The Abysmal Eye being in drop G# always throws me. I hear Meshuggah and my brain immediately thinks "F STANDARD," but there are more exceptions than I seem to remember, haha! Great list, lots of banger riffs on here!
I guess they either missed using 7 strings, or just dropped the 7th string on their 8s to a G#. Or dropped the 8th to D# and played higher on the neck. I think they actually did all of those through various live performances, with each guitarist opting for a different strategy each time, lol
@@LxE9799They switch to 7 strings in their live shows. You can see their 7 strings in the bloodstock live vid. I would've gone with Flourish or Exoplanet II: Void for The Contortionist. Also Kaonashis We Got One or I Hate The Sound Of Car Keys would've been great additions to this list.
Would have loved to hear that ending riff from "The Mouth of the River" by The Acacia Strain on here. One of my favorite endings to a song. Not sure if it's the same tuning but it is nuts

@@kenjicarlos8402 Invective MH has everything you need, including built in switchable boost and gate. If you're mic'd or playing at home, its the better option from a feature standpoint, imo

Most Car Bomb stuff seems to be in drop G#, although I think they do it on a baritone. Lights Out, Blackened Battery, and the Sentinel are all good contenders.

you know this is the heaviest riff... when it puts you sitting down without a strap and makes you order a good gaming chair for gigs... making the bass player looking the coolest once at least
Drop G# is awesome, top 3 favorite tunings, it's a shame it seems to be overshadowed by drop A and G. Cool list! One of my favorite songs in G# is The Unfaithful by Memphis May Fire

Also, your Polaris tone might be better the the album. Polaris is a super heavy, Uber modern bad, and I get little to no low end in the guitars. Language 1 and 2 is quite possibly my favorite metal song ever.
That album really is a masterpiece. There's nothing else that captures that atmosphere.
