In this video I'll describe how you can fix your Nespresso machine replacing the bearing or putting some grease inside old one if it's still good also how you can reach to the pipe that sometimes blocks and stops the water.
    Tools you'll need:
    Screwdriver T20 T9 Flat
    Parts:

Just spent about 2 hours following this video to replace the bearing, as well as pretty thoroughly cleaning as many parts and pieces as possible. It was totally worth the time and effort. The bearing only costs $6on Amazon, and a good set of electronics screwdrivers was maybe $8-$12 more. Now I can fix loads of other fidgety things around the house! REMEMBER TO PHOTOGRAPH AS YOU GO EACH TIME YOU DISCONNECT OR REMOVE SOMETHING, BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER! I left a key part out and luckily caught my error. My only suggestion/comment would be that a fair amount of the video is not properly framed to get the parts of the coffee maker or the process involved. Worth a re-do, I think. Thanks for the helpful and informative video.

Thank you so much. I bought a used machine and after many cleaning cycles I was still getting gunk out. I’m sure it could use a new bearing but your video helped me disassemble it so I could clean all the dirt out. Thank you! Now I’m off to find a video on how to flush out that rubber tube. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Dude thank you so much! I had taken the top off but didn’t know how to get to the bearing. I cleaned the bearing out with some brakleen and metal picks, and added some brake grease lol. I had to leave the room before because the machine was so loud, now it’s insanely quiet. I love fixing things and this was the most helpful video. Thanks man

Thank you for this excellent guide. I followed your instructions and replaced the bearing. The machine is significantly quieter now. Key learning for me was to ensure the correct alignment of the open part of the rim on the little metal nozzle attached to the hose with the tiny raised plastic piece (in direction of hose). If you don’t do this, you’ll get watery coffee and water leaks. Thank you Andrew in the thread below.

Hi Robert, I noticed the little nozzle had a notch in it. I thought it was broken but saw that it was machined that way but I couldn't see a "slot" or something similar on the rubber connector. I just put it back in the house thing hoping for the best.I made one cup of coffee and nothing leaked. Should I notice if it is misaligned right away? Thanks. Rhonda

    • @robertmooney9714

@@rhondabroadfoot2073 It should face the direction that the hose is coming from when the dial is in the unlocked position. If you look really closely, perhaps with a flashlight, you will see a slightly raised section where the nozzle goes (at about 11 o’clock) and when you align the notch with that, the nozzle sits 100% flush.

I have watched several videos on this problem, and you video is by far the most helpful. My bearing completely seized up, so all I was getting when attempting to make a coffee was a clicking noise for a few seconds, followed by a blinking error. I think it was repeating, 2 blinks, then pause, and repeat. Thank you SO MUCH, you just saved me $230+ I've ordered, installed the new bearing and now my Vertuoline is working perfectly.

Suggestion for DYI: use a parts container to keep track of all the small bits as you remove them.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge on how to quiet our mornings in the kitchen. No longer do we need to turn up NPR on the radio each time we make a cup of coffee. I ordered bearings through Amazon and went to town on our Vertuo just as you instructed in your video. When doing so, the small hollow metal tube in my water line came out and I put it back in but apparently did not line up the small 3/4 round washer on it with the little notch on the surface that it rests on. I reassembled the unit with the new bearing ring and proceeded to put all my tools away before testing the unit. When I tested it, the water leaked out of the bottom of the unit below the water tank. I remembered that I had reinstalled the small metal tube and thought perhaps therein lay the problem. I pulled out my tools again and took the machine apart for a second time. I pulled out the water hose and looked it over. It took a little bit to find the notch but then proceeded to line up the washer with the notch, reassembled the unit and all works fine. Thanks so much for producing the video and helping out thousands who have been yelling conversations to their spouses each time a cup of coffee is being brewed!

  • @Velocotrack
    @Velocotrack 3 місяці тому +2

Thanks for this great video. After completion it all worked great except it only produced hot water. I also found that the small circlip on the central metal tube was the problem. There is a very small nub on the black plasic part where the circlip sits, and it is essential that the gap in circlip fits over this nub or it does not set properly. Thanks again.

