We had a 25’ twin Airstream when we were in our 20’s and We loved it. I would come over to my wife’s side and visit for a while. After a productive visit i would return to my side 😂

It looks like for intimate moments, you can make a larger 'playground' area in the front. The space to move about, dress, etc, w/the twin layout is a winner, hands down

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Three years ago, we based the purchase of our travel trailer SOLELY on the question, “Does it have twin beds?” I’m 66 with two artificial knees and my wife is 63 with two artificial hips. No way we could climb over one another if one needed to use the bathroom at 3:00 in the morning! I love being able to toss and turn without worrying whether it will awaken my spouse.

Great video. We have a 44 year old Airstream that originally had a crosswise walkaround rear double bed. We reconfigured it into 2 twin beds and love it. I bought mattresses to suit each of us. I like medium to medium firm and she likes firm. My mattress is super comfortable for me and her mattress is too stiff and makes my hips hurt. We have always kept different hours. She gets up early and goes to bed early and likes to sit in bed and watch TV or read while I'm a night person and am either outside or sitting in the dinette in the front working on a computer or watching TV. Neither wakes the other up to go to the bathroom and we can keep different hours and not disturb each other. Twins work great for us.

We love our 2019 Flying Cloud 25' RBT AS!!! Tip....The bathroom door can be flipped so it opens to the rear of the trailer instead of towards the front living area. Who wants to look at the commode from the dining table?! Took me maybe 30 minutes to flip the door. Just makes sense to open towards the rear. The extra wood along the edge of the mattresses is a great addition. I did the same mod to ours.

I'm 6'4" & finding a caravan (camper) with a long enough bed was so hard. Before I retired I worked next to a Jayco main dealer. I went through every caravan on site & not 1 bed fitted me. The Airstream layout with mid washroom & rear single beds is spot on. We get very few Airstreams in Australia & they are very expensive. I enjoy watching the North American videos you do things very differently which is interesting. We eventually bought a European Adria Action which is a small light caravan & the lounge converts easily into single beds 6'5" long. We fitted some memory foam to the seats. At night we use a swag & put the back cushions into the tow vehicle or annex & we leave the table in place. Our dog sleeps under the table. The beds are 2'4" wide a little narrow but OK & takes 2 minutes to change from day to night use.The caravan only has a 13' body but has A/C, cassette toilet, shower, fridge, separate washbasins for people & dishes gas hob external bbq gas point, everything we need. It's small light & tows with a small SUV. very practical for 2 people & a small dog. If we lived in the USA or Canada, which we've visited many times I'd buy an Airstream with pretty much your layout.Thank you for your videos.

Twin beds work well even for close couples because it reduces getting kneed or elbowed while sleeping. It does not prevent you from having nocturnal activities and you get better sleep.

I see that based upon followers, you may be new to UA-cam, and if so, this was a brilliant idea in which to capture attention as I’ve often wondered about the conundrum between a queen bed v. Twins for a couple, and until this, I have never seen a solid discussion-which this turned out to be, particularly at the end, which of course was and remains the main point for me and I imagine many others. Excellent video and good luck with more like this…

We had a new truck camper built this summer. I specified twin beds in the cabover. One - no more stolen covers! Two - my spouse and I have different sleep habits so it works out well not waking the other person up if you have to get up during the night or early morning. Three - Its easier to do a girls or guys campout and not have to share a big queen bed! It works for us. Glad it works for you also!

My late husband and I lived in a hotel for some time when our daughter was a year old. We really loved it. We always cuddled as a family and even though we had "our own bed" we would switch it up depending on the night. And sex was not an issue. Typically, we would wait for our daughter to go to sleep and one of us would hop to the other bed to cuddle or just chill. We eve had our own rooms in our apartment in Vegas even though we typically still slept in the same bed anyway. Maybe it's not for all couples. We always had to be touching while in bed together even if it was just foot to foot lol

I agree completely. We have a 27' FB Twin Globetrotter. In addition to the additional outside storage, we get additional storage inside that the queen configuration doesn't have. We sleep in a king bed at home and our distance apart in it is about the same as when we're sleeping in the Airstream. Plus, I think the trailer feels more "open" with the twin configuration.

Our 1st Airstream was a used twin bed model. Our 2nd Airstream was a used twin. Our current Airstream is a new 28 twin. We use the extra floor space for a small dog crate and have a 2nd crate on the nightstand. The extra exterior storage is nice too. Works for us!

We live and travel in our 2018 27 FBQ full time and chose the queen bed over the twin version for the following reasons. 1. Sleeping next to the aluminum side in the winter is uncomfortable. 2. Using the internal and external storage in a front bed twin increases the tongue weight which is a hit on the tow vehicle payload capacity and forces you into a 3/4 ton vehicle to stay safe and within limits. Extra stuff travels better in a tote inside the Airstream over the axles. 3, Regular sheets and bed making. No suspenders required to keep sheets in place.

We have twin beds in our Airstream - 2018 30' Flying Cloud and are so glad that we chose them as opposed to the queen. My husband is 6'2 and his feet would hang over the queen, whereas, the twin beds are longer for taller people. We also love the extra storage - bedside table, two bins under each bed for personal storage as well as 2 cabinets. We also understand that resale is better with twins, although we never plan to sell our Airstream! :)

We are both tall: 6’6” and 5’8”. The center aisle allows a lot of head space not possible in either the side or center queen configuration. Plus, the twin beds are 4 inches longer than the queen, so I have enough space at the foot to place a temporary items for . 2019 Flying Cloud 28RTB Blue💙Dream

We moved from our FC23FB to a FC28RB for increased space and we were unwilling to give up the queen bed. Most of the new units available were twin beds. Not for us. Airstreams are not well insulated. A warm spouse beats an extra drawer any day.

