Air Conditioning Condenser Fan Motor Blowing Air In The Wrong Direction

Sometimes the air direction on the air conditioner condenser is blowing in the wrong direction. Most of the time, this is a problem with the condenser fan spinning in the wrong direction. In this video we show how to reverse the direction of the condenser fan motor and get the air flowing in the right direction. The condenser unit electrical wiring specific to the Start/Run capacitor is explained.

Thank you for this. Thank you even more for explaining where the wires of different colors should be coming from. My unit's purple wire comes from the fan, not the compressor, so likely, someone made an error, or standards changed over the years. I was quoted over $500 for a new fan and capacitor, so I shall be trying this out.

I bought my house 2 years ago and the ac wouldn't cool the house enough. I thought it was because of the high temperatures here in CA. After some digging I found 2 problems. First, the capacitor was the wrong size (50+7.5, when it needs a 50+10). The second issue was the wiring. The fan was blowing in reverse. After seeing your video and looking at the diagram, I was able to fix my issue.
