  • Welcome to The Onyx Report's Daily Black Masculinist News, where we Black Male Justice Advocates uplift Black men and boys using critical analysis in today's video, "Alien Romulus: A Black Masculinist Review."
The Onyx Report is a program that critically analyzes the experiences, histories, and perceptions pertaining to Black males in American society across age, class, religion, sexuality, and occupation. I am your host, Dr. T. Hasan Johnson, Associate Professor of Africana Studies at Fresno State, Black Male Studies scholar, and Black Male Justice Advocate. In the program, we examine current events and major issues using an empirically-driven Black masculinist theoretical lens, thus including such concepts as the Black male dual economy, anti-Black misandry, phallicism, the subordinate male-target hypothesis, the subculture of violence theory, and the Black Gynarchy).
Our goal is to remind people-including Black men themselves-of Black male humanity. Join us every Wednesday at 5pm (pst), unless otherwise stated, on UA-cam, Facebook, and on every 1st & 3rd Wednesdays on www.InnerLightRadio.com.
Check out Dr. Johnson's book, 'Solutions For Anti-Black Misandry, Flat Blackness, and Black Male Death: The Black Masculinist Turn' at: www.routledge.....

@20:00 While a graduate student at UC Irvine, Ernie Smith, Ph. D. taught such courses as "The Philosophy of Black Radical Thought", and "Black Linguistics". He talked about the 3 ways Black men were portrayed in the media. The Clown, The Beast, and The Noble Savage. Carlton Moss (RIP), taught classes such as "The Image of the Black Man in Film", and "Minorities In Film" Your presentation brought back memories for me. I was a student at UCI from 1972 to 1979.

I've never seen this movie series as anything but this. Thank you for affirming the subconscious thoughts I've had since childhood.

@7:03 Yaphet Kotto (RIP) should have been the hero of the first ALIEN movie. All Veronica Cartwright had to do was just "GET OUTTA THE WAY! GET OUTTA THE WAY!"

Great review Doc, I like your breakdown of the black male character, there’s always some kind of asexualization or emasculation. I’m want to hear your thoughts on the casting of John Stewart, they cast the lightskinned Brit, Aaron Pierre, who was in the Netflix film, Rebel Ridge. I saw some discourse online that he wasn’t dark enough for the role. Before Black Panther and Miles Morales, John Stewart and Static were the most popular black male heroes for these born in late 90s/early 2000s. I hope they do the character justice, he’s my favorite character, the HBO Lanterns show is suppose to be earth based, not sure if that’s a good idea since Green Lantern is a space opera. They also made Hal Jordan an older man, I wasn’t expecting them to cast such an old actor for the role. I hope they eventually bring in his wife, Katma Tui, she’s a great character. Also, I’m sure you’re aware of the video of Obama scolding black men to vote for Kamala. Funny how no other group is being talked down to vote for anyone.

on the onyx media test i think you should re-word the 1st question to: "1. Do they dress as aliens, pet animals, etc. instead of looking like everyday Black males?" the way you worded the question, giving a score of 1/yes is positive. its either that or i've been reading too much and i don't know what words mean anymore. cool content.
