy to follow. After the "power" section you gave an option between Cadd9 and Gmaj7, the Gmaj7 sounds better, but still not quite right.... try an E shape starting with the index finger on the 9th fret (you just slide from 6th to 9th). It's a variation of C9 (I think) and sounds more like Bowie, but still not perfect unless you don't strum all of the strings. Then follow it with a D and an E but use bar chords (5th and 7th frets). Let me know what you think. My condolences to you about your sister.
hey buddy, i think that i can answer your question jeje, it looks like a Gibson but it's an Epiphone :) and the logo of Adidas is just for Noel Gallagher and his guitar.
"The laughing gnome" was his first single, that charted, I believe, Don't mean to correct you Pete, But he had a few releases before "Space Odditey" mainly on the "Pye" Label. Cheers

Please share how that ended!
I'll take things that never happened for $1,000,000 dollars, Alex.
Y'all divorced yet, or what?
Man, you sing so nice it's wonderful to even listen to you sing a tutorial!
First thing I noticed.
Why would that one person DISLIKE this vid... What's to dislike...????? It has given hundred if not thousands/millions a better idea of the chords, whilst given his options on chords....!!!!! Thank you for taking the time out to vid your version of Space Oddity

Great lesson. Lots of chord changes to cover. You play a lot better falling asleep than I do wide awake. Thanks for doing this one.
Another excellent lesson mark. Thank you and the b flat sounds great to my ears.
I played this Bowie's song many times with my band on the stage. Your version it's really good!!!!, 👍👍
Great tute, like the way you break things down, perfect for those of us who know most of the common chords already. there's a few alternative for some of those funky chords, but I like the ones you used after the barre section.

Roger that! Fantastic. Broke the song down, nicely into it's major parts! That's exactly how you approach a song like this...
The base sound from you guitar is gorgeous. Thanks for the tips it brings it all up to a new level for me.

The Laughing Gnome was Bowie's first single, came out in sixty seven two years before Space Oditty. Its very different from his Ziggy Stardust stuff.

I've trying to get the rhythm right on that turnaround for over a year. Muted strums!!!! Duh! I would have never got that on my own. Thanks Pete!
Excellent version hope your partner comes back 😄
This is great, many thanks.
Bowie looked like a freak, but Space Oddity more than made up for it. He should've had a stand in on the video! Great lesson!
