Up until this century it was the other way around, people got to try to look serious in their 20s. People who were wondering why the cast looks so teenage like young (including maybe those that might have seen the first movies as youngsters), got to thinking that prime time working class individuals in their 20 would look like people in their 30 now look. @mjung7331 I'm assuming the rope snapped once Ripley initiated the thrusters. So, the grapple hook and rope broke off with Big Chap, and the gun stayed on the ship with Ripley.
Aside from the cheesy "Get away from her" line and Xenos going from babies to full grown in a matter of literal minutes (they ARE on a doomsday clock after all), it was still pretty decent. The sets, directing, sound design and sfx (both practical & CG) were all fantastic! A solid 7/10 from me.

Okay Theory time, I remember in the beginning Tyler says "I know my COUSIN can be a dick" which he refers to Bjorn who was being mean to Andy. Later Kay mentions to Rain that her Baby Daddy is "Some Asshole" right, I'm thinking maybe its Bjorn. Why I say that is because when he gets back up and tries to stop Kay from making sound when the Xeno was hatching in the entrance, they make this weird like connection like they're together(Bro strokes her face). Kay is Tyler's sister we can conclude that I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm open to whatever but like wouldn't that baby be a result of Cousin Incest/Xeno/Engineer? I say this because I've seen the movie Barbarian, the monster has the same body structure of the Incested Monster too. Again, correct me if I'm wrong. I just wanted to give you guys something to think about.
I think it was confirmed that Bjorn was the father. I just want to know how that even happened? Were Kay's prospects that BAD? Along with you clearly see that Bjorn loves/cares for Navarro. My take, either a one night stand while drunk, or Kay wanted a sexual partner she could feel safe with and Bjorn was the only one who fit the bill.
It is instantly my third favorite in the franchise. I am so glad they went back to the horror roots and we still got to hear the beautiful, familiar sound of the pulse rifle as well. But this just makes me yearn even more for a sequel to the game, Alien: Isolation.
Hardly "excellent"! The last act was laughable and is already dividing people, and the link to Prometheus means we can pretty much guess where the prequels are going.
its was never a good alien series but after this long its still watchable, "xenomorph" combination or whatever is no longer a rocket science to us in 2024. Still in the end no-one talk about why why why human wanna pick up this bio weapon for.
This is a hit for me. You know a movie is great when at the start I am absolutely fuming about the dude sitting next to me not stfu, and 10 minutes in he shuts up and im fully immersed. Great to be back with great cinema!
I don't know about great but had some good scenes and worth watching but like any good horror movie you want to see the teenagers get naked and die because there stupid!!!!!!

I enjoyed the new director's art design and cinematography. In addition to the zero gravity acid avoidance scene, my favorite was when Tyler was pulled up to the Alien tunnel and 3 xenos were charging at him. That was a really cool perspective.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH. I SAW THE MOVIE AND FOUND THE PLOT DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW. YOUR EXPLANATION MAKES IT SO MUCH EASIER TO UNDERSTAND IT. AS A HUGE FAN OF THE ALIEN MOVIES I THANK YOU SO MUCH.
after watching the movie... it do teaches us one thing.. much always watch the video to the end. remember the video whereby it shows the experiment done to the rat? it regenerate, so it's alive... but it turns to something more. if Kay saw that video to the end, she probably wouldn't take that jab.
I think its not a true sequel to Alien. Its a mix of sequel and reboot for younger kids these days. Tough job. I thought the first 3 mins were promising but too many call backs later on and the one thing that really bothered me was that the Xeno's looks small isch. When andy landed on the Xeno in the shaft, it looks tiny. When compared to Alien or even Alien 4. I felt they weren't imposing enough. Overall still a fun movie. 7/10.
Well one of the Xenos was a newborn and the ones crawling through the ceiling vents when dude got pulled up and torn apart, were definitely bigger. You just dont get to get a full scale because then it goes right into a slow motion, shaky cam, epilepsy seizure in zero gravity when they finally all reveal themselves.
You summed up exactly how i felt about it. They made the xenos smaller on purpose to make the ending more scary and threatening. That hybrid thing was huge. I mean i get it kinda, we've seen xenos so much they just aren't scary anymore. They're cool! It's sad in a way, but this monster has been around so long it's hard to scare ppl with it anymore. Also i hated all the callbacks. it cheapened the movie and made it feel like separate i guess? to the franchise
one thing people missed, the quota was to motivate them, the guy did not discover the space station by chance, it was the company that sent them in that direction.
I thought maybe the station was meant to collide with the Jackson Star mine so that the xenonomorphs could spread to all 3000 of them. That was just what I thought.

