I’m betting these Magikarp variants would also have their own variants of Gyarados or something more unique to each form if the Pokémon Company would give their artists the time to design and create them. A Pokémon fan can dream, can’t he?
Considering Scarlet and Violet's whole thing is crystals I thought for sure Crystal Onix would be a regional variant or at least be referenced in some way.
Kecleon don't really _come_ in multiple colors so much as they can _turn_ any color, being chameleon-based and all. In fact, the lore is that they can change color on any part of their body except that zig-zagged band around the abdomen, which is why that part's the part that's a different color on the shiny.
Primal Dialga doesn't really have anything to do with Groundon and Kyogre. The name "Primal" itself was just a localization change. It's called "Yami no Dialga" in japanese, which roughly translates to Dialga of Darkness or Dark Dialga. It doesn't have anything to do with Shadow Pokémon either. They're called "Dark Pokémon" in Japan, but they use the english word for it.
I like to think that the baby Nidoran is us getting to see an infant version of them before sexual dimorphism started appearing. Like how human babies look pretty similar until they grow up a bit
@@kociarzultimate384 My head canon is that the line is drawn with their evolution lines being so different. I believe they are the only case of both the evolution lines and their physical attributes being different.
It's also possible that Pokémon can breed in multiple ways. What they do in the Daycare clearly isn't sexual reproduction but it's possible wild Pokémon could do that too
i kinda wish that some artists would draw some evolutions for those Magikarps either variants for Gyrados or brand new ones, sounds like it could be cool :D
I'd bet a few pokedollars that GameFreak originally intended Kecleon to change color based on what type it turned into with its ability but they either couldn't get it to work or it was cut for time. The ability is literally called "Color Change" after all (even in Japan, so it's not just a localization thing), it would make complete sense and give an actual in-game indicator of what type it currently is rather than just needing to remember it. Plus Gen3 was the generation that first introduced forms, so having a pokemon that could change color during battle would fit right alongside Castform changing shape / type with weather and the Deoxys forms. It's a shame they never went back and revised Kecleon to take on that trait. Now we have a handful of different pokemon that change color based on their type, but the chameleon pokemon with an ability named "Color Change" isn't one of them. And its probably too little too late at this point now that Kecleon has a second ability in Protean, because changing the color of its sprite definitely seems like a unique gimmick that would lock its ability much like all the other pokemon that can do similar things.
A fun thing about Bonsly appearing in Pokemon XD is that you actually *could* battle with it in the Battle Bingo side activity. If you got the Bonsly card (as was actually shown in the footage for XD) you could play the game and use Bonsly as your Pokemon for it, coming with the move Rock Slide.
@6:45 Just so you know, Wonder Guard doesn't block passive damage, which is common in competitive Pokémon, so Ma-Jinn wouldn't be as strong as some of you are probably thinking.
depends on what moves it can learn and its HP stat. Like Shedinja is just garbo cause it has 1 HP but if Ma-Jinn has at least a semi solid HP stat and moves like Recover or Rest it could be near unstoppable. Rest, Sunny Day/Rain Dance would make it very hard to kill pre-Fairy without the person using it to deliberately throw the match.

Dr. Lava recently posted about the Designs of Vullaby and Mandibuzz's eggshell and skirt being the 2 parts of one skull. Although, the skull doesnt seem to line up with and current Pokemon designs.
They don't need to match the pattern for the Gyarados. Just match the color scheme, for instance the one that was white with a orange mark on it's head evolve into a Gyarados that has it's main color be white and the secondary one be orange
When I first played Pokemon Diamond when I found out Burmy had a Trash Cloak and a Sand Cloak from, I thought it was really weird that Burmy didn't have a Snow Cloak form in the snowy part of Sinnoh. Even now I think it was SUCH a missed opportunity. (When I first said this, someone pointed out that apparently this apparently could not work at all. I only thought it would of been cool to see especially that Burmy didn't get any other cloak forms after Gen 4)
With Shadow Mewtwo being unobtainable, I like the think because its a Legendary it's heart is too dark to allow itself to be captured. In Pokemon Acerus, it was hinted that Legendary Pokemon allow themselves to be captured, as was the case with the Weather Trio/Quartet when Cogito said they were allowing themselves to travel with the player. Yes, you have to best them in battle most times so they will submit, but it explains how there can only be one in a game's universe, its the fact when its done with the trainer, it can leave. Shadow Mewtwo in spite of being beaten refuses this and will never partner with a trainer.