    Thank u. This worked great.
My bearing had seased up completely a couple times so I was ready to replace it. I was able to get machine working while a bearing arrived by manually rotating the part that pokes holes in the capsule but it ran very loud.
Once the replacement bearing arrived, I found out that just cleaning the bearing and adding some oil (without removing the ball bearing covers) worked great. The bearing was covered in coffee so all it seemed to need was a good cleaning.

Just followed instructions. Pulled the bearing out of the housing. Didn’t feel like buying a new one and waiting so i just spun the inside part of the bearing until it loosened up. Did that for about 2 minutes to make sure nothing is lodged in there and it was spinning freely. Put it all back together. And now the machines works. If it happens again I’ll buy a new bearing. Thank you for the detailed instructional. It was easy to follow.

I found your video very helpful and after bearing replacement the machine is quiet. I have several suggestions to make the process more clear. First, the use of a focused light such as a headlamp when working on the underside on the will allow one to see how to disengage the chrome cover more easily at the front of the machine. Second, I suggest that you alter the camera angle a bit so that the process you are doing is centered on the screen. Lastly, the way to insure alignment when re-installing the chrome cover is to close the machine and insure it's fully in lock position, before placing the cover on. Then, by holding the lever in the locked position as the cover is placed, it has to engage properly.

I'm thankful for the video. The old bearing was crusty from corrosion and a lot of use. I ordered a new bearing from Amazon and the replacement process went smoothly. I did have a problem on reassembly that is worth noting though and not included in the instructions. Water leaked out of the cap being held by the four screws preventing the machine from working properly. On closer examination, I noted that the short metal pipe which inserts into the end of the rubber supply line has a "C" ring on it. (When I disassembled my unit, the short pipe came out of the rubber supply line). On reassembly, and when inserting the short metal pipe into the top of the head of the unit, it is important to align the gap in the "C" ring with the plastic tab within the head, otherwise it doesn't provide a proper seal and causes a leak under pressure from the pump. Once I noted this, the machine operated flawlessly. Thanks again for your video, you have saved many people a lot of $ in repairs by Nespresso, or having to purchase a replacement.

Thank you so much for your informative video! I feel like the proverbial frog in a pot of slowly boiling water. I've owned my machine for years and lost track of just how loud my machine had become. I wanted to approach this with a little bit of science and downloaded a decibel meter app for my phone so that I could take volume readings before and after the bearing replacement. I was sure to take both measurements at a consistent distance of 2 feet with identical placement. The max decibel reading before replacing the bearing was a crazy 97 dB. With the new bearing, the max reading dropped to 73 dB. With the logarithmic nature of the dB scale, the 24 db drop equates to 1/8th the volume! The difference is staggering and wonderful! I accidentally ordered the standard steel bearing instead of the stainless/ceramic ones that you recommended. I received 6 bearings for the same price as one stainless steel bearing. I'll see how long the standard bearings last...perhaps as long as the other critical components on the machine which might break before rust becomes a problem. Either way, I'll be able to replace it 5 more times :) Thanks again!

Terrific video, I followed along step by step and worked like a charm! If you liked (or still like) Lego, you'll love this. Like many have said, use a container for the small screws and springs. Also take pictures at each step before you take things apart so you can easily refer back in case you get lost.
When I put my machine back together, I ran three cleaning cycles and some grounds came out, probably from being kicked loose. So be sure to do this before you brew your next cup of coffee.
Also a note on the silicone water hose: there is a metal pipe that must be lined up perfectly with the hose and the plastic cover. Make sure you line them up correctly when putting the machine back together or it won't seal properly and you'll get watery coffee and a leaky machine.

So I'm back to report that with roughly twice daily use, it took the standard bearings 5 months to fail again. The stainless/ceramic bearings are not a place to save money. They are a must if you'd like this repair to last! I just installed the new stainless bearings and am sure these will last longer. The standard bearing was in absolutely horrible shape...far worse than the original that lasted 8 years. Thanks again for your helpful video!

