Carvin is a great high-end guitar (& amp )brand! No low-end guitars like these brands do : Jackson-Dean -Hamer-BC Rich or ESP LTD made in Korea-China-Indonesia.
Great job on the restoration and clever cheap fix for the back electronics cover. I personally would have gone for some sort of "Cherry Pie" refinish on this.
Ppl just dont know about carvin...i mean the insane value! Specially in the used ones. About 6 months ago i bought a dc400 with the ever sought after "dragon-burst finish"(seriously look some pics up) and it absolutely ruined all my other guitars in that very moment...lol as in iv sold/traded almost ALL my others i had at the time! Part of it was the 25" scale. About 1½ weeks later i traded for a bc rich mockingbird legacy ST. It has 24¾" scale and its the only guitar i was willing to play(at the time i had a schecter hellraiser hybrid pt, ibanez js24p(satriani's model) and az242f, ltd M-1000ht koa, and a newer charvel dk24 HH and more i cant remember. The shorter scale made the rest feel the guitar was fighting against me...lol im stoned.
Waaay cool, Dane ! I LOVE these garbage to glitter guitars. Robert is killin it! They always look stunning 👍 And the guitar matches your shoes! Nice. Take care,
Loved the makeover, awesome idea for the DVD backplate. I have to wonder why you got rid of the neck pick up instead of leaving it in, replacing if necessary to match the bridge pickup. Didn't removing it hurt the resale value as a Carvin? Fun looking project. 👍
Having some pickguard raw material laying around is never a bad thing, its fairly hard and durable and can be used for all kinds of things. A coping saw will give you a rough outline and a dremel does the fine tuning.
I had never seen a Carvin version of the Kahler that is just a licensed Floyd Rose before this. That one even has the notch for the Kahler Auto-Latch. Very cool stuff!
I would love to have one of my guitars with a black and red crackle finish. By far my favorite finish. I live in New Mexico. How much would it cost to do a Strat body?
@@megatodd707 thanks man my pops owned many body and hotrod ships but never let me paint anything. I remember he was. I a UTA weekend with the 302nd from Peterson color springs I stole his keys to shop, and me and friend he has pinto w a 302 in it and wanted flames on the hood I remember there was candy apple red and candy brandy whine the brandy was used on a 38 Chevy stret rid my dad built for the head chef at garden 9f the gods. Well I did silver base over the hood and the red masked off for the flames and. Did them in Gold. Now we did this at night and we did it in about 2 hrs total so there were figure prints in the not cure paint and scratches from the sanding . But it looks good from 5ft and both sides matched up for the flames .. that was the first and only thing I painted I that ship 😂😂 I did not start doing guitar till 15/16 years ago when my dad was still with us. Wish he could she my stuff now..
I have 4 video files it's not in the process of painting the garage gets quiet foggy with the over spray. It's hard to shoot tvieo on the pho e and spray clear and what not 😂 I can mege them and upload them that's. The best I can do I can email you the steps I do and what prosucts I use. Don't want tellmallmy secrets I might have to make a business out of this if and when my mom leaves this. Rock
well it's called garbage to glitter or flake as I call .it ain't garbage to crackle. just figured I'd add the flake under the crackle it would have looked like real garbage if I did it in top of it all
Carvins can be hard to label. Could be a 127. 145 or 135 minus the middle pickup. A 125 with added pickup and tone control. I know in the early days they even had options of putting different electronics in different models. I had a '93 TL60 with 127 electronics.
i am a filmaholic/movie critic... Click is actually a good movie. You should try watching it again sometime and give it a second chance like you do with these guitars. For sure not Sandler's best film but comming from a dvd collector you should give it another go. Next time really consider taking some work to the local CNC operator, That guitar deserved it and a better buff job.

That's awesome Dane! I had 3 Carvin's in the 80's. They are great guitars!
That's a cool guitar! Awesome finish too.
Painter is LEGIT. Does super work, and super valid for the 80's period correct.
That sounds killer. What an amazing paint job! Congrats on keeping a great instrument in circulation that may have been lost and improving it!
This guitar is on Reverb
I messaged him that to see if he sold it to somebody(different state seller). Never responded. Shocker!
Intonation. Coil tap sounded so musical. What a ripper.
Keeping doing this series and feature all sorts of brands. Glad Kahler got some love.
Might as well go 4 a Carvin no body hurts N' no body dies. Lol. Just KiddN' Dane, very kool guitar/paintjob bro. Cheers! Likd 45

That was a genius idea for the control cavity cover !
Thanks
Awesome job, Dane 🤘
Very nice job!
Thank you very much!

I like what you did with that Dane!
That's all Maple body . Many of the original Floyd's were mounted crooked
Nice work great guitar 🎸

Hi Robert.
I was at ZIMMS today and saw this guitar up close. It’s gorgeous!
You have a gift. I really dig your work. 👍
Keep ‘em coming.

Too late now, but yeah makes it look like a defective paint job. Lesson learned I guess.
It looks like an old DC-200.
