Considering Keira makes a point about swimming out to the bay, there probably wasn't meant to be pontoons there at all...Then the playtesters just refused to swim lol
1:20 i can't believe they waited so late to put pontoons here. Regardless of how good or bad swimming feels in this game, since it's pretty well established that if you swim too far away, you'll get caught by the lurker fish, would have made so many players scared to try go to LPC in the first place. Even worse given the fact, on the same map going slightly over the pontoons in the way to boggy.
The way mountain pass looks kinda recontextualise Rock Lake for me. I already knew the colors and lighting weren't supposed to be final, but I never realized how far they could be from the way the level was actually supposed to look
Yeah that is the swimming animation in this build. But since it is a general difference instead of level-specific, it will be shown in the general differences video. Probably part 5.
8:25 Am I crazy or is having the spin kick play the same voice clip three times in a row like this impossible in the final game? I've never heard that before.
The swamp had some pretty cool details they removed like the skulls in the rat nests. Why did they remove it? To save a bit of memory or because it’s to scary for a kids game?
another fun fact about this build is that the voice acting seems to have zero processing on it and is the raw studio audio.
Yeah you can hear the recording studio employees in many audio in this build.
indeed. reminds me of the cut lines from the floating radio that were also unprocessed.

Same as any sane human being would have done.

I was wondering why that hidden spot with the robot arm had a gate there, I wonder why they decided to remove it.
I love this version. There are so many awesome things about it.
I really feel what made games so entertaining back in the day was the time the developers took to "polish" the game off. And it truly does show.
"Eehr" - Lurker Shark
No pontoons towards LPC was INSANE. My kid self would have never dared to swim there.
When you cross to LPC the only thing i heared was tun tun tun tun tun tun....
Thank you for all of the work you've done and continue to do for documenting Jak's history. This is amazing. :)
13:18 omg !

excited to see part 3, these are really interesting!
1:26 the ottsel is upside-down.

@@LuminarLight Cannot wait for 2025!

what i got from this is that the ND team REALLY likes round numbers
You are awesome. Should do this for Ratchet and clanks OG games as well haha

I don't think it is impossible that they removed the skulls to avoid getting a higher age rating. But we will never know.
Bump
Mountain pass looks so sick in this build
