Mike Garson (pianoman) quote: "This was a memorable performance for me because Space Oddity had no piano originally and I was still the new guy on the block at this performance. I wasn't sure if Ii should add so much piano at the beginning - and good old David was so accepting of all my contributions. During the main part of this song I switched to the mellotron which sounds like strings. What a great performance! And then there's Mick Ronson - the unsung hero. So handsome, such a great singer, a phenomenal guitarist and friend..." Love it!
Wow I never knew Mick contributed so much vocally to this song, he did an incredible job on this performance. Man they sounded so good in harmony together here.
Without UA-cam I would never have listened to David Bowie. He was my father's favorite musician, now I can't get enough,David Bowie was and is The Star Man. Love from Sweden💋💛💙
What a damn good performance! They were the real deal. Playing a song live without some studio track for a song like that, and making it sound the same. Unbelievable.
I saw “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars” at the Hollywood Palladium. It was a few weeks after the Santa Monica show. Blew my mind to see it again! Wow. Thanks so much! It’s like reliving the experience. Truly Great Show.
Mick looks fabulous in his white, open vest and pants…what a gorgeous man; so darn talented. Bless him for enhancing the Spiders from Mars for us to enjoy forever.
As a kid, stayed up late to record this show simulcast on FM record. Cassette tape. By far this is the best version of this song that Bowie ever did. A fantastic show.
No me canso de escuchar a Bowie, en especial, esta canción. Tiene tanta nostalgia y dramatismo que siempre se me desprende una lágrima. Brilla, brilla David, en el espacio estelar.
Their chemistry is amazing! What Ronson does in this is out of this world-the sounds he gets from his guitar! Ziggy in his iconic alien costume-so damn sexy⚡️⚡️⚡️
I was at a party and found a TV upstairs to watch this. Lots of people downstairs playing air guitar to Smoke on the Water. I was in my own world with all of you in your own worlds. Beautiful.
Thank you!!! So nice to finally be able to see Mick do that slide up the neck of the guitar instead of watching a rocket lift off. You did a great job restoring the band footage. I love it! Well done!
People who love so much what they have to do and meeting happens when we are in a illusion that is possible all the time. Mick and David was together able to give us one of the best moments on all Rock and Roll history. For so much beyond the simply amazing feeling t watch this.
I remember when this broadcast in the US for the first time as a Midnight Special exclusive. It was so awesome! I was a teen who had only recently at that time become a Bowie fan which I had to sort of keep under my hat living in the Houston area.
This much more that a pop song.a song about space era. This indirectly is a song about growing up and living with the memoirs of your parents. Its so perfect and touching
Mr Sussex Your videos show the time and love that you put into your videos, I love that David shared the stage with Ronno. There's a chemistry between them that can't be copied. Another fantastic video ❤ thanks
Man what an iconic performance/legendary music/unmatched talent so on so on..you can't do anything but love it! Also your videos are always excellent coming off your hard work..congratulation and credits to you sir for giving us these excellent performances!! You got the admire and love from all bowie fans!! Thank you!
Los más increíble de esa época que pedazos de músicos desde bowie él fue el que abrió la mente a todos los músicos actuales.... Lo fantásticos que suenan esa guitarra el bajista y la batería que lujo... De otro planeta para esa época la música
when this music was new very few of us ever saw film like this of Bowie and so many other artists ... and we only had our imaginations....Bowie concerts were rare and getting a ticket was even harder since average people had no money for such things .. now I have all the money I need and I cant see anything like it except this and for free .....it is quite remarkable to see this archive...thank you, sir
Who knows what David said to Mick after the performance? I am convinced that will have been extremely happy with this intimacy built on stage, those glances and that sound combined together something fantastic and unrepeatable, unique fixed in that small moment 3:17 🥺💖
No, I just got into Bowie about three months ago. I suppose it takes time to truly understand his beauty and talent. Bowie is a very unique artist and there will never be another artist out there with as much creativity as he had..This is all opinionated though.
There is no accounting for taste, I personally liked the NASA footage in the original video. That rocket was a Saturn V that took the Apollo astronauts to the Moon, and what you called a satellite was the Skylab space station. I was fortune enough to be in Florida and witnessed the launch of Skylab 3.