I did all you said and cleaned the bearing and filled it with wheel grease. It was easy with your video (even if it wasn't always clear). Good explanations though. I managed to reinstall everything without remaining parts...youppi. The greasing didn't eliminate the noise. I guess I will have to order a new bearing. Thank you.

This amazing video helped me fix my Nespresso, this is not only a fix for the noise, with my machine, the bearing change helped me with the problem of watery brew. This was happening because the bad bearing didn’t allow it to spin fast enough to push the water through the grinds

My machine was stuck in a cycle of blinking lights (would blink twice repeatedly) and when trying to reset or run in clean and descale mode the engine would make a click sound like it was stuck. After spending 30 minutes with Nespresso support, their conclusion was to send it in for repair ($150) or buy a new machine. Thank goodness I found this video because I was able to take the machine apart, soaked the parts shown in a bowl of white vinegar, cleaned with hot water and put back together. Machine is back up and running.

BEWARE: I definitely appreciate the video, of course. Thanks! BUT there are several steps that are too easy to get wrong. (Also, be very careful not to lose any of the springs.) NOTES: When disassembling: the bearing component (8:00), for me, required pliers (appears finger tight in video) ..... When reassembling, some steps RomaFix noted but deserve added emphasis:
    1) 10:54 proper alignment of the 4-screw spring holder. I got that wrong, creating a puzzle and wasting time.
    2) 11:10 water feed (triangular) head must be pressed in FIRMLY. He glossed over this tiny step and I failed to do this firmly enough. This caused machine to express mostly clear water and VERY little coffee (reduced essential pressure somehow). I had to re-do the whole process! Weird, since the water hose head attachment was all I did very slightly differently.
    3) 13:30 alignment is very important BEFORE screwing the top back on. If you lock the top w/o the lever in proper alignment, the top will not unlock until you unscrew the 4 screws holding the top cover on and get at the 2 plastic clips somehow (1:47), which is a real pain. I ended up breaking these clips, which seems to affect nothing at all - feel free to break them, IMHO. Also, they do NOT un-clip nearly as easily as he showed.
Generally, the process is NOT as easy as suggested. I'm very handy and yet made a lot of little mistakes.
MY PROBLEM?: I think I viewed the video mostly in large chunks (and at 1.5x speed - bad idea!) and figured it would be obvious. I should have watched a step, paused the video and did that one step and proceed that way step by step, pausing for almost every step.

I also experienced the issue with weak/clear coffee through the the brewing process after following this video. I found that between not firmly connecting the water line and having the little metal connector tube firmly seated between the line and the brewing head was and issue. Also, I overtightened the screws which seems to have been a problem as well.

Thank you for step by step on how to open the machine. P.S. if bearing is in good condition pay close attention to the bottom part that get screwed onto the bearing. Similar to dogs on a washing machine they can be stuck in position and they should be able to spin freely all 4 dogs clean free up and replace if not broken, this should also repair the load sound when spinning.

Thanks, our machine is so quiet now. However we had so much trouble trying to get the part with the big spring back in place we just did not have the strength in our arthritic thumbs to get it back in. It took almost two hours of pushing down we actually ended up cracking the plastic so hopefully the machine will last until the next FREE with capsule purchase offer.

Edited: I successfully changed the ball bearing, the noise subsided but it’s not making the coffee properly. I think I might have tightened to much at some point. Now I definitely need to buy another machine.
***Thank you for the video. I got it, I changed it!!! Very proud of myself. I have this machine for 5 years and I thought the noise was normal wear and tear.
So let me tell you that it’s not that simple. You will get frustrated and you will probably need an extra hand at some point. Another tip: mine is a De’Longhi model. Don’t close it! The spring on the left side won’t open it by pressing it.
When removing the big spring, inside that part is really hard to turn counterclockwise, my husband helped me with a plier. No more noise! I think I’ll stay with this machine for now! 😊

Best way to align at the end is to lock the lid like you are making coffee and it easily aligns. Great video and thanks - mine was so lout you could hear it outside of my house. I did buy a new one, but I figured I'd give it a try and this video really helped. Now it's very quiet and now I have 2 Nespresso machines - might take one to work or something. Took under an hour. I bought the bearings on amazon - got 2 for $8.
