Literally came her to listen better after doing that quest- specifically, it's a pendant Alleria gave her once that you can find in the ruins of Windrunner Spire, and her response is to be sad... right until she remembers her audience. Then she drops the amulet and pretends it meant nothing.
THE most memorable questing moment i ever experienced in WOW. Best quest ever made with such an awesome and unexpected ending. When she sings "Shindo fallar na" that means, "(We have) failed, enemies are breaking through", other than that the translation is spot on. The reason i think this song is so tragic is because i think it is some of the last things Sylvanas heard before she died. The song describes in a very gruesome and vague way what happened at the time of her death. The battlements where she fought her last battle against the scourge were overrun and she could hear the terrible screams of her fellow quel'dorei as they were being cut down by relentless waves of unending undead horrors. I can imagine the terrified high elf soldiers fighting during their last stand and yelling "By the light of the Sun, we have failed! The enemy has broken through!", the horror of seeing your comrades die all around you and the rivers of blood on the battlefield as the high elves kept falling back to another bullwark. These words are the last things that she heard on the battlefield before she faded out... "Shindo sin'dorei" - (We have) failed, children of blood That is the the verse she added later on when she made up the song, that IS her personal lament because in her mind she failed to defend her beloved homeland and stop the undead. She also blames herself and her inadequecies as a troop commander because she failed to save the soldiers under her command. A true heartwrenching story about the last moments of the high elves in their battle against the Scourge.
Indeed, it really is a song about fall of elves as the Scourge devours their ancient homeland. When i played WC3 back in the day, i didn't gave it much thought and the game doesn't exactly allows you to properly feel the gravity of Arthas's actions against elves. But later materials do a wonderful work of establishing of just how much Scourge and Arthas scarred the world beyond repair, how the High Elves will probably never recover from it. Warcraft really showed one of a kind story, the story about heroes rising to challenge and overcoming it, but also a story about loss, about great heroes falling in their quest and their attempts to do good backfiring in most terrible ways and causing irreversible harm to the world.

One of the greatest tragedies of the Warcraft universe. From Arthas' perspective, the taking of Quel'Thalas was just a hard-won victory over an enemy force, no different than when the Alliance defeated the Horde at the end of the Second War. But the Sindorei see what happened for what it truly was: an army of undead monstrosities committing wholesale slaughter upon an entire people. Two things I repeated a gazillion of times in WOW, the Intro to the Death Knights and the Blood Elves starting zone to get The Lady's Necklace. Sylvanas was always to me the Archetype of a true emanciptated woman.
This song is even sadder after witnessing what blizzard has done with Sylvanas and her role in the story of warcraft universe. (as in how they ruined her character and everything she stood for)
@@awesometown1000 I mean, it makes sense for all of them, it's just that it happens kinda suddenly. Arthas, Kaelthas, Maiev, Malygos and Nelpharion, Garrosh, they all started up good and become evil. It happens a lot but it's pretty much one per expansion. Arthas got a big backstory and wasn't really a nice guy and undead Sylvanas was always out for herself so I guess these cases are no surprise.
This song is why I can never bring myself to hate Sylvanas. She died with honor only to have it undone by a monster and even though shes never exactly been a hero since she did largely only what was necessary to lead the Forsaken and achieve her revenge against Arthas. Then on achieving that she learned the hard way that all the good she'd ever done was as good as meaningless in the afterlife? Yeah I can completely see where one would go off the deep end in the new goals of salvation for herself and trying to change how the rules of death work.
They are but both are monsters. Even in life Arthas was a massive dick. People like to forget this so they can have this dumb narrative that Arthas was in any way a good person.
Exactly. Arthas fanboys are the most braindead and delusional ones in the wow community. Arthas was literally a weak cuck of nerzul, he was never heroic or brave, he betrayed lordaeron and the humans. Sylvanas on the other hand sacrificed herself for her people, she is the definition of heroic. Idc about what she did to teldrassil, the races of azeroth had it coming, the forsaken were ignored and isolated for too long, these circles draw consequences.
