WOW, WOW, WOW! Watched as I had my morning cup of coffee. So calming, watching you paint that scene and listening to the beautiful background music. What is the name of that music? Watching you paint to music is my idea of heaven! Now I have to get brave and try it myself. Thank you for sharing your skills and talent.
+Createful Art Channel This on is Winsor Newton. Most are pretty much the same. I really like Pebo Drawing Gum. Its reliable and I like the gray color. amzn.to/1MH6ek7
MINDERS is a good name. We will mind what you say about the mind of watercolor....Really will try this....wish I could afford the watercolor paper you are using. But I think your process will work well on my watercolor paper. Thanks for the video.
Re-learning drawing and painting after a hemorrhagic stroke a few months ago finding your teaching very helpful. Oh and yes I did watch before my brain bleed just for the entertainment and inspiration, but now it helpful in remembering all how-tos that used to come naturally, thanks Steve!
The Mind of Watercolor been watching your videos for a few weeks now and really enjoying the lovely mixed bag of choices professionally presented, so encourages one to have a go with a bit more confidence. THANK YOU ,
I got really excited watching this video, and it tends to take a lot to excite me these days, but daaaaaaaamn! This looked so good, I almost cried! I hope someday to be as good as you. Watercolour looks SO amazing when you do it right. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and talent here.
Love your limited pallette; they blend so well together. Also enjoyed how you modeled the rocks with the scrub brush & usually have a Bible verse that relates to the painting very inspirational.
Well mister... I've been looking for a way in to watercolor. I've literally watched at least a hundred different videos on techniques, etc. I used to be into very detailed drawings, but I longed to be more painterly and still do fantasy and surreal artwork. This video gave me an epiphany and a way in to color and looseness and a way to keep the fantastic alive as well. Thank you so much. ps: When I did a little airbrush I would just dab the masking fluid with a paper towel to remove any colors and lift it off with masking tape.
I absolutely love your spontaneous paintings. They're a joy to watch as they come into being - and an even greater joy for you to paint! This type of art is what I aspire to. For now, though, it's baby steps and practise, practise, practise! Thank you so very much.
This was so much fun to watch. You really did display your sense of design and brush skills...Excellent and such a "fresh" finished composition. You always seem so relaxed when you are working, a great exmple to other budding/ struggling "Minders"... Many thanks Steve.
I've watched this one several times. It's my absolute favorite of your spontaneous paintings. I keep trying to do some of my own, but the paint just takes over and nothing much emerges for me. I end up losing too much of my white space. Gosh but watercolor is hard! But I love it too much to quit.
Thank you so much for sharing your 'mind'... I am just starting watercolour and you made me laugh when you said 'detail drunk'.... I love detailing my works but you made me realize that that is what I love about watercolour artworks (even of others).... the eyes keep on guessing some shapes because some are soft and not precise but when the mind realize what they are....that is the magic of it :)
+Susan Banks Very kind thank you. Talent? maybe, but there's also 40 years of working with the medium to account for some of it. Yes, please keep at it. 😊
I'm a new subscriber to your channel and on a different episode of spontaneous or "accidental" painting you said you didn't know if it was the right word to use to describe the exercise. I think I like the term "serendipitous painting" because that's what I see watching you paint. Thank you & I am looking forward to seeing more. Have learned much in the few videos I've seen so far!
Thanks for the input. Yeah the first one I posted was almost 2 years ago now. I think "spontaneous" ended up being the most suggested term and the one I stick with now. 😊
I absolutely love how those trees look! I'll have a go at spontaneous painting and using a water bottle spray. Your videos are really inspiring...thank you from a real beginner!
Lovely! I have watched this a lot of times already but it never seize to amaze me! Its very dreamy! Wish there was someone near my area who can guide me on watercolors.
Minders... I like it. I love when you do these type of paintings. I think the unknown is the biggest hurdle to working with watercolors, in the beginning. But, thanks to you, I've overcome that fear and am learning to make whatever I get work. This is beautiful and it's a pure pleasure watching you.
The finished painting made me think of the little islands in the water on the way to Seely Lake, Montana. You could put water around that and it would be even more stunning. I enjoyed this video so much. You are so talented. Thank you.
Minders - great name.! 😄Just love this painting! I have just got used to using my credit card for scraping out rocks. Thanks for an alternative! Painting rocks is really difficult. Living in Norway, I do a lot of rock painting. Rocks seem to dominate the landscape in all my reference photos.
Detail drunk! Yes. That totally explains it. Learning to stop before it's too late is a challenge for me; I need to find a local Details Anonymous meeting! edit to add: Love this painting. So fresh!
I haven't drawn or painted in a very, very long time. However, these videos are inspiring me to pick it back up. I really like your approach and techniques. Very fresh.
oops..sorry for the typos !..guess I just got too carried away. Thanks so much for sharing your gift with us all. greeting and a big namaste from India.
Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your wonderful videos! Informative, creative, entertaining, and easy to understand! I've really been unleashing my watercolor paintings lately. I am a nature artist myself and went through a bout of artist block but allowing aspects of my paintings to be spontaneous has done wonders for my creative spirit!
i'm a loyal minder who LOVES your spontaneous paintings. They inspire me to let the medium do the work and just sit back and savor the mystical wonder of watercolor!
Thank you again! I hope to become a patron in the near future. I dream of doing what you do with watercolor. In May I get the Silver Brushes! and high quality paper :D I repurposed several makeup brushes and bought a set of taklon detail rounds. I even have mops, but that blue brush will be mine, too. It's in my saved for later!
Steve, Outstanding! Love your stuff. Look forward everyday to seeing any posts you've made. Could you possibly try a spontaneous water scene. Maybe something like a marshy area or wetland? Pax Domini Sit Semper Vobiscum!
Fascinating, isn't it, how the artist can "speak" into existence, with his imagination and his hands, a scene that was never there until he called it forth with his eye and his brush? Another way in which we image our Creator, I suppose... This is a lovely one! Watching the "ex nihilo" aspect of your spontaneous paintings gives them an excitement different from and somehow more than painting a scene from nature or from a photograph.
Like many others I do love your spontaneous paintings, Mitch. I do have a question though. At 06:45:00 you're using a rubber to lift up the masking fluid. How do you clean this rubber?
It is once again beautifulll Steve. And I think you are right about a limited pallet. I saw some tutorials lately by a British artist and he made whole paintings just using 3 colours. Since I've learned less is more, my paintings improved in colour unity. It definatly makes a difference.
I love to watch you paint😊💕💕💕 you always give out such helpful hints and tips. The peaceful music adds to your painting, also.Thank you for this Intuitive art lesson. Your painting turned out beautiful!❤️
like it but I have a friend from Finland who told me she was a "child Minder". That meant she was a nanny for Australian children.......it was hard for me to make the leap to your "minder" but I love it........
Love this. My morning meditation is watching you paint and letting what you are teaching sink into my subconscious. I find aspects will pop up in my mind throughout the day. So peaceful, thank you.
These people are all wrong, the music is great...although, maybe a little subtler/quieter? (ha ha) Also, video is hard to follow in the beginning because of the speed. Love it though.
It's truly a delight watching you paint but so difficult to paint like you because your mind works in coordination with the mind of watercolour ! You create magic !
+Mary Algar 😊 so very kind, thanks! Can't remember the song. It comes from audio blocks.
What masking fluid are you using? I haven't found a favorite yet. Looks awesome!

