Ygor Lebedev oh it definitely will be, firstly the barrel is fused to the frame so the heat transfers faster and more effectively to the grip, secondly it’s a gas delayed blowback like H&K P7. It traps the hot gasses within the gun to basically act as a pressure and cushion to delay the slide from opening. Theoretically you can do some insanely quick mag dumps… assuming you can stop the heat from burning your hand.
Hudson and Arsenal be like: yeah we put the bore low af and Laugo comes in and just shoves the whole fucking gun downwards inside the frame, adds a rail on top and calls it day
There's no free lunch. Heat is the issue. Looking at another video on the Alien I found a post from a competition shooter that has put a ton of rounds though one and he said the heat transfer into the frame is really bad, to the point it made it hard to hold. Go figure.
I taught a class of 25 using the HK P7M8 that uses the gas system this pistol has borrowed except this one is on top rather than below the barrel. Even thou the M8 has heat shields around the trigger guard we had to have two pistols per student to allow one to cool while using the other. Now this new pistol shouldn't be as bad as the P7 because the gas system is further away from the shooter hand but I would not be surprised if it did become too hot to be comfortable with extended shooting like we do in classes or practicing for matches. It will be interesting to see if this ever makes it into regular production.
This (the heat issue) gives me pause and certainly carries more weight than the other main gripe I see in this comment section... "it's ugly", which I don't get, I think it's sexy as fv

Five degrees is getting very close to mechanical elimination of muzzle flip. The only thing beyond this is lazer tag.