The original was a slow burn/ suspenseful movie, and Alien 2 more action packed and others were decent. The new one is not bad either but mostly more of the same. They tried the slow burn again, but we already knew what was coming, unlike the unknown shock of the original(s)..Still glad i went to see it but true fans of the franchise will definitely see what i mean..guaranteed.😏( i am curious though what they'll do with the hybrid creature in the inevitable sequel..maybe their chance to do something different)🤔...Makes you kinda appreciate the Promethius and Alien Covenant movies for their different take.
I’m a true fan of this lore but still loving this new addition. It is the same plot but brings something new. My butthole clenched all the time. The character(although looking a bit too young) were not dumb like the covenant crew. Plus covenant is “new” to you ?? That was a pile of crap. Should toss it away from the franchise
Yeahhhhhh, I would had rather had the Prometheus trilogy finished over a retelling of the original movie, Star Wars did the same thing with episode 7 and Hollywood is constantly playing it too safe with these things..
I 100% agree. Did not care for the paint by numbees recycling of previous scenes in the franchise. The "get away from her... you bitch" moment was particularly cringe. Regarding the future... perhaps they will try and do a human-xeno hybrid character one is meant to root for. But done far better than Ripley 8 from Resurrection.
Yeah it was all a throw back. And I think the face huggers in the hall with the body temperature change looked fake. I feel like the magic and secrets of practical effects have died over time and it wasnt quite revitalized by this film. Good try and a decent film..but no cigar. I still embrace every alien movie and watch it hoping for a revelation. This film had no revelations it was all pure fever dream nostalgia.
I loved the movie, I loved the aesthetics and how they're going back to the original Alien roots. The one thing that bother me is how HARD they went on the references to the other movies, ranging from props that were in the original movies, sound bites, direct quotes from the movies and even direct frames from the other movies. It felt like a fan service movie that was trying to send a clear message: "hey, look, I'm cool like Alien and Aliens".
I actually liked the final act. The baby monster was something different and truly nightmarish. I would like though a future alien movie that focuses only on the Xenomorphs
I don’t know why no one is talking about this or realised, that the creature In the end of alien Romulus looked exactly like an engineer and alien combined 😂
Because it was obvious and didn't need further explanation. Engineers are the perfect form created from exenomorph compound. The compound that Kay injected herself with was a rejected version of the compound mixed with engineer/xenomorph genetics. The compound wasn't Perfected yet and still needed to be refined for the perfect compound form.

@@agauerm My friends and I are all huge fans of the franchise and agree it's a solid movie and easily 3rd best. The atmosphere, sound, practical effects, and some of the horror and space sequences were absolutely stunning, and the ending made the entire theatre gasp. Solid movie, you're just salty and bitter.
Technically, you could continue the story with Rain and Andy in Cryo sleep. A Wayland Yutani vessel is shadowing them wanting to get the Prometheus 5 compound as Ruck sent a blast transmission of the ship they escaped on before the Romulans station was destroyed. The Wayland operatives get the compound and destroy the Navigation Computer to prevent the ship from reaching any destination. They also take Andy but leave Rain.
Call me crazy, I got a feeling Kay, might still be alive… because she still has that black stuff she injected herself with inside her body and we didn’t see Rain, eject the body. So anything can happen in that 9 year trip.
Yes I agree, is everyone missing that? She was being fed upon by her hybrid child, but the scene she were she shows the black goo now her blood leaves me to believe she’s still alive and likely fully recovered & mutated upon the arrival after waking from chyro sleep.
@@D.P.MorrisConstruction the hybrid was sucking the black goo out of her breast just like a human newborn but by the time Raine got there most of her flesh was eaten aside from her head so no more Kay unfortunately