First time I have heard this song from David and co.Sorry to hear that mick passed away he has become my favorite Guitarist one bad mother love his style
Um dos melhores músicos que já existiu. Esta musica não canso de ouvir. Tem um filme dele lindo. Veja o filme STARDUS vc vai se tornar um fam deste musico❤

Love, love! Thank you so much, I've long been irritated by the cut to the rocket launch, always wanting to see Mick doing his thing there, and here it is thank you again. You deserve a Knighthood for this!
The earth is estimated to be 4.5 billion years old....incredible... also incredible is we were on it the same time as David Bowie.....Just a thought...
Thanks Mr. S, Love this version...I have been looking for something old...that is new for me, something authentic! You just provided me with that, plus way more...Love this video of yours the most... though I like a lot of your other videos too...please, if you have anything else to post, please put it up, I will surely watch it!!
One of my least favourite Bowie songs suddenly seen afresh thanks to another sensational re-edit by Kieran! Extraordinarily engaging, a superb quality record of the 1980 Floor Show. I can barely contain my excitement thinking of what you might put together from the hours of rehearsals and out-takes from this TV special...
Thank you. I know what you mean. It's not a song I listen too very often due to over-familiarity with it, but I like this performance of it. He performs it with such relish. I also like his benign smile over the audience at 18 seconds (which was not in the original). Looking forward to sharing my future edits with you too : )
Guitar and Vocal Duet with David Bowie and Mick Ronson is Amazing Mindblowing. Rest in peace Mick and David.
yes
Yes Mick was incredible ❤
I was thinking the same! Their voices together are matched perfection!!
Mick and David both died of Liver Cancer pretty coincidental
Truly Spot On 👌
Mike Garson (pianoman) quote: "This was a memorable performance for me because Space Oddity had no piano originally and I was still the new guy on the block at this performance. Love it!
incredible performance, I love listening to this song.
Wow! ❤️
Mike Garson & Mick Ronson...phenominal on this performace of Space Oddity!!
Hats off to you fine sir!
Thanks so much for explaining that you switched to the Mellotron as I wondered how the strings got into this. Thank you for explaining. 👌🏻🌌🌅🌠🕊
Mick Ronson was one of the greatest guitar players who ever lived! God bless you Mick, RIP.
My eyes are drawn to Mick far more than Bowie...and he had a cool voice too...
Fantastic RONNO. 💕💖💓💜🎶🎶🎶🎶
Thank you so very much Mr Sussex, fabulous job and still so appreciated in December 2024. 🌌🌅🌠🕊👌🏻
Wow I never knew Mick contributed so much vocally to this song, he did an incredible job on this performance. Man they sounded so good in harmony together here.
I thought he sounded better than the front man
Fantastic RONNO. 💖🎶
Mick was the force behind David and never got the recognition for the genius he was and still he deserves it. Better late than never! ❤️🔥🌟
Piano is Mike Garson? Amazing.
Je t'aime Bowie ...pour la vie
David Bowie restera à jamais dans les annales de la musique ❤
Mick Ronson David Bowie R.I.P
Without UA-cam I would never have listened to David Bowie. He was my father's favorite musician, now I can't get enough,David Bowie was and is The Star Man. Love from Sweden💋💛💙
What a damn good performance! They were the real deal. Playing a song live without some studio track for a song like that, and making it sound the same. Unbelievable.
that would be unheard of in the 70s we had so many tallented instramentalists in all rock bands.;IT WAS THE NORM .ITS CALED TALLENT AND WORK.
This is my favorite performance of Space Oddity !!! Accoustic and electric guitar, I love it ! Thank you so much !
Thanks Linda. Glad you like it so much.
I saw “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars” at the Hollywood Palladium. It was a few weeks after the Santa Monica show. Blew my mind to see it again! Wow. Thanks so much! It’s like reliving the experience. Truly Great Show.
Lucky you.
Mick looks fabulous in his white, open vest and pants…what a gorgeous man; so darn talented. Bless him for enhancing the Spiders from Mars for us to enjoy forever.
Mick is underrated why just look at him such a badass :)
Man, Bowie was on another level of talent and creativity! RIP= restore in presence!