With the kecleon, I believe that the second one just changed it's color. Kecleon has the ability color change and in the Pokedex, it says that it can freely change it's color. The ability just changes the type to the type of the attack that hit it. You even need a special item to get past an invisible one.
There are certainly many of these. For example, you can't catch "Douno" either, even though this pre-evolution of Doduo and Dotrio is mentioned in the Pokedex.
I think that Crystal Onix just ended up becoming the inspiration for Steelix since Steelix, according to Gold and Silver's pokedex, is formed in a similar fashion.
Mega steelix has crystals around it. Crystal onix could be an onix that was ready to evolve. It was alread weak to fire moves and not so weak to water.
Honestly the Magikarp variants being available in the mainline games would be iconic. Give me a fishing competition in the vein of the bug catching contest and score the Magikarp by size and pattern. That'd be a great way to kill time, work on a collection, grind for rare or exclusive prizes, etc.
Thank you for mentioning the Crystal Onix. This was a Pokémon I have wanted to appear in the main series games ever since they brought in regional variants. This could exist by changing its typing and evolution methods. Even making it a Paradox Pokemon would have been acceptable if you don’t want it to evolve. I’m surprised to learn the other Kecleon colors from TCG. Along with the Purple Kecleon in the anime and Mystery Dungeon games, I would assume this was an idea for Kecleon’s Color Change ability which would have physically change its color depending the type. Meaning we would’ve gotten various Kecleon forms at the time. Maybe they couldn’t do it at the time or it was just scraped but kept the artwork that was repurposed. It’s not like we have Pokémon with a multitude of forms. (Spinda and Alcremie)

4:55 I always assumed these different colors of Kecleon are Kecleon that assumed different types by their signature ability. It is called "Color Change" after all. 6:47 "[...]the Fairy Type being introduced in Gen 5." - That's a bold claim. 8:00 I don't understand this: Why can't we catch the Pokéstar Studios things? Because they are (even within the Pokémon World) fiction. They aren't real. You cannot obtain what doesn't exist.
6:43 - The Fairy type was added in Gen 6, not Gen 5. 4:11 - Kecleon is based on a chameleon and is capable of changing its colour, and it can even make itself virtually invisible using that camouflage ability... Though it struggles to change the zig-zag pattern on its midsection, which is why that's what's used to tell if it's shiny or not. So, really, the green and yellow on Kecleon could be virtually any combination of colours on any individual Kecleon. They just never change from the "default" colours in the main series games. ...I do wish that that were rectified in some capacity. It's unlikely, though.
Yeah like if it belonged to the professor. So it's something we could see in his office and maybe talk to but not one we would be able to interact with. Tyranitar is based off of Godzilla, and both MT and Iron Thorns are based off of Mecha Godzilla, so yes and no in your theory. Toho in general is highly influencal in Pokémon, from it's origins, to the fact they are producers of the Anime.
This was a translation error, but I recall an NPC in Gen 1 talking about their Raichu Evolving after trading. It could also be worth mentioning because a Raichu evolution was initially planned but omitted before red/green.
Honestly, Pokemon Cafe Remix would be the perfect spot to introduce brand new Pokemon from a new generation without letting you play with them. Special events of a "Foreign Customer" from a new region arriving to the Cafe during the hype train of new generations. They have a special challenge order minigame or whatever included. Then again no one cares for Cafe Remix but ya know.
Regarding having future Pokemon like Bonsly and Munchlax appearing to hype up the next installments, didn't they do that with Galarian Slowpoke in the SM series?
Part of me now wishes that they have Crystal Onyx in the game as a regional variant. Maybe have it as an Ice/Rock or Ice/Ground type would work well for this Pokemon. Then they could make this as a sort of story arc
What about the 1% form of Zygarde? In they anime the call it Punychan. You can collect them in Ultra Sun, but you can't catch them or use them in battle. You can use the dog form, but not this form.
Well if we are including the manga, theres quite a few pokemon that cant be obtained thats only from the pokemon adventures manga that you can add to part 3: - Red's reverse evolving eevee - Blue's green gyarados - Zapmolcuno - Diamond's Torterra that knows the move "Dia's Mach One and Only Razor Leaf" (yes thats the name and its basically a grass type priority move)😅
2:00 I dunno if I trust this "official source" since it looks like they made nidoran male, female, giving the pink one eyelashes and the blue (female) no lashes which usually is seen as boy and girl traits. Along with pink usually being for girls and blue for boys.
