  • This 2006 Ford Firsta 1.4 tdci failed to start. Engine turned over but it wouldn’t fire. Code reader pointed me to the crank sensor. Also when looking at the live data the engine speed stayed at zero even when turning the engine over. Fairly easy fix in the end. Also don’t forget to clean the back of the pully wheel.

    Hi. I have the Bantam bakkie with the same engine. It won't start either, but does start with CRC and dies after it runs out. The code reader can't pick up any codes and diesel is going thru as I loosened the injector pipe and it does get fuel. Where is the diesel pickup censor? Is it the small one connected on the plastic pipes?

    This was exactly what I was looking for after searching 100s of UA-cam videos and googling. My 2014 Ford Figo 1.4 Diesel TDCI Titanium has starting problems and one of the so called self motor expert told me that the Bendix was bad. The guy repaired it and installed the self motor. But after this also the engine won't start. The flywheel was not fully engaged and it could not rotate. May be i will try the same in my car as well. One question, you unplugged the power socket near the flywheel and still it started. What does that power plug used for?? Thanks for the nice Video.

      I plugged it back before I started it.
      The plug near the flywheel is for the crank sensor

    My car has crank non start same issue but no fault codes have you any ideas - I’ve changed fuel filter pain to bleed , cleaned fuel tank Thanks mate for the video what power gun do you use to take off crank pulley I need to buy one - I always lock flywheel to get pulley bolt off but is a faff . Cheers

      It doesn’t throw up a fault code. It just doesn’t give the correct reading. You need to look at the live data on a code reader. When turning over the engine you should see a pulse. If it’s a flat line it’s not picking up anything.

    Hi. So what was the initial problem, did it try to turn over or just nothing at all? My 1.6TDCi won’t try to turn over but all lights on dash, radio, lights etc work

      Mine was turning over but not starting. Check all your fuses first. Make sure it’s not the immobiliser. Check there’s enough power in battery first.

    i have a power loss problem, with an indicator light (exclamation mark). I changed the diesel filter, air filter, spark plugs and I also changed a brown relay located in a black box behind the battery, but the problem is still present.
    I have been looking for the location of the preheating relay for two days without success. do you have an idea ?
    thank you in advance

    • @pdunleavy1982
      @pdunleavy1982  3 роки тому

      Is it a total loss of power?
      It could be a faulty crank sensor. Or a faulty injector. I don’t think it will be the pre hear relay

      @@achrafjdidi8866 glow plugs mate, four glow plugs in the rear of the engine, take off the air box and use an inspection mirror.
      There’s only a few things that cause the car to go into limp mode: faulty injectors (connectors/wire harness), glow plugs (connectors/wire harness) and gearbox/sensor (connectors/wire harness). These three things are all connected via the same wiring loom.

    Hi! It's been a while since this vid was posted but still going to ask anyway. I got the same engine 1.4 tdci, 2004 model. Engine works, rpm picks up nicely when stationary but when it idles for a couple minutes (very low chance of it happening) or when I put it in gear and try to move engine dies, getting a P0337 code when I check via obd. How can I make sure it is the sensor causing this issue? I'm in a very small town with not very good mechanics around so I have to diagnose and fix this myself sadly. Any help would be appreciated

    • @pdunleavy1982
      @pdunleavy1982  25 днів тому

      Not sure how to confirm. Maybe see if you can see the live data from the crank sensor. Check the wiring as well.

      @@pdunleavy1982 can't check the live data because of the cheap obd reader, only shows me the crank speed but I managed to get a somewhat of an interesting reaction from it. Idle rpm dropped to around 500 and than back to 750 just before engine died with dashboard showing normal idle and when starting the engine rpm jumps to 1000-1100 even though the sound of the engine and dashboard indicates normal idle rpm? From what I can see the wiring looks fine for its age, no damage or anything. Ordered the sensor and going to replace it tomorrow, will post the results. I hope I can replace it without getting the pulley off, don't have tools for that 😬
