Centavo by Warm Audio. Designed and assembled in Austin, Texas. Austin has given us more than one (SRV) outstanding guitar God. I believe Warm Audion nailed it in this reproduction of that mysterious "K" pedal.
Yeah, this Klon thing got a lot of peoples money. In a mix it just isn’t that huge a thing. It’s really just about eq when in a mix. Soulfood, Tumnus, Archer all do a very good job at sounding close enough in a mix.
Guys, a real serious drive with an insanely great sound is the Mad Professor Simble Overdrive. It’s supposed to be a Dumble and does it well, but it does other sounds that are so different than other drives and lovingly lush.
in the states the Klon was a genuinely very popular pedal among studio, but particularly live playing pros in the early to mid 2000s, when they were available direct and for roughly 250$. It is a fundamentally very good performance overdrive so it unsurprisingly found itself everywhere but this is no different than roger mayer or cornish stuff or analogman...all similarly low(ish) in production number, found on pro boards BUT reasonably, somewhat, priced di from the manufacturers until they werent. Something happened with the Klon thats hard to make sense of, I mean maybe its all John Mayer? Hard to believe a single player can change the market like that but we see other stuff move in that direction. Especially since the Klon isnt rare, thousands were made
I bought a $20 klon clone thats great sounding except because the pedal chassis is mini it gets unnerving 60 cycle hum and it probably because of the grounding or true bypass possibly but I got a warm audio to see if that problem subsides lol great video
If overdrive tone was a 0-60mph test. In the end, nobody cares because no one can tell the difference. :)

I’ve had a gold and a silver klon back when they were selling around $600. I have bought every single Klone on the market since then. The KTR is the closest to a silver Klon Centaur. Spot on. And it was carefully tuned and set up by Bill Fennigan himself.. and that dude is VERY picky about his product. I think the KTR took him over two years to get exactly right before he would let go of his baby. The original early gold klon I had was magic… but I preferred the slight differences or slightly tighter bass of the silver Klon and KTR. Looking my back… I regret selling that gold Klon for $700. Not just for the investment but the cool factor…
The Tumnus IMHO has a better tone control, which I notice a lot of the copies also have the same update(?)... am currently using a J Rocket Ikon which is very good.

However… I stuck an old Keeley c4 compressor with the compression at around 11 to add the Centavo, but without it pushing the Warmdrive, or pushing it with the comp off.
I would like to see Lee and Pete do a shootout with the real Klon and the cheapest version available, the fabled Mosky Golden Horse, which I just love and use on my pedalboard! be very interesting to see the difference! thanks guys!
@6:33 with headphones on, I was able to discern from the Tumnus clarity vs the Klons 100% It's all about tolerances of the pots...
the warmdrive is an incredible sounding pedal! 😉
Honestly, my 25 quid one from Wish sounds just the same!
I bought a Tumnus off the last shootout and this just made me even happier I did
I really want to hate the klon because of the hype, but it just sounds awesome with full gain.
many people seem to forget that... a cranked Klon is ROCK heaven!
11:07 - 11:11 An image I will NEVER get out of my head and will cause nightmares for years to come......😳😂
I got the Warm Drive, it’s really smooth and sweet. I love it.
The RYRA Klone sounds just as good.
Literally no shortage of this sound/feel out there now
The difference is more apparent when you use it to push a TS. In that scenario I much preferred the RYRA over the tumnus. On its own the tumnus is the winner
Really enjoy Pete as your presenting partner, such smooth multidimensional player
Staying with my Tumnus Deluxe yah
THE TUMNUS HAS MORE MODERN HIGHS AND MORE HIGH MIDS ,THE KLON IS STILL THE WARMEST
I like Brian Wampler a lot, but many of his pedals sound too hi-fi imho
When it was obscured, I couldn't even tell you were switching. Identical...
Yep.
Imagine owning a klon and having John Mayer muck it up.
Centavo by Warm Audio. Designed and assembled in Austin, Texas. Austin has given us more than one (SRV) outstanding guitar God. I believe Warm Audion nailed it in this reproduction of that mysterious "K" pedal.
I Loooooove my Tumnus! My favourite drive
Centavo sounds great, but Tumnus saves a lot of space
Sounds silly but I'd want the wsmpler more if they'd ve put it in the Klon size box too.
Yeah, this Klon thing got a lot of peoples money. In a mix it just isn’t that huge a thing. It’s really just about eq when in a mix. Soulfood, Tumnus, Archer all do a very good job at sounding close enough in a mix.
THE WOMPLER FOR ME, FOR ITS SIZE AWESOME, IT WAS AGAINST REAL HEAVY WEIGHTS KILLER.
I think I constantly preferred the centavo
Alphonse Hermidia did the original Zen Drive and the "Lovepadal" version is completely different inside.
I wish there was something to compare but there isn't - when it comes tone. The money & looks do vary slightly.
Guys, a real serious drive with an insanely great sound is the Mad Professor Simble Overdrive.
It’s supposed to be a Dumble and does it well, but it does other sounds that are so different than other drives and lovingly lush.
I sold a twimble a few years back. A few regrets there.
in the states the Klon was a genuinely very popular pedal among studio, but particularly live playing pros in the early to mid 2000s, when they were available direct and for roughly 250$. Especially since the Klon isnt rare, thousands were made
I bought a $20 klon clone thats great sounding except because the pedal chassis is mini it gets unnerving 60 cycle hum and it probably because of the grounding or true bypass possibly but I got a warm audio to see if that problem subsides lol great video
ive got the tumnus, just a nice organic crunch
Im glad to see other affordable options out there.
That warm drive reminds me of a Crowther Hot Cake. Thick and crunchy.
If overdrive tone was a 0-60mph test.
Klon (Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300): $4,00,000
Centavo (Porsche 911 Turbo): $250,000
Tumnus (BMW M4): $100,000
They all accomplish the same goal with a fractionally noticeable difference in performance.
In the end, nobody cares because no one can tell the difference. :)
Someone needs to reproduce the Klon case, then everyone can put the guts from their favorite Klon Copy in it.
It’ll look like you have a Real Klon and make everyone happy!😁😁😁😁😁
The guy that makes the cases will get wealthy!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I don’t need a Klon, not my thing.
I always use an EP3 and the pre is my sound...😬😬😬😬
The Tumnus IMHO has a better tone control, which I notice a lot of the copies also have the same update(?)... am currently using a J Rocket Ikon which is very good.
tumnus is different... i hear the difference, klon is much warmer, but centavo is something in the middle. maybe centavo is the right price/quality!
You’re out playing with the real Klon and they’ve got their back to you because nobody cares anyway. Funny Pete.
Lol I bought a second hand Archer last week. Sounds great, but I don't understand the modern hype around the O.G Klon. Especially when there's plenty of regular price options that nail the vibe lol
It's just about the prestige....if you're just after that sound, you're good with the archer....I'm happy with my centavo and see no need to have an original klon.
I wouldn't pay more than 150 for ANY OD/distortion box unless it was completely stuffed with cocaine.