Back in my yout there was a groovy album called Dingly Dell. (By Lindisfarne) You painted a beautiful Dingly Dell.
This painting is amazing, you are so talented, thanks comes from North Yorkshire UK.
Re-learning drawing and painting after a hemorrhagic stroke a few months ago finding your teaching very helpful. Oh and yes I did watch before my brain bleed just for the entertainment and inspiration, but now it helpful in remembering all how-tos that used to come naturally, thanks Steve!
+hbonnett1 Glad I can be of help.
I think you are a really good teacher, and a very gifted artist. I really hope you can go full time soon. :)
I was having withdrawals because you had not posted in a few ... LOL... I get so much out of your videos... they make me excited to play! Thank you...
+Becky Winters 😃

When I grow up I wanna paint just like, Steve! Haha... I'm 70 yrs young but plenty of time left.
You ROCK! Pun intended. Love, love, love watching your incredible talent.
😁
I got really excited watching this video, and it tends to take a lot to excite me these days, but daaaaaaaamn! This looked so good, I almost cried! I hope someday to be as good as you. Watercolour looks SO amazing when you do it right. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and talent here.
My pleasure, thanks!

You are an inspiration like always, have a good day!Minder Monica
Great name, great paintings thank you from Ireland 🇮🇪
Poor Reese has no mind just like a bunch of people I know🤪😜😂🤭🤭🤭
Love your limited pallette; they blend so well together. Also enjoyed how you modeled the rocks with the scrub brush & usually have a Bible verse that relates to the painting very inspirational.
its always magical watching you turning blank paper into such a masterful art
More please. Love Minders, it fit perfectly to us. I feel so relax watching you paint. Thank you.

