- Here are my top 5 Djent guitar riffs for 7 string guitars! In my opinion, these are 5 of the most iconic djent riffs that have ever been written using 7 string guitars. I'm sure that a lot of your favorites are not on here, so I would love to hear more suggestions for riffs that I missed, perhaps I'll do another djent riff compilation with your suggestions?

Let's face it, this could have easily been a list of Periphery riffs. The Walk, Letter Experiment, Icarus Lives, Ow My Feelings, Make Total Destroy, MK Ultra, and Rainbow Gravity all have amazing seven string riffs.

Djent Trope No.15:
1) Play breakdown riff clean or with a crunch tone w/ no bass
2) Short stop
3) DJONT.
My fav trope still
I would take this as an advice to get a great djent tone
And I wouldn't have it any other way
also make sure that the clean riff is exactly one octave higher than the DJONT version

Not sure yet! I am really liking the new album but have yet to pick my "favorites." At this point in time I feel that I still like Intuition the most haha, but maybe just because I am the most familiar with it.

Part of me wants to say The Bad Thing by Periphery, but that is technically a six string. Even the strings 1-5 are tuned a whole step down and then the 6th string is tuned to A.

I don't like like the term djent, but pretty surprised there was no Meshuggah at all. Chaosphere is riddled with amazing riffs that people base their ideas off of all the time. And that album is all seven string.

Icarus Lives not only is a great djent riff. By itself is a great metal riff.
I'm not too familiar with ATB or AAL (apart from CAFO and Wave of Babies), but the other three riffs would definitely make my top 5 too. Great video!

That's also probably their most melodic album
I'd recommend Rareform (remastered) personally. It's got probably their djentiest breakdowns.

Murry Deaves yes, djent can apply to any music regardless. It's a technique, not a genre.
rskat501 fair enough, just that I've spoken to tosin abasi and he didn't like the term djent, but may of just been as a genre :p
Murry Deaves Yeah, most musicians don't like the term djent, probably because they when people talk to then about djent they think that's what they're labeling them as, and some people do label bands strictly as djent, which isn't true, a band can't be "djenty" but not "djent" if you know what I mean