So glad the Facehuggers finally got their flowers. They were almost more of a threat than the Xenos themselves. And the Engineer-esque Offspring was creepy as hell.
That was kinda the idea, a bunch of young 20 year olds that were basically slaves trying to make an escape, not knowing any of the real risks. That young ideology also played a huge factor into why the characters acted the way they did throughout the movie. dude being sour to androids from his mother passing, the girl hiding her pregnancy from her brother and eventually making illogical decisions based on emotions surrounding those issues.
That was an excellent.movie. I was too young to see the original Alien on the big screen. I loved that it kept the Aesthetic of the original Alien movie.
Yeah this movie sucked! Just checked all their bs agenda marks! Diverse chick saves black dude from evil random white dudes … oh and weak xenomorphes thrown in there
Yes. They try to ignore that it was a nuclear blast that destroyed Nostromo, so it would have totally disintegrated. If anything did remain intact then it would be hurtling through the vacuum of space at hyper speed away from that point basically forever.
In script writing there is the device of the 'ticking time bomb' that must be stopped before it goes off. They created this device in a very clever way, a space craft being pulled into the orbit of an ice ring. Adding this element to the movie was a stroke of genius.
The SAVE Station and the Generator switch were great touches and nice easter eggs if you ever played Alien isolation game. As a fan, it is great to see the director putting all these hints in the movie.
Saw it last nite WONDERFUL, EXCITING, FRIGHTENING, WARM. IT HAS IT ALL. The friendships, the scary aliens and it's babies. I think they call them "Xenomorphs" pronounced Zen-o- morphs?. Totally scary. I want to see it again.!!!
A great cross of Ridley Scott's questions about sentience and masterful horror/suspense. Going to see it again this week while it's still in big formats.
*Question for those who already saw it: (below) I don't get where the company got all of those face huggers from. Big Chap wasn't a queen. There were no eggs in the Nostromo wreckage. So is there a Canonic reason, or is this just another creative freedom that will have to be retconned later?
I haven’t watched the movie yet, but in the first alien movie, the xenomorph showed the ability to morph human hosts into eggs so perhaps they allow this xenomorph to do that with some unwilling subjects? It’s just a theory but given it was in the first movie when no queen was present it’s a curious concept
@@Dragonlady141 Yes i think Xenos have the ability to create eggs by other means in the absence of a queen. And have the ability to create an egg with a facehugger able to create the queen.
I didn't like that the pule rifle had "400 rounds" when the ones later had 99 before a reload but it wasn't bad. Annoying characters with difficult to hear accents and references that didn't make complete sense but were just fan service I would put it 3rd or 4th enough old looking tech and I didn't mind the Rook cgi
It felt like litt a mash up of the two act 1= Alien act 2 Aliens. With a few other things sprinkled in there. Prometheus and resurrection. This was cool fan service for OG fans.
The substantial difference between Z-01 and Black Goo is that the former was synthesized from the cells of a xenomorph, while the latter from those of a different species, but genetically linked to the previous one.
Romulus is good but it could have been better . I think that weird thing at end caused it be 9/10 . But Fede did great . Better than covenant and Prometheus
Nothing is perfect.... But honestly Prometheus is my 3rd favourite alien movie and then Romulus... Prometheus is very underrated but that is one of my favourite movie of all time
Prometheus is more of a philosophical Alien movie that explores a lot with Christianity. I personally loved it so much. Covenant dropped the ball for me and was just more of a over the top action movie. It should've explored what happened when they got to the planet.
@@Mass-produced I agree there's so much more to Prometheus than just an alien movie.. but it can be related to alot more than just Christianity, llke Anunaki of Sumerians, greek mthology etc. In the Anunaki theory there was 2 alien brothers one of them kept us as slaves the other loved us and gave us knowledge by altering our dna... In Greek mythology Prometheus loved humans and gave them fire(knowledge) against Zeus will..... In Christianity god warned humans against eaating the fruit of knowledge but Lucifer told them to eat it so he gave us knowledge... you see theyre all connected