Looks great! What about adding sky and water?
Loved you added rocks in this painting. I always learn great things from you Steve. You are my favorite channel now.
Thank you so much for this video!! This was really helpful for me

I LOVE your spontaneous paintings. Everything you do is amazing and inspires me and teaches me so much. But your spontaneous paintings just ROCK!!!!

+Doki Very true, thanks!
Beautiful. I’ll soon become one of your patreons. I’m looking forward to it. Thank you so much :)
Thank you!
Brilliant, if I could manage 1% that skill I would be so pleased. I must keep having a go and one day it will, hopefully, come together.

The best spontaneous painting so far Steve- pure magic. My project for today 😊
Can you recommend a good basic substitute for red iron oxide? Love these videos!
Burnt Sienna is the most common.
Lovely! I have watched this a lot of times already but it never seize to amaze me! Its very dreamy! Wish there was someone near my area who can guide me on watercolors.
Thanks!
Another great video Steve. Yes, I think minders is cool. Great channel, best on tube

Love watching you paint! You make it look so easy . I'm a detail junkie... You are amazing! Thanks for all the wonderful videos.
My pleasure!
Love this technique. Gonna try it
Excellent work. Those trees are out of control with depth and variation.
+Greg Paone 👍
My 1st attempt turned to sewage.
I really love how you carve forms from the shapes/colors you put down in this
The finished painting made me think of the little islands in the water on the way to Seely Lake, Montana. You could put water around that and it would be even more stunning. I enjoyed this video so much. You are so talented. Thank you.
+Julie M Thanks so much!

edit to add: Love this painting. So fresh!
+lansing street blues hah! Yes, detailing is highly addictive!
I haven't drawn or painted in a very, very long time. However, these videos are inspiring me to pick it back up. I really like your approach and techniques. Very fresh.
"Detail Drunk". Perfect word picture.
These spontaneous landscapes are just spectacular. Thank you for all you bring to us.

Beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful demonstration and something to aspire to.
Beautiful - less is more!
I like it a lot, it inspires me. I'm an oil painter, but it makes me want to go back to watercolor. Thank you from Porto-Portugal.
Beautiful work as always, loved the background music =D
You got a sub, great work.
P.S. -- I like "minders". And, as mentioned, I enjoy the peaceful background music.

Like many others I do love your spontaneous paintings, Mitch. I do have a question though. At 06:45:00 you're using a rubber to lift up the masking fluid. How do you clean this rubber?
I just pick off the mask by hand.
@@mindofwatercolor Just as I do. I thought there would be a smarter or easier way. :-) Thanks for taking the time to answer.
Wow. I really like that painting. And your inspirational way of explaining and showing. Thx
Stunning! Love this! ..... Utterly mesmerized watching you work..
Can you make a video on easy landscape for beginners
This one is pretty doggone easy, I have to say. The elements can be simplified as to detail.
Music is disturbing and quite loud…
I would have loved to hear what you were saying.
Beautiful painting though!

+roden70 Let me guess, was it either Dave Usher or Alan Owen? Or might have been Steve Cronin. All use pretty limited palettes. Great way to go.
+The Mind of Watercolor It was Geoff Kersey. But I do like the work of Steve Cronin and Dave Usher. And the work of Peter Wooley!
Really enjoyed that video. It was the first one of The Mind of Watercolor I have seen. Gotta see more!!!!
You look like younger version of Robert Di Niro. I love your art and tutorials. Thanks 🙏🏼
Detail 😵 drunk, guilty as charged. That’s why I watch your videos to help me loosen up.
I'm very grateful for your videos. Always, so helpful and inspiring. It makes me believe I CAN do it! God Bless You!!

Minder? I don't mind. Does that mean I'm not a minder? Now I'm even confusing myself.

SOOO beautyful 😍
Very easy and nice way to show the softening needed with masking fluid! Thanks
Proud to be a minder🤗 Thank you for your inspirational videos!
This has to the best of your spontaneous paintings and it has rocks in it which I was waiting to see. Thank you.
Gosh, this is so gorgeous. I just started playing with watercolors and I love your videos!
yeah.....Thumps up
I just don't like 300# paper, It just doesn't respond the same way as 140#
Love these absolutely spontaneous watercolors! More please1
The rocks turned out amazing. Very beautiful.
I love your videos but the background music is too loud and distracting. Sorry.
Detail drunk....love it! hahaha
