Hey Nick. I'm from Hattiesburg. I remember when you used to do the weather on WDAM. Just discovered your UA-cam. I love Scamps. Thanks for the tour video. Hope to see more videos from you!
Hi Jerald. Thanks for the kind words! We loved our Scamp. But we did end up switching to a different camper during the pandemic. We wanted something with a separate shower/toilet.
You bet, I actually made this several months ago for potential buyers. I’ve had the video unlisted for months. Then I realized there may be people out there that would appreciate a tour.
This is the best video I have seen anyone do on a Scamp. Your rig is uncluttered so we can see everything. Great job! Did you buy another rig? What did you buy?
So is this version called the “Bunk House” ? 🤔 Other 5th Wheel Scamps have a bathroom where the bench bunk is. Just wanted to know because I’m looking for the one with the bathroom and I was wondering so I can specify my searches 😌. Thank you for your efforts! God Bless you and your Family! ❤️😏🇺🇸🖖🏼
Hi Eric, Sorry, but I am not sure if it’s referred to as the “bunk house.” I can’t say I’ve heard anyone call it that before? Wish I could be of more help.
I wanted to look at this camper, but as soon as I saw that it has only one axle, I was done. Sorry, but I would never buy a camper with only one axle. Right now I have an 18 foot camper, but it has 2 axles. Had a blow out a while back and was glad that the camper had a second wheel to hold it up…..
It would be pretty spartan, mainly because of the toilet-shower combo. If I were living in a camper semi-permanently, I would prefer to have separate shower and toilet.
This is a stupid question but I need to know. Is that a standard fifth wheel hitch or something different it looks smaller. What does it take to pull this will a half ton pick up work or do you need something bigger?
Hi Diane, That's not a stupid question. I did not install the original hitch, because I purchased the Scamp and my Tundra in a package deal. But I think it was a standard fifth wheel hitch modified with a regular 2-inch ball. You may need to explore some Scamp forums to learn all the hitch options. I know people do pull this camper with Toyota Tacomas and similar-sized trucks. Lightweight is a benefit of fiberglass.
I thought I would add to Nick's response - we have the Scamp 19' Deluxe (wood interior) We used to pull it with a 6 cylinder Ford Ranger. We pulled it in the mountains in CO with no problems. We then switched to a Ford F-150. It actually pulled better with the Ranger. We ended up changing out the tires and axle to raise it up for the F-150 so it pulled more level. Anyway they pull great with the small pickups, if you have a bigger truck get the different axle and tires.
What year and what is the length on this? Nice! Did, and I hope you got the cat out of the bathroom, saw kitty go into the shower, then heard the door shut. Just checking, I'm a cat mum. Hee
*I wonder how many times I could 'bash my head' on that hitch* *I also wonder why anyone really wants a 'giant egg with fur' inside'* *This 'Camper' would do well in Montana/Oregon/Washington and other 'Forest-y' States, anywhere else it would instantly become a 'Kenner Easy-Bake Oven' the moment the Sun's up in summer*
We have had our "furry egg" Scamp 5th wheel for 11 seasons. We have camped in 45F weather to 103F weather. Any camper is going to be an Easy Bake Oven in hot temperatures. Scamps are actually quite well insulated. That being said I would never get any type of camper w/o air conditioning. The nice thing about "egg" campers is they warm up fast and cool off fast. My roasting and freezing tent days are over. I like comfort now. The best thing about fiberglass egg campers is they hold their value, are easy to repair if damaged, and are light and easy to tow.

Hi Laura, it sold, last year, but thank you for the selling/cleaning advice. The camper was 17 years old. The fridge would probably need to be replaced if those stains were a concern. Not sure what the new owners did?
If there are any engineers watching this, I have a question : Could you set up the hitch system so a 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz SEL Premium w/2.5turbo all wheel drive could pull this unit ? Thank you for keeping the video up, have been interested in a 5TH wheel scamp. Nice thorough walkthrough.
Great tour and explanation of the Scamp.
Love to have one.
Thanks for watching!
Am I the only one who expected to see a cat when he opened the oven?!? 😆
I did too! 🐈 at 12:50

Yes, I wondered that myself. 😂

We have the deluxe model - I would highly recommend it.

Hi, This was a 2003.
Did you as the hitch receiver for yours if you know the measurements from the center of the ball to the back of the bumper
I thought you had your cat in oven.....ewwwe. Glad you clarified that. Lol
Scamps are made in my home town.
Like it as larger than the 13’ one which is cramped.
nice tour..how easy is it to hook up to a truck bed mount? good luck with sale.
Thank you. I could hook it on my own, but it helps to have someone lower and raise the tailgate as you line up the ball with the hitch
Maybe next time you could show mre of the camper like maybe not get so close. Love your ho.e
Awesome Job
Thanks Jay
What model year is this? Great tour. I read in the comments you are a TV weatherman. That explains the professional-sounding walk-through! 👍
Thank you Jody. It was a 2003 19ft Scamp. I'm not sure on the exact model.