I'm 42 years younger than this song (1969.) and it's my favorite. Thank you for this perfect song!!
3:48 God, tell David I love him very much
Liza's Dreams U NOT ALONE ;)
"He knooooows." :)
rip David Bowie 😢😭😭
I love you David Bowie there will never be another like you! You were special!!!!
The very best performance of the song IMO, bowie and the band are really enjoying it and the drumming is amazing!!
Agreed. This performance makes it fresh again.
As a kid, stayed up late to record this show simulcast on FM record. Cassette tape. By far this is the best version of this song that Bowie ever did. A fantastic show.
FM radio.
No me canso de escuchar a Bowie, en especial, esta canción. Tiene tanta nostalgia y dramatismo que siempre se me desprende una lágrima. Brilla, brilla David, en el espacio estelar.
he respect Mick and lets him take as much stage as him. says alot

This is stellar work. The NASA footage was always a nuisance. Thanks for your hard work!
Thank you. Glad you liked it.
Thank you!!! So nice to finally be able to see Mick do that slide up the neck of the guitar instead of watching a rocket lift off. You did a great job restoring the band footage. I love it! Well done!
Как же здорово, что есть возможность посмотреть старые записи и насладиться.
Seriously incredible, absolute masterful performance of an terrific song. You've done a great thing here Mister Sussex putting this together.
People who love so much what they have to do and meeting happens when we are in a illusion that is possible all the time. Mick and David was together able to give us one of the best moments on all Rock and Roll history. For so much beyond the simply amazing feeling t watch this.
Timeless, such wonderful music.
This must be around the time of Pin Ups since I see one of my all time drumming heroes in back of Bowie and Ronno:
Aynsley Thomas Dunbar!
The Man Was A Trendsetter
Great addition of Garson on the ivories!!! Bowie at the height & finale of Ziggy, gorgeous as always... Ronson always the best addition of all...
Best song of Bowie and one of the masterpieces of 70s 👍👍
I remember when this broadcast in the US for the first time as a Midnight Special exclusive. It was so awesome! I was a teen who had only recently at that time become a Bowie fan which I had to sort of keep under my hat living in the Houston area.
One of the best versions of this I've heard, made all the better with Ronno putting his touch of sparkle all over it. Smashing..
Of all the versions and live performances of this song, this is my favorite. It has some little something extra. Bowie lives!❤
Love Bowie and Mick, hanks so much for posting.
This much more that a pop song.a song about space era. This indirectly is a song about growing up and living with the memoirs of your parents. Its so perfect and touching
Genius, beautiful, unique Genius
Ahh bless these fab artists, they gave us wonderful sound and vision.

Mick Ronson was the high harmony in this song that made the vocals so awesome! ❤❤❤❤
Total Perfection
That shoulder shrug at about 3:09 gets me every time! Best version...EVER!
Mick the most incredible guitarist, without him who knows? xxx.
Soo true...
Ils sont réunis...pour toujours.
juday won He deserves some love for those back vocals as well.
It's so sad to see him go so young. He was so talented and is practically the reason I started playing electric guitar recently. R.I.P Mick!
RIP Mick Ronson (26 May 1946 - 29 April 1993)
Gone too soon.
when this music was new very few of us ever saw film like this of Bowie and so many other artists ... and we only had our imaginations....Bowie concerts were rare and getting a ticket was even harder since average people had no money for such things .. now I have all the money I need and I cant see anything like it except this and for free .....it is quite remarkable to see this archive...thank you, sir
Didn't know Ansley Dunbar was with Bowie here. Sounded great, love his style here.
Who knows what David said to Mick after the performance? I am convinced that will have been extremely happy with this intimacy built on stage, those glances and that sound combined together something fantastic and unrepeatable, unique fixed in that small moment 3:17 🥺💖
Is it bad that I became a fan after he died? I still think he’s the best, I just didn’t think that until months ago.
Notepad Pop Culture I became a fan 5 months ago :)
Just really got into him myself. Sometimes it just takes time to see and grasp what was actually great about a person.
No, I just got into Bowie about three months ago. I suppose it takes time to truly understand his beauty and talent. Bowie is a very unique artist and there will never be another artist out there with as much creativity as he had..This is all opinionated though.
Me too, I became a fan a month ago
