I once knew a guy like that he was from Gaylord, Michigan; we called him Detroit Ron for obvious reasons. Thanks for the videos, Chris. Don't work Brandon too hard or he might expect to get paid.

Worked with a guy that couldn't figure out a log tape, 1' increments with a shoe nail on one end, and a clip to attach to your belt, dude insisted he needed someone to hold the end for him, and couldn't figure out how to attach the tape to his overalls... Few days later he left, very upset at me... (this is after I damned near swung a bucket full of logs into him cause he walked up on the machine I was working in, chewed he ass for trying to shovel tracks on the same machine while I was trying to load logs with it, then spent the better part of 8 hours staying warm in the service truck while the rest of us froze our muddy asses off... BTW he ran that service truck nearly out of fuel 45 miles from the nearest station... I of course managed to finish it off 3 mi from home, in the dark on a winding road... cause the fuel gauge didn't work at all grrrrrr)
as you were crushing the old concrete pipe, I couldn't help wondering why you didn't toss a couple of them in the pond for fish habitat.... but from the looks of the silt in there, they might just sink and become a nuisance for the person that gets to dredge that one.
I’ve done this before when I was working for the yard crew at a slaughterhouse. We where building waste pits and digging the canals out and putting in risers and grouting the plastic pipe it. Tho sadly I always got the blocks that where a foot thick of concrete and had to use a sledgehammer and sometimes hit rebar aw that was hard work
I work on my family farm with my grandfather though my parents own a construction company, underground piping and steel structure building mostly these days, so I’ve been around a lot of the equipment you use and ran too but I still like the vids. I do mostly stay away from the construction side of the family business as it’s never interested me as much as the farm side.
Chris you and mr. dirt perfect need to have a discussion on laying the bell end of the pipe in the right direction. He disagrees with you and I can’t figure out why! Both of you know what your doing when you work, but I wish you two could come up with a discussion on the matter for all to see!
More!! Wish I could play with dirt all day once in a while, I’m sure you get sick of it sometimes... I definitely don’t get sick of watching you tho...
Dang Chris how did you resist not stacking those piece of concrete pipe sections you removed?!? I would made a little pipe sculpture outta those pieces
Now comes a teaching time : why does the overflow head toward the houses? Looks like it will flood the yards. Is the path deep and long? Heading to a pond. I am learning alot at 78. Thanks.
What was that "anti-seep" collar you mentioned? To keep it from floating up or shifting downstream? Is the weight of the pond dam not enough to control for that? Thanks in advance
There's companies that specialize in aquatic life for ponds, such as stocking ponds with fish and plants. Wouldn't surprise me that they can do safe fish removal, and ones that do usually have holding tanks somewhere while the pond is being worked on. They care for the fish until it's safe for them to be returned to the pond.
that is where metric is so much easier to use! you are using base 10 and decimals instead of fractions of an inch, 12 inches per foot, 3 feet per yard... Being in Canada, I have to use both; I much prefer metric for the most part. I will never buy a tape measure that doesn't have both!
