    I need to practice this. I do portraits that take me days, sometimes weeks. And then end up feeling super disappointed and depressed when it doesn’t turn out well. I’m definitely gonna be trying this out👨🏻‍🎨

    Light bulb moment. Who needs to warm up? Just have fun! As Liz Steel would say, “Having a pigment party on paper.”

    I have a free trial on skillshare, and have been trying to pack in as much as humanly possible 😂🤦🏻‍♀️😊 but I love your classes on there SO much because, like this video, you're so calm and relaxed... you always make sure we know what you use, but that is only because we ask and to grab whatever you have to draw with and on and then GO!!
    I love continuous line work.... but tend to make a big jumble... I never know where, well, for instance, when you make a simple boxy shape, you go back over parts, dipping in and out or zog zag in and out with it... then here, your last pretty random swirl(loved it, but don't know what to else to call it😊)... I always go into a drawing/painting saying "loose... looose... looooooose... I'm going to relax and be loose with it " .... 5min later I'm hunched over, gripping my pen tight as if it's actively trying to run away😬🙄🤦🏻‍♀️
    Practice... I know😊 I'm an old lady and only began teaching myself to draw/paint several years ago... should be way further along but my body decides that, and it doesn't often give me the ability to practice, but, I LOVE when I can... and I also LOVE that, (since art literally saved my life before and I need it to still, more then ever honestly), that I can watch all these amazing artists like you on here and focus on the art and the beauty and peace of it, when I'm dealing with the pain and frustration.
    I know its a LOT of work, and I'm so so so sorry for this embarrassingly long comment.. but, please know how much I appreciate all that work and effort! So much more then these words can express :)
    Thank you very much 😊

    It's a cool image, but I believe the lose idea doesn't always produce the best image. Quality over qantity.

    I keep finding an eternal problem: i do my sketch, but when i watercolor it, i never know which áreas should be painted and which ones should I leave Blank. I always end up coloring much more then i wanted...i guesse i just don't know how to distribute colours in the drawing. Any tips for this difficulty, Toby?

    • @TobySketchLoose
      @TobySketchLoose  Рік тому +2

      It's an ongoing challenge - my biggest tip is simply to always stop too early, and also come in with a plan - 'I'm going to leave the buildings white', for example. You can always add more after.
      Otherwise, my other big colour tips are aim for a max of 5-6 pigments, and if you use a colour in one place, always balance it else where too.

    What ink do you use in your fountain pen?

    Es gibt eben verschiedene Techniken und Möglichkeiten, ein Bild zu gestalten.
    Jeder ist einzigartig und das drückt sich ebenso im Bild aus.
    Wobei ich bei manchen Bilder mich schon frage: Was ist das? Was soll das sein? :-)
    Vielleicht fehlt mir da was, um das zu verstehen.
    Alle Liebe.
