The boat ride scene from Sandover to Misty Island reminds me of the game's first trailer (that trailer with the copyrighted soundtrack...) where the player is clearly seen controlling the camera that rotates around Jak. That's what surprised me in the beta. I'll wait to see more details in Part 2, it was interesting
2:08 I'm just picturing the level designer having an exec standing over his shoulder screaming at him, "THE GAME SHIPS OUT IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS! GET RID OF ALL THIS DAMN GRASS BY THE ORACLE!!!"
The level of detail they put into such minor things . . .and the difference it made in the end. You'll never see that in modern game design. Everything is always "good enough."
I recently came across to a very weird version of Jak 2, with a control guide image when you boot it up, not voice over at all and everything is compressed to a .bin/cue format, do you know anything about it? It is also playable until the end with no issues, it's not a weird demo or something like that, it is really strange
The number of orbs you can find matches the number the menu shows, unless I specify otherwise. In later levels the orb count in the menu rarely matches the real orb count of the level, and I clearly specify this in those cases.
lmao the pelican rocket is great, they should've kept that

Yeah it is a real weird change.
thank god they put a checkpoint at the end of fire canyon, now we can skip it!
They really polished this game up nice

Yes, these differences are mostly minor, and back then the game dev studios cared about refining every minor detail. As you said.
Yeah, modern games are like "uh, there's a lot of bugs and some weird things, but, who cares? Online stuff will make us rich 🤑 "

Hello, thank you for contacting me, we continued this on Discord.
What was it?
@@Theburgerhole Just a bootleg, but a high-effort one.
I only wonder where's the additional orbs were located or are they visible only in menu/stats