One thing I really dislike about this movie is that in previous movies, it would take a few hours before the xenomorph bursts out of the host, but in this one, it takes them about 5 to 10 minutes to burst out. Maybe 15 minutes, but it all happens very fast.
The aliens died in ways we’ve seen in other films and logical ways, there was a moment I was like ‘why isn’t it killing her’ but it was keeping her for a face hugger. What do you think nerfed them?
Yea I agree, they're more vicious in previous films "they'll think you're a threat if you have a weapon" that's just bs. I didn't like the movie honestly. Seemed like a recycled idea. Also the xeno-human hybrid was a bit much. Cool but idk.

Yeah. At the start I felt bad for them as they were all going to died as teenagers.

Yeah they were probably still in orbit when the Queen was cast out into space so it probably burnt up in the atmosphere of LV 426
my question how did the rope come off the ship when the hook was still on the ship that ripley was on
@mjung7331 I'm assuming the rope snapped once Ripley initiated the thrusters. So, the grapple hook and rope broke off with Big Chap, and the gun stayed on the ship with Ripley.
Didn't they show a hooked queen skeleton on the ship?
Aside from the cheesy "Get away from her" line and Xenos going from babies to full grown in a matter of literal minutes (they ARE on a doomsday clock after all), it was still pretty decent. The sets, directing, sound design and sfx (both practical & CG) were all fantastic! A solid 7/10 from me.
I agree, they did so many line drops from the other movies it was feeling a bit corny. They were trying to pump us full of nostalgia when i really just wanted to watch something great and original. The ending saved the film in my opinion

I think you are onto something
Not gonna lie I did wonder if the human xeno hybrid would end up looking like Bjorn 😂
Also right after she tells Rain she's pregnant, there's a shot of Navarro just down below them looking as if she's about to cry from hearing them
I think it was confirmed that Bjorn was the father. I just want to know how that even happened? Were Kay's prospects that BAD? Along with you clearly see that Bjorn loves/cares for Navarro.
My take, either a one night stand while drunk, or Kay wanted a sexual partner she could feel safe with and Bjorn was the only one who fit the bill.
i can understand your view. nice
It is instantly my third favorite in the franchise. I am so glad they went back to the horror roots and we still got to hear the beautiful, familiar sound of the pulse rifle as well. But this just makes me yearn even more for a sequel to the game, Alien: Isolation.

there are also dwarfed degenerate species among aliens. nature is not always fair here either
Also i hated all the callbacks. it cheapened the movie and made it feel like separate i guess? to the franchise
exactly, feels like a bad fanfic... The whole movie is a mish mash of repurposed scenes from different Alien movies, horrible
one thing people missed, the quota was to motivate them, the guy did not discover the space station by chance, it was the company that sent them in that direction.
I thought maybe the station was meant to collide with the Jackson Star mine so that the xenonomorphs could spread to all 3000 of them. That was just what I thought.

***SPOILER ALERT***was almost a total repeat on the original Alien and some of the other sequals....different characters but still heres just some of the similarities....spoiler alert..1) hybrid human/ Xeno..2)slipping into space suit to get rid of alien..3)evil robot/science officer ripped apart ( but still communicating evilness) ..4) other nicer android...5)female lead...6) impregnated crew member(giving birth to aforementioned hybrid creature...7) creatures in water ( this time only the face huggers)...8)Space ship on course to be destroyed...9)crew member smoking..10)Ripley like character learning how to use weapon....11) and of course potential acid burning thru hull of ship...all i can remember right now ( there was more)..but in short..seems made for a new audience that wasn't around when the other movies were made,or just hadn't seen them.

Yeah it was all a throw back. And I think the face huggers in the hall with the body temperature change looked fake. I don’t know why no one is talking about this or realised, that the creature In the end of alien Romulus looked exactly like an engineer and alien combined 😂
Because it was obvious and didn't need further explanation. Engineers are the perfect form created from exenomorph compound. I don't get where the company got all of those face huggers from.