I don't understand why people say this is a huntingly beautiful song. It is filled with so many dark emotions. So much grief, pain, suffering and despair. It hurt and caused me anxiety at the same time. Such tragedy...
Because. There’s something oddly hauntingly beautiful about it. For someone to break away from the scourge like what she did, takes willpower. You would’ve thought that she would’ve drowned in her emotions after what her army went through. Hence the song. But she didn’t
I still sometimes go back to my Garrison in WoD to listen to "Lament of the Highborne" on my jukebox. Just chill there, wait for groups etc, listen to the fall of a whole nation.
Hearing this incredible song again makes the more recent Shadowlands lore even more confounding and bamboozling, wrecking her as a character, and of course the decline and fall of Blizzard sadder as a whole.
Faffo90 this is the second comment I’ve seen you reply to, putting other people down for their personal preferences. People can do what they want as long as it’s not hurting anyone. It’s no skin off your back if someone else sides with the Alliance so shut the fuck up
I take it back now. Sylvanas is the Bitch Queen who's even betrayed her own people for her own greedy ambitions! She's even betrayed your Horde and killed it the second time (ehem, Garrosh 2.0). I hate your Horde, but even I take pity as to how low your Horde has become since Sylvanas took over.

And the night elves thought something similar when she destroyed their lives, like Arthas destroyed the lives of her people.
Uwielbiam przy tej piosence czytać warcrafta, klimat 110%!
This song still hits me in the same way it did when I first finished the quest. Eventually I ended up acquiring, Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury. I would never have imagined it.
This song gives me chills and make me feel empty inside at the same moment. Therefore can't decide if I want to hear it again or not
From a time where passion and love was out into wow. Dont get me wrong, there are definitely still people who work there that are passionate about wow, but far kess than years ago
Instant tbc memories
Любимый мой персонаж, Сильвана!
This song started playing in the middle of a battleground. Everyone ceased to fight for the duration. It was epic
I can’t believe what they did with the dark lady’s storyline....
What is a storyline?
But really, Blizzard just makes their old and beloved characters into the villain of the week.
@@glanni next ones gonna be tyrande, calling it now.
@@Off_Screen I'm in on that. It's gonna happen.
I stopped caring about the story multiple times, and it's jumped the shark more than actually doing anything else. But to me personally, they shot the shark and then fed it to its children in Shadowlands, with how they handled Kael'thas' and Sylvanas' characters. fuck them honestly.
@@Off_Screen If they massacre my girl like they did with Sylvanas, I'll be fucking furious.
@@Shadowsdeity well with the way she is now what with tyrande being a bit of psycho right now...yeaaaaaah you want me to sign you up for some anger management classes?
Как это прекрасно мурашки по коже
I love this; it's even more touching when you think about the heartache Sylv went through.
If you read her book you know how sad this is
Those of you that see this... Read the Sylvanas novel. Or, better yet, listen to the audiobook that's narrated by her voice actor, Patty Mattson. It covers everything you'd want to know about Sylvanas, and her life, and motivations. From her childhood in Eversong, to present day... This woman has had a long, tragic life.
When she sobs this finding her brother…. I cried.
I want this played at my funeral.

And after, I'll serve my queen.
I think to serve Bwonsamdi is much better, than serving Sylvanas
@@Melon-op3dr I'd happily serve both!
@@Melon-op3dr Deathwing are you an dead?
This comment didnt age well
Yes I too shall serve my queen. Hail Sylvanas, the dark lady. She did nothing wrong.
Two things I repeated a gazillion of times in WOW, the Intro to the Death Knights and the Blood Elves starting zone to get The Lady's Necklace. Sylvanas was always to me the Archetype of a true emanciptated woman.
wow man......this tune, so many memory's....no king rules forever
If this isn't played at my funeral, I'm not dying
This song is even sadder after witnessing what blizzard has done with Sylvanas and her role in the story of warcraft universe. (as in how they ruined her character and everything she stood for)
Same with Kael'thas tbh. Blood Elves not getting a break.
