Ford Fiesta Mk6 - MAF Sensor Cleaning
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 лис 2016
- Massive Air Flow (MAF) Sensor and oxygen sensor data is used for controlling the engine's air/fuel ratio by the ECU (electronic brain) of your car. As MAF sensor gets dirty from smoke, dust etc. particles in the air, It is a good practice to have it cleaned during periodic maintenance of the car to improve the fuel economy. It is recommended to use "MAF Sensor Cleaning Spray" that does'nt leave any residue for this job.
Not only the video, but also the comments on this video are very valuable! Thank you so much...
You're welcome 😉
Good video, i'm gonna use it for cleaning my MAF too :)
Thanks! I am happy to hear that video is helpfull to somebody :-)
*It is a short but interesting video to clearly see the process to clean the system congratulations. Angel.*
Thank you for your feedback, wish you all the best!
Simples, falando pouco e com resultado. Parabéns.
Obrigado!..
helpful video , thanks
You're wellcome
thank you so much. cleanse the Maf
You're welcome :-)
handyguy62 I changed the printhead unnecessarily.
Thanks for the help

Hi Handyguy, Where do you get your long reach torx to fit the screwdriver any particular make or
Hi Mr Black, to be sure they won't fail me on during the DIY jobs I'm doing, I'm quite picky about the tools I'm using but I'm not a fanatic of a certain brand. In the video I used "Toolux" brand chrome vanadium 26 piece rachet screwdriver set. I bought it from hardware section of "real" hypermarket several years ago. Cheers...
Hi can this make your car go in to limp mode if faulty I've replaced fuel filter and my car is still coming
Up with orange light on dash board.
Did you resolve your issue ?? To answer your question; for sure it can make the car go into limp mode. My Ford Figo went in limp mode with "Orange light"; not engine light; coming up on the dashboard. It was a dirty MAF sensor. Cleaned it with MAF cleaner and problem was sorted. Hope this helps you.
Hi I replaced it with a new one and it was still in limp mode the number 3 injector was at fault had to sell the car because of massive repair bill I will never buy a Ford car again thanks.
good job
Thank you..
nice
Ustam benim arac gaz yemiyo ayni sensor 2 tane kopru gibi olan telin birisi kirik bende senin aractadami ayni
Does this have any symptoms? Just that recently my car has become a bit lumpy juddering when driving steady but seems to be ok on idle
I can say there is no immediate red flag, but symptoms such as increase in fuel consumption, rough idle can make suspicious about the MAF sensor.
@@handyguy6273 can dirty maf sensors cause slight hesitation in acceleration ?
Brilliant videos just wish you would talk throught them
Thanks a lot for the comment. I'm so much concentrated on the job I'm doing so I never thought of talking, but I'll consider that in the future videos, thanks again.
Thanks for the video. Are you going to publish videos of the cooling fluid change?
You're wellcome. Yes I'm planning cooling fluid change probably before next winter and post that video on UA-cam also.
What is that square box which has the "Duratorq ford tdci" and is located on the pipe between the turbo and intake manifold?
Good question. When I have time I'll check it for you.
handyguy62 thanks!! :)

