There is absolutely no need to take hoses or pully off the power steering pump. Merely unbolt power steering pump with hoses attached. Also no need to mess with the tensioner pully assembly other than to remove serpentine belt. Once electric fan is out of the way there is full access to the alternater.

I just replaced the alternator, belt tensioner, and belt yesterday and i didn't have to pull any lines for the power steering. I unbolted it and just laid it back across the top of the valve cover. This was a 2005 i was working on.

I hope people read the comments before working on their element. There is no need to undo the power steering lines or remove pulley, just flip it all back. Don’t remove the fan either, just shift it a couple inches to drivers side. This job can be don’t in maybe 1/4 of the time it took you. 😅

After doing this job ot seems pretty insane to disconnect hoses and pulleys on the power steering pump. Just unbolt it and place it out of your way.

Thank you so much I just did my alternator with your video side-by-side probably one of the best videos of ever seen if it wasn’t for you, I’d be dead. Thank you so much.

The vid is for changing out the alternator. He acts like part of that process is to replace the tensioner for a new one. Is that right? If you ever pull out the tensioner, you automatically HAVE to toss it and put in a new one? Why not put the old one back in?

I guess this guy likes to do a lot of extra work...just unbolt the power steering pump and set it aside. I recently did this myself

Are those two bolts on the bottom of the alternator different lengths? I have two bolts left at the end and they are different lengths. I'm not talking about the top bolt that is like three times as long. The bottom two are about 1/2" different in length. Which side does the long one go on?

After the 5th “now you gotta take this off” my nerves starting scrambling 🤣 half of it seems useless other than for more room to use deep sockets on every bolt

So, just pulled my passenger side fan out, as per the video. I yanked some wire from somewhere attached to the bottom of the housing. Not sure what it goes to, it is a single blue wire harness, male to female disconnect (busted because I just pulled it up and out like the video). I can not find anything about it anywhere on the internet...So I disconnected the power on the top of the fan as shown in the video, yanked it up and out, and have this stray blue wire attached to the bottom harness clips. No way I can reach down there to reconnect it, hope its not important!

This is the most overly complicated video on this subject. The power steering pump can be removed with two bolts without disrupting the fluid. DO NOT FOLLOW THIS VIDEO