I'm so old that I remember Sylvanas as a Dark Elf. 😢😢😢😢
Thank you got the translations. Much love
Such a beautiful song, I shall play it non-stop on all blood elf characters.
To this day one of my favorite songs in wow, and my sister showing me the quest where you watch her sing it had me AGAPE.
i never knew about this the song was great untill i understand the lyrecs thats tragic
😢😢
I know nothing about these games, but I love these songs.
Sylvanas is amazing why Blizzard keeps trying to make her more and more evil?
*cuts off lich kings head*
Me evil...? Nah i just take whats rightfully mine
She is not, Lady Sylvanas did nothing wrong !
They kinda make a random leader become evil every expansion. Maybe there's a lottery for it.
Happened to Kaelthas, Garrosh and now her.
Xis
At least it made sense for Garrosh. He was doing what was best for the Orcs. So from an Orcish point of view, he was one of the best Warchiefs.
People who play HotS know that this song is the last thing you hear before the enemy Sylvanas throws you into her team and murders you.
Aaaahhh i remember when Sylvanas said that line "Shindu fallah na" to Arthas in wc3.
I really appreciate it, and this music is awesome
New game: take a shot every time she says sin'dorei. Good luck
Sylvanas Windrunner. May your soul rest in peace where your personality died.. Just before BFA
For the Forsaken
This song is why I can never bring myself to hate Sylvanas. She died with honor only to have it undone by a monster and even though shes never exactly been a hero since she did largely only what was necessary to lead the Forsaken and achieve her revenge against Arthas. Then on achieving that she learned the hard way that all the good she'd ever done was as good as meaningless in the afterlife? Yeah I can completely see where one would go off the deep end in the new goals of salvation for herself and trying to change how the rules of death work.
So we gonna pretend Arthas isn't a monster when he clearly is and as it stands the only previous villain Sylvanas might be worse than is Garrosh.
Why am I getting ASMR tingles from this? Damn, her VA is good. O.O
I think is a great piece of music.
Always and forever, my Queen. I will be by your side until the end of Azeroth.
Bruh
CHILLS. EVERY. TIME.
Sylvanas will always be my queen. 💖💖💖
Back in my day Sylvanas was a tragic character
How the mighty have fallen.😔
this is by far the best song in the expantion ty
The Destruction of Silvermoon by Arthas' forces is only comparable to the destruction of Warcraft lore by the current writers
Even though I haven't been playing as long as my parents and older siblings I never knew WoW had songs...
I live only to serve you my queen (on my knees)
Chills every time
Someone in my guild has the toy that plays this and I swear to god hearing it after every first wipe got oldddd
I'm still upset at just how much they ruined Sylvanas :(
i love sylvanas. i don't care if it's necrophilia :D
Illidan Stormrage *same not sake
You don't know that, Illidan may just like a good rice wine
or salmon sushi
It isn`t Necrophilia. There is a difference between dead and undead. Sylvanas is undead. Wich means that she is between dead and alive.
if you have to argue whether or not its Necrophilia you probably dont want to do it
I miss this game sooo much, but like Back in 2008-2009 😢
ASMR doesn't give me tingles, but this does.
I want a shorter cooldown on Sylvanas Music box. Jukebox was the best feature in wod...

I just fell in love with Sylvanas... Though I still wanted her and the Forsaken and the sin'dorei out of the Horde (and even join the Alliance)
Faffo90 yes, the alliance are racists, but please lay off the homophobic slurs k thx.
Faffo90 this is the second comment I’ve seen you reply to, putting other people down for their personal preferences. People can do what they want as long as it’s not hurting anyone. It’s no skin off your back if someone else sides with the Alliance so shut the fuck up
Faffo90 At least alliance doesn't have a psychopath bitch who betrays the horde and works with some unknown figure