Did you remove negative side of the battery connection before starting work?
Yes, because while removing negative side if wrench touches to the body of the car it does not cause any short circuit.
Any ideas
hi, have you ever refill ac gas in this car if yes please share a vid on this. R134 is the gas used? where is high pressure and low pressure points? do you have a copy of work shop manual? I know lot many questions sorry for the trouble bro, best wishes.
Hi, I have general information about AC system but I have never done refill job myself. It requires special tools and equipment and expertise .To answer to your questions partly, I believe R-134a gas is used in the AC of Fiesta, the type of refrigerant gas should be indicated on a sticker at the engine compartment for each car, the refrigerant gas is considered hazardous and it should be disposed of properly. Best wishes to you too.
How frequently should it be done??? Is process same for petrol variant also?
It may depend on the environment, if the car is used dusty roads you may need to do more often.
I am planning to perform this on my car soon. Thanks a ton for this detailed video clip!
Wish I could see the exact point where you put pressure to release the clamp from the MAF sensor housing. Could you please tell me what is the clamp type? Is that for single use?
Hi, it is very likely that the the original clamp was intended for one time use only, since there were no screw tightening mechanism probably it was cheaper and therefore preferred by the manufacturer. I pushed with the tip of screwdriver to release the clamp on the small bump where metal arms overlap, since there is tension on the clamp it released instantly. It was possible for me to reuse it but if wasn't I wouldn't hesitate to change it with screw tightening clamp. Cheers...
Thanks, I was able to get the MAF sensor cleaned and re-use the original clamp. It was not dirty as I expected, so not much of a difference in mileage. The only difference I could notice was lower idling rpm, post the cleaning.
If the sensor was dirtier you would feel the difference better. Lower RPM at aidle also counts in low fuel consumption..:-)
Hi what is the problem that you saw?Eac Fail is the Signal?
Hi, there was no indicator signal but the smell and color of smoke during idle seemed little bit rich in fuel
Anyone who cn advise, i also hv 208 fiesta, when i accelerate to about 80/90 km/h, and when i touch breake pedal the car would just switch off everytime i do this. No engine sign flashing and the mechanics told me it wil be difficult to see wats wrong without any engine fault showing up.
I would try OBD testing to see if there is any fault codes in the ECU to fi. I wouldgure out what is the problem also check the brake pedal switch, as far as I know it is sending signal to ECU to slow down when brake pedal pressed, this sould also show up as fault code if OBD test is made.
Ford fiesta showing -------- on screen of meter reading and speed meetor also not work when this happened
Do you have video to remove ABS module?
Sorry, I don't have.
Hi! Could the MAF sensor being dirty or faulty cause the Powertrain orange cog light to come on and restrict revs to 3k? 1.4 TDCI engine mark 6? Thanks.
Hi, I don't want to mislead you based on limited information. In such conditions I would use OBD tester to see the error codes and figure out the problem. Hope this helps!...
@@handyguy6273 cheers. OBD scanner only tests for faults. This isn't showing as a DTC but as the orange cog symbol meaning Powertrain issue.
Yes It could be the problem for EAC fail
Could be fuel injector maybe? I’ve had issue with mine recently. 2k revs max and light flashing on dash.
Hola como se llama es líquido que echas para limpiar el sensor y donde comprarlo
Hola, the name of the spray is 'MAF Sensor Cleaning Sprey" I bought it from internet marketing, also it is sold at auto parts shops.
for some time I have some sobs in acceleration phase: some of you have any idea?
Hi, it can be number of things (faulty or dirty sensor, gas pedal potentiometer, air in fuel line, dirthe filters....) I would run self I have a video about it) test or connect OBD-II terster and try to figure out if there are any error codes.
@@handyguy6273 hi my car comes up with boost sensor high circuit I've done injectors and new turbo still no joy
WD-40 works?
Do that, and you can kiss your MAF and a lot of money good bye.
Got this car and boot relese button not working or boot button on fob
I've posted videos on topic "liftgate opening problems", I hope they help you to understand and solve the problem.
@@handyguy6273 yeah thanks what if power not working when button not pressed
Is that the same engine as in the MK7 fiesta, looks the same.
1.4 liter diesel engine
This could cause Limp Mode , maybe? I've got a Ford Fiesta MK6 TDCI with Limp Mode since last summer; 3000rpm max and not going over 120km/h even full flat foot. It's kinda dangerous to overtake and things like that, but I just can't figure how to fix it. Anybody here knows? Thanks in advance
Hi, in such cases I would use an OBD test gadget together with an app on smart phone to diagnose the problem, I hope it helps!..
@@handyguy6273 it says two error codes, p0100 and p0102 which Google says it may be the maf problem, but not sure if talks about the loss of power or the engine failure light
Is it available in Fiesta petrol car ,
Yes, I think so!..
Oh, also, you should pour some 2T (2strokes scooter oil) into your diesel tank. That engine sounds nasty and very loud.
Ok, I'll try that. :-)
Be sure to buy something which has JASO FD spec. Something very good and cheap (that I use, too) is Wolf 2T Synth.
OK, Thanks :-)
If it is not working, can just a cleaning like this fix it and get it back to work?
This way you clean the dust and dirt on the sensor it doesn't repair it.
What about fiesta 1.3 bensine 2006
The procedure should be the same.
Thanks for replay but i have mk5 hatchbak 1.3 dueatec motor and i can not find MAP sensor Do tou know location
@@shpendalimusaj4885 It is supposed to be installed on a large air hose connected to the air filter box.

👍🏻
So what were the results?
Making fuel economy, achieve optimum air to fuel ratio, increase efficency are the theories behind cleaning the MAF sensors and it is presented by car manufacturers and services. Which I believe too. Yet, I don't have enough test equipment and facilities to give you exact numbers at this time but I'll keep on searching and post it if Ifind any test results and numbers.
Hi,
I think I have to clean mine too, I got real poor mileage.
When I got the car it had 160kkm and it would eat 5-6% tops! Now, after 40kkm it stays at 6-6.5%.
1.4 TDCI. Did you manage to observe any improvements after the cleaning?
Hi, unfortunately my Fiesta does not have fuel per 100km counter. So I don't have numeric values to compare before and after cleaning. But I can say the engine is better running and has better acceleration, no heavy smoke, fuel smell from exaust even with cold engine which is a sign of good air to fuel ratio.
Mine doesn't have fuel counter either, I just do the math every time I refuel and I write them down in my "fuel stats" app on my phone
I will defently try to clean it. Oh, also there is a plastic hose which exists the engine block, goes below the thermostat and enters the radiator. That whose has the tedency to rub out 2 cable links that go to the gearbox. The result is that the hose will gain a leaking hole. I am currently struggling to put a fix on it...
www.pieseauto.ro/furtune-apa/ford/fusion/conducte-racire-ford-fiesta-1-4-tdci-piesa-noua-2026020489.html#&gid=1&pid=1 this is the one.
IS THIS SUCH CLEANING SOMETHING?
The sprayed chemical cleans the dust and dirt on the electronic circuit elements which are clearly displayed in the video.
how much does it improve mpg by roughly?
Unfortunately on board computer does not make MPG calculations. According to my calculations after filling the tank and resetting the odometer and comparing the readings before next filling up, it is up to 5 %.