6:45 I’m not sure if you misspoke or if you were intentionally wrong to get more comments correcting you, but I’ll feed the algorithm and say Fairy type was introduced in generation 6
I believe the actual inspiration for tyranitar's mecha versions would be mechagodzilla and that they kept that idea since tyranitar is one of the godzilla based pokemon
Mystery type still technically exists, though it's not exactly what you would call something that you can keep a Pokemon as or use at all times. Metronome 1/2, mimic and struggle are moves that are able to give you moves with the type. There are also some moves that will remove the type of the Pokemon that uses it, though typically it will only remove a single specific type.
???-type Arceus only existed to prevent crashes should one hack it into a game. Due to Multitype always referring back to the plate in battle, it will revert to Normal unless equipped with a plate. ???-type plates don't exist. Curse only had the ??? type in Gens 2 and 3 due to it changing depending on the user. Afterwards it was changed to Ghost. Eggs in Gen 3 also used ??? type but since we're changed to Normal. Moves that remove types like Roost or Burn Up only cause mono-types of the lost type to become typeless like Struggle for however long the move lasts, a turn for Roost and until switch off/end of battle for the rest.
@motxmod You just described what I was talking about, you might not have understood that but you did. Arkanine and other single types are able to become what it commonly referred to as mystery, ???, or type less. All are functioning the exact same way and all are displayed in the same way. This said you may not have caught what I was describing or not been paying attention. I completely understand why certain things are the way they are. Something else to consider is that there is a huge list of items that were in generation one and two that you might not have known about. The surf board, Terra suma, over level Rare candy, ???, Alternative HM 01 through 07, I can keep going on but the list of items that were typically only obtained through hacking or glitches. I'm completely willing to understand that the old games were extremely glitch filled along with barely being functional in many ways.
@motxmod It was displayed that way even if it wasn't necessary stated in the code. There are all kinds of things that might not be specifically stated in the code that the game does its best to display properly though it may not work properly. The next thing is that the game systems and item lists along with so much more is possible for them to do dealing with the way they display the pokemon and how they could easily clean up the item lists and shiny forms and other things. For example its entirely possible for them to simply have a simple bit of code that denotes the color scheme of a pokemon and then they could have 30 or more shiny or color variations on all pokemon. The next part is that they could have a pile of items that could easily be combined into a few fairly specific items. For example all of the Z crystals could be combined into one or two and the same for all of the mega stones and they could completely remove the urges from the game itself and they could also give all pokemon extra possible ways to evolve so you wouldn't have a charmander locked up at level 100 for example. This said there was a pile of things that they haven't technically removed or that they tried to remove but didn't completely remove. ??? Might not be a type technically after generation 5 but they still display type less as ??? Quite often. I don't claim to know everything but if it still doesn't display properly but as ??? Then they might as well not have removed it because it is not displayed properly. Typeless still displays as ??? Even though it might not be that it is still grouped under mystery type or ??? Even though it might not technically be that. Lastly there are some moves that it's impossible for them to get a STAB for any reason because of how the game is coded.

8:00 I don't understand this: Why can't we catch the Pokéstar Studios things? Because they are (even within the Pokémon World) fiction. They aren't real. You cannot obtain what doesn't exist.
It also appears that they also accidentally switched the genders of the Nidoran parents.
6:38
Fairy-Type was introduced in Gen. 6 (X&Y)
6:22 that’s where Soak Lanturn comes into play.
Love your videos bro big fan 💯 🙏
Like we couldn't battle it cuz it wouldn't belong to somebody we're going to fight. It would belong to somebody who's an ally but you know they're not battling us
Just FYI, you can get Shadow MewTwo in Pokemon Go. It isn't quite as boosted as maybe it should be, but it does exist and you can catch it
That's just corrupted Mewtwo
And it is not a main series game
I like to imagine that each Gyarados evolved from a Jumpikarp would have their own specisl colors
Unfortunately untrue if you actually do it though... (It's possible to evolve in Jump, but it's not a good thing there.)
