      It's the 1080 of AMD. It beats even a 1070 in some cases when dealing with crossfire lol.
      R9 390x's were even better.

      Sadly it wasn't widely publicized, otherwise we wouldn't of had people doing 980/980Ti SLI setups for far more money..Pretty sad honestly.

      Funny because originally I was running an FX 8350 with two 290x's in crossfire. When I got the 295x2 I had planned on replacing both with it but read an article about the Tri-fire set up and thought why not. I had a 1200w PS but was having issues whenever crossfire was enabled. It ended up being under powered. I got myself a 1600w Evga supernova and the problem went away. I still use that 1600w in my current build even though it's overkill. I got my 295x2 for $750 in 2015 new and sold it last year for $900 at the hight of the mining craze. Upgraded to a 1080ti and am quite happy

      Wtf, no it isn't. Even the 980ti goes neck to neck with it. The 1070 is 20% faster, and it doesn't touch a 1080 which is like 40% faster.

      Did you not see the performance tests in this vid? Between Timmy's results, the results The Horror posted, and other benchmarks I've seen, it's very close to a 1080, especially at higher resolutions. A 1070 is not 20% faster on average. If you can post multiple benchmarks that directly oppose what we've seen, great, otherwise you're talking out of your ass.

    Still loving my 295x2 even 4 years later. As I run 6 screen Eyefinity for work and things like Elite Dangerous Nvidia isn't an option. You just have to tweak in game settings on your titles to stay below the 4gb Vram limit. Yes it pumps out heat but during the winter I seriously don't need to turn the heating on while gaming. Only takes 85w running 6 desktop screens when not gaming (monitors excluded). Will upgrade if Navi turns out to be worth it. Timmy Joe NZXT Cam or the built in Radeon Adrenalin overlay should allow you to check framerates without issue.

      The Horror Well yes, But if you have a micro ATX board with only 1 x16 lane then a dual GPU card will be ideal if you want to venture in SLI/Crossfire, Micro ATX is picking up in popularity, Some say SLI/Crossfire is also dying, so you got that argument but its subjective though. I just find dual GPU cards interesting myself for situations where fitting in 2 physical cards is not possible.

I have a i5 4690 stock and I can't go up 3.9 gh/z some games need 4.5 gh/z. also I have a hercule 1600 watts as PSU and 24 gig of ram at 1333 mh/z that's correct enough. Should I keep the 2 cards when I will upgrading to a ddr4 mobo, cpu and ddr4 memory. or should I bough a i7 47XX K version to improve gaming experience ?

    That i5 will stutter even if it gets faster average FPS in some games. I have an old 4570 and my current 1500X is not always much faster but damn does it do so much better overall.

    • @TheSilviu8x
      @TheSilviu8x 5 років тому

      Even the first i7 will be smoother. 4 threads are obsolete at the top, but ideal for budget builds.

    • @TiagoMorbusSa
      @TiagoMorbusSa 5 років тому +3

      Came from the a 4670k to a 2700X and absolutely, games get a lot smoother, and in my case a lot faster too.

    • @AlexanderVRadev
      @AlexanderVRadev 5 років тому

      I am running the same i5 3570k and it doesn't stutter. First off there is a huge difference between a locked CPU like the 4570 running at something over 3GHz and an unlocked and overclocked to the max CPU like the 3570k running at 4.9Ghz for example. Second stutter is not caused by having old CPU, it is caused by the hardware being hammered by far more that it can handle like for example having your CPU running too slow so the game overloads the main thread while at the same time having your GPU being pushed to the max due to far higher settings than it can handle. It can be a simple case of running out of Vram on your GPU and so on.

    • @CharcharoExplorer
      @CharcharoExplorer 5 років тому +2

      Yes I know why stutter happens. No it is not VRAM nor RAM issues as upgrading to the 1500X fixed all of those problems and I had 16 GB DDR3 and now have 16 GB DDR4.
      Modern games need more threads. That is all there is to it. If I were to play older or less demanding new games, the 1500X wont score a lot over the 4570 (slightly higher IPC and clocks on Zen is all there is to it) but in a multitasking scenario or in modern games, there is a real difference.

    I love this AMD series! I have one of this R9 295x2 and a HD 7990 (prev. dual GPU). I am running them in unRaid server and they sharing on a 3rd gen i7. I can confirm the performance, even they are running in a a seperate VM/2threads! They are very durable, last year 24/7 i was mining without any issue. Unfortunately it has a monster TDP around 580-600watt only the card itself. My rig under a full load was eating 1.3kW with this 2 GPU.

    In the old catalyst control panel there was a way to manually set the crossfire mode to AFR which is what I did with my old 7950 crossfire setup, please consider doing that as it solved many of my issues back then.
    These days I'm running a 1070 on a laptop as I'm done with massive unwieldy gaming setups, but back then it made sense for me.

    A crappy displayport cable or mini-dp adapter can cause weird ass shit to happen. Not sure what you're using but try getting a good quality cable or active adapter and see if that stops some of the frustrating bugs. Just a thought...

    Nice card. Just bought one off ebay the guy said caught on fire while gaming. pcie 8 pin is crispy and has some chunks in it from the power plug. got it for $86 usd and about $40 shipping and 2 weeks from Canada to the US. Cleaned it and fixed it.....it posts and sees both gpus, it will be put through its paces soon enough.

    Use to have a 290x, memories! As far as cooling goes you should get an EK Phoenix kit which has a pump built into the rad and attach it to the current block making it an “ail”

    Hi man. Great video. About Doom not using the second GPU, I noticed you are using Vulcan. Vulcan doesn't run SLI or Crossfire at all as far as I know. I had the same issue with my MARS 760x2. As soon as you change to OpenGL however, it works with SLI no problem. I think Crossfire should work fine as well in OpenGL and the scaling I got was mighty fine, keeping the GPUs at over 90% at all times with no stutter or visual glitches. I am currently thinking of getting the same model - R9 295x2 card to be honest. After all this is the best dual GPU solution in existence (that you can get at the very least).

    i have one setup in my friends rig, run slightly lower voltages, and use old drivers, like, his is stable with the radeon drivers from late 2016. newer drivers caused desyncing with the cores and random crashes and artifacting

    If i wanted to send you something do you have a PO box anywhere? I have an old 4790k that im not sure works, i had a system fail on me and instead of testing to see what failed i just went an upgraded to a 7700k so i obviously needed new ram and motherboard so it was a either the old motherboard or it could have been the cpu so. Love the videos I almost always watch you videos as soon as they come out keep it up!