For seniors is gotta be twin beds, like 30 x 75 are ideal bc they are comfortable and not too narrow and I can make the bed change the sheets so easy. More floor space and easier to organize storage under twins than queen. Love having a decent size night stand with a drawer.... just easier!!!

  • @abqdor
    @abqdor 2 роки тому +6

You highlighted all of the same reasons that we went for the twin configuration over the queen in our 25' Flying Cloud. I did notice that yours is a RB as opposed to a FB. We liked the front bedroom version because most of the campsites we find are back in, and therefore have a view from the living area. We just didn't want to be looking out of those great open windows looking at the tow vehicle. I must say that the only downside to a FB twin is the outside access area being at the front of the trailer. There is very little space between the propane tanks and the storage area, so putting things in and taking them out is a bit of a challenge. Nice review though.

Our next camper may very well have twin beds. It took me a few years to think about the transition from sleeping together to sleeping in twins, but when traveling in such as small space, twin beds over a lot of function. We currently camp in a small Casita 17 Freedom Deluxe that has a full bed across the back that requires the “crawl over” for bathroom trips at night. Currently, not a problem, but we are almost 60, so the crawl over may be old after awhile. Great video! Thank you.

We had twins in an A-frame popup. It was so easy to get up in the night to use the toilet! Also made more seating space when we had other people in the trailer. Also easier to make up the beds - we end up lifting the mattress to tuck in the sheets & quilt, being smaller and lightweight, made it easier.

We like the twin bed setup, didn't know you could have it in the rear which we prefer. Enjoy having dinette on campsite or in your case up front. We are flirting with the idea of a 25 Globetrotter Twin bed which that size is comparable to our Grand Design XLS 22mle. We would be into it for about $120k where as we own outright our 2022 Grand Design a $70k difference lol.. Beautiful trailer appreciate the the overview.

Are twin beds better? Maybe. First, it gives you much more aisle space. It makes accessing the overhead lockers easy. It also gives you four outside storage compartments instead of two with a queen. But in cold weather the metal sides are cold and so rolling over brings you to the chilly metal.
I have a queen and would seriously consider twins next time.

My husband and I have separate bedrooms as I can't sleep with all that snoring,
so I would constantly have to wake him up to turn over. So after 5 years of marriage
we went our separate ways and I went across the hallway and I've never looked back!
I can get a quiet good nights sleep now. I know a lot of couples who have separate
bedrooms. I think that for more storage and more floor space this is the way to go.

There are so few choices of decent floor plans with twin beds, as we grow older our traveling companions may friends or siblings, not just spouses, and as you've said many spouses, prefer visiting rather than cramming into a queen when they are used to a king at home. To gain the extra foot needed in a smaller length length trailer, put two comfortable chairs at the a smaller table. I saw where they added a bunk in the new FB25, that already, imagine luxury twin bunks in a smaller unit. Yes, a dinette becomes another bed, but if the person sleeping in the queen gets up early, where do they sit to drink coffee and read the news? I truly think there is a market for an 18-20ft... built comfortably for two, with twins, separate shower, functional kitchen, bright and cheerful... easy to tow without a massive truck or v8, all season (given climate change everywhere is now all-seasons). I am still amazed at the darkness and stuck-in-time interior styling of most campers.

We love the more open layout and additional storage, but were mystified by the under (or non) utilization of the area under the center 'nightstand' drawer. Why would people like sleeping next to your wife? (joke) I would buy the twin, too. After all, if you wanted to do the Hokey Pokey, just cross the aisle (for a minute or two ;) ) and then go back to bed. Plus, with twins, you can have a small party and the peeps will have more places to sit and converse. You could also add one of those table floor connectors and have a family size table using the beds as seats. Board game time!

Not on a bet would I give up sleeping with my wife!
Seriously, to give that up for storage? Are you kidding me?
We’re in our mid 60’s and wouldn’t think of it. You guys are way to young to do it now. Besides I get the sense just one of you is sold on this and the other just went along. The audience can decide which one of you and if I’m right.

Give me twin beds anytime in a camper or single bed......
Why do people need giant beds in their camper as it takes up almost half the camper.....
Is sleeping the main activity of traveling now ???

We were about to not buy an Airstream because of the tight walk around on the Queen and low outside storage. Then the salesman showed us the twin option. Guess what we bought?

My parents had twin beds…. I grew up with that as the norm… I always though it was weird when married people slept together lol…. (We had a big house too)

The biggest reason I went with the twins was that I was not just going to be camping with my spouse. When I go with my brothers or other friends works great. Plus, I am 6-4. The queen is much shorter than the 80inch long twins.

Absolutely, great point Greg. Wish I had mentioned that in the video.

This is the exact Airstream that I'd want....the 25 ft. twin. That extra walking space makes the thing look so much bigger. What is the year model of that one?

Where did you get the bedding for your twin beds? They have to be custom ordered for the airstream right?

I absolutely love when you said you threw your hat at the end of the bed so that if a bear came in the middle of the night you'd have something to put on. I got to ask if the Hat helps with the bear. And why in the world if there was a bear outside why you would want to go out and meet it

Well, I wouldn’t want a bear to see my bed head😂
