If your injectors "stop working" (1 or more, 1.4tdci) and everyone is baffled - check the 4 pins on the ECU that control the injectors - far rhs of the ecu as you look at the connections, they're numbered 1 to 4 beside the output pins. Check them with a multi-meter, there should be no continuity between the paired pins. You may well find there is continuity, which means the ecu is shorted internally. Reading the codes will only show "injector wiring injector X short circuit" - which may lead to a wild goose chase checking wires etc etc. It's the ecu... open it up & you will see white crusties. They're the problem. Easiest done by first removing the headlight/battery tray so you have good access. Send the ECU off to "We Fix ECU's" or similar.
That's correct. The regulated 5v for the egr was intermittently cutting out, causing a non start condition. The 5v is shared with other critical circuits
