From what I've seen, Steve sounds like a lovely, genuine person. "Come up and see me (make me smile) is one of the most uplifting songs ever written. Steve was touring in 2023 and it sounds like he enjoyed himself up until near the end. Vale Steve Harley RIP mate. Australia loves you.
Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to dislike this song, which is now a classic. Brilliantly written and performed by Steve. Like many others, I wasn't aware of him suffering from polio, when he was young. A marvellous comeback captured by his musical compositions. An extraordinarily talented person at his craft. Take a bow, Mr Steve Harley. 👏 👍😁🤣🍺
God bless you Steve. The first album 'The Human Menagerie' was breathtaking. Saw you on countless times live & met you many times & you were always charming, funny & a great human being. His songwriting was up there with Dylan & Bowie, an intelligent wordsmith. Bye Steve. 'Oh dear, look what they done to the blues, blues, blues'........
Learned about Steve and Cockney from my dad. Been listening to Human Menagerie and Psychomodo since I was 10 years old and will never change. Thank you Steve and Cockney Rebel. Truly.
Ce monsieur a un bon coeur.J'écoute encore ses chansons et ce depuis les années 70.J'ai encore l'album"the human menagerie".Thank Steve pour tous ces moments de joie à t'écouter.
I was blessed to of seen and met him af the Kings Hall Portmeirion when he and other bands played a huge concert in aid of charity, he played into the late hours and at the end he led us all out into the grounds and finnished with a firework display... Thank you Mr Soft....🎶😍🎤🎵
Steve tengo todos tus vinilos y los sigos ecuchando y cada dia me gustan mas. 50 años escuchandolos prefab sproud kevin ayers steely dan and harley para mi son el sonidi musical de mi vida
I grew up with Cockney Rebel on my record player and cassettes. The songs are not your average pop lyrics, they are exquisite poems that have never lost the intense meanings. I never knew Steve Harley had such a challenge as a young boy with polio, maybe the anti vax brigade should realise what it was like to live in a time when polio was a killer!
I know how much Steve suffered with Polio, my cousin in Australia had Polio when she was little too, her brother used to carry her to school and she'd shout to him to run faster because their other 2 sisters were catching up. She too also walk with a limp, due to this awful disease. The Song "Come up and See Me" means so much to me, it would take for ever to explain that one. My husband is 2 years older than Steve but coincidendently he was born in the Carshalton Hospital!

He's not bad-looking now for an old bloke but God was he gorgeous in the 70s!
A man that knows how to push through pain and misery to create something we can all enjoy.

Taken back in time: total other culture and family environment, thanks for doing this step back in time.
One viewer said Steve had the worst wig in showbiz - maybe true but he wrote one of the best pop songs of all time !
Gorgeous solo. Good to see them still doing it. It makes me smile. Corny but true.
I lived about a 2 minute walk away from Troutbeck Rd, I knew Steve originated from New Cross but never knew how close he was from me until now.