@@TheRedSmarty well there's always the animwe that could give us thier own special colors, but did they do that? nope missed opportunity since the anime is known to make varients as well
You meant gen 6 at 6:45 but by mistake said gen 5
Bonsly crying makes me wanna cry… it’s so cute
I've usually ignored most of the side games in the main series games, like the contests etc. and focused mostly on the main gameplay, so I never fought these cinema Pokemon. Those were cool to see. I also hope Crystal Onix will become a thing someday...
Really appreciate ur commitment and dedication to ur vedios cuz we all know that gathering all these facts takes a lot of time research and time, so thank you for taking ur time just for our enjoyment and excitement ❤
Tyranitar is based off of Godzilla, and both MT and Iron Thorns are based off of Mecha Godzilla, so yes and no in your theory.
Toho in general is highly influencal in Pokémon, from it's origins, to the fact they are producers of the Anime.
Great vid
Fun fact: The "Mystery" type has no weaknesses. An Arceus hacked to have this type is legit the most powerful/broken Pokémon in existence.
I remeber seeing bosly on an old magazine as a kid it had me super intrigued
Regarding having future Pokemon like Bonsly and Munchlax appearing to hype up the next installments, didn't they do that with Galarian Slowpoke in the SM series?
yes and no. instead of an entirely new mon, it's just slowpoke again but with yellow on him.. it was kind of anti-hype
Yeah, it couldn't evolve, didn't work with Eviolite, and I think the only new move it got was Sludge. Overall meh.
Those pokestae studio creatures sure are a head scratcher
They need to just say ‘fuck it’ and let us have “Baby Forms” that hatch from the eggs. I want Nidoran nongendered. It’s fine. They can do it.
Doesn’t count as 4 stage if it’s a form!
Imma call the evil clefable clefarious... first form is clefoe....
Imagine all of these come in Gen 10, including Missingno as an official mythical Pokémon.
Well if we are including the manga, theres quite a few pokemon that cant be obtained thats only from the pokemon adventures manga that you can add to part 3:
- Red's reverse evolving eevee
- Blue's green gyarados
- Zapmolcuno
- Diamond's Torterra that knows the move "Dia's Mach One and Only Razor Leaf" (yes thats the name and its basically a grass type priority move)😅
2:00 I dunno if I trust this "official source" since it looks like they made nidoran male, female, giving the pink one eyelashes and the blue (female) no lashes which usually is seen as boy and girl traits. Along with pink usually being for girls and blue for boys.
Looking at comments I genuinely expected Magikarp’s Splash attack to do something while surfing 😭😭😭
6:45 I’m not sure if you misspoke or if you were intentionally wrong to get more comments correcting you, but I’ll feed the algorithm and say Fairy type was introduced in generation 6
When you were going towards crystal onix, first anime exclusive mon i thought of was baby lugia, not onix lol
In the manga, there is also a jellyfish-like pokemon. The main character even catches it.
What about the Valencia and pinkan island pokemon
Battling with Bonsly before Gen IV was so hype
I believe the actual inspiration for tyranitar's mecha versions would be mechagodzilla and that they kept that idea since tyranitar is one of the godzilla based pokemon
In pokemon anime , we have alread seen baby forms of first stage pokemon that are actually just small forms of those pokemon.
Just a little correction. Fairy type was introduced in gen 6, not 5
Imagine if the magikarp was programmed into the next few games as variants and only one exclusive per cartridge
Yes 💯 facts about the crystal Onix well said
Mystery type still technically exists, though it's not exactly what you would call something that you can keep a Pokemon as or use at all times.
@@jedstanaland2897 ??? wasn't in the code of Gen 5 or beyond and is thus retired.
Lucario was mentioned in mistery dungeon
Fairy type was introduced in Gen 6 6:44
I just started playing jump couple weeks ago, really fun time waster, got one shiny :)
They should make a saw Pokémon
13:18 in all fairness, nothing will top the decision of introducing Ho-Oh in the very first episode of the anime.
It’s still trash ash literally never got to meet ho-oh.
I wonder if the movie opponents had shinys? Also would the catch trainer pokemon GameShark code let you catch them?
I think excluding Crystal Onix from SV makes sense. Not only would it minimize confusion vis-a-vis terrastalization, but the Crystal Onix lives in the Orange Islands.
Also, three-headed Weezing could be on list #3.
And finally, I'm okay with Nintendo trolling BKT. He is not my good friend.
