You say that the music of Bach and Dowland is better than that of Metallica. Every lutenist knows this, even an amateur like me. Never in my life have I found greater artistic pleasure than listening to or trying to play Bach on my instrument. What you say, therefore, we all know. But it turns out that I also like rock. And it's not that Metallica is my favorite band, but I really enjoy listening to it and, in this case, freely adapting it to my favorite instrument. Honestly, I can't find a single reason to stop doing it or to apologize for it. In music and art, my friend, I think there is no room for the intransigence your words show. When I post a video on my channel, the humility of being an amateur prevails. I will never achieve the excellence of a professional musician but I hope I never lose the freedom to play whatever I want, as long as my technical limitations allow me, of course. I don't need the others to give me approval: the day I notice on my channel that the public don’t like what I post, I will frankly thank the audience for these years and I will close it, but then I will continue playing exactly the same as always, that is, Bach above all but the Beatles, Clapton, Knopfler, Blackmore and Metallica too. No one can ever deprive me of the right to enjoy the music I've always loved. Thanks for your words.
Absolutely beautiful. it's a shame that the lute fell out of common use. The sound is lovely like honey and butter. Thanks for sharing this.
It's a pleasure, my friend.
Seth Latter still widely used in the Middle East but known as Oud
Just imagine walking down. A rock and dirt road in meadevil times. This guy playing this outside a tavern or pub or whatever they called bars then.
JAMESk3gs and you just got back from collecting dragon scales to create new armor
@ The renaissance lute has a Low D which is essentially like if you tuned a Guitar down a whole step. This sounds great with singing.
I'm reading 'The Name of the Wind', and this is perfect background music for the book. I only wish there were more great lute covers like this.
beware part 3 is not out yet. You might be setting yourself up for misery..:)
@@vvenkat111 I know! I'm in the last 100 pages of 'The Wise Man's Fear' now, and it looks like he's never going to finish the series. According to his website, he seems to host a lot of writing workshops on cruise ships... Ugh. He'll probably open a restaurant soon.
@@MatthewTrussell Just out of curiosity, how do you think it will all end? Do you think Kvothe is a braggart or there is some other game afoot?
@@vvenkat111 i hope that when Kvothe finishes narrating to the Chronicler, he would remember who he was in the past and the "fire" in his eyes would be back. Then he'll try to find Denna and get revenge on Chandrians. It would be cool
You should check out danbluedeer also! He has a ton of instrumental lute and guitar videos.
Thank you for keeping the spirit of lute alive. God speed Bard.
when your metal as fuck but you live in the 1598
+Will .F Is this love or hate?
David Hernández Romero this video is awesome. Great job I was just trying to make a joke lol
+Will .F Hahahaha! Blame my English, my friend. Sorry for my clumsiness and thank you very much.
If there's such a thing as a "metal" melody, it's my favorite part of the genre. I often feel dissappointed when the grit obscures the complex melodic subleties of great metal compositions. This lute arrangement brings that out brilliantly.
Quite a rewarding comment! Thank you very much, my friend.
beethoven would be a metalhead if he lived now
It's awesome just how well that song fits the instrument.
I thank you for that.
This is awesome.
I'm a bit late to the party but I'd love to see more metal covers with the magic called lute.
+Quinn Isgod Metal covers or originally compositions. Lute's magic conquers all. Thanks for your words.
What a lovely adaptation, perfectly suited to the lute's characteristic sonority!
Thank so much, George. I certainly tried to adapt such a different type of music to my instrument, although I based on the previous transcription for baroque lute made by Lauri Niskanen. I invite you anyway to watch the rest of my recordings on the UA-cam channel.
Truly wonderful! And they said the lute was out of style. Indeed, that which was old shall yet be new again!
Thank you very much. The lute is in good health at the moment.
This is the most beautiful cover I've heard in my life. I can't stop listening to it.
Thanks for making me feel privileged, then. It's my pleasure!
This is legit my favorite thing ever on the internet.....
+gyuru1234 And this is my pleasure, then. Cheers!
God bless you both :" )
God has a purpose for you so seek his kind warm love and guidance :" )
i swear, people from renaissance times would love it
Wow I feel like it's 1522 when listening to you play so soothing, thank you!
Or even 1523, hahaha. It's my pleasure and I really thank your words.
I'm playing a bard in my next D&D campaign so thanks for all the music!
Yes! That was hauntingly beautiful.
Beautiful words! Thank so much.
This is so beautiful!
Incredibly beautiful
Lovely music I shall say now I wish I could listen to a lute all day by playing it
+David White It's music is certainly incomparable. I strongly recommend you to listen to its original repertoire. Greetings!
Just preciously beautiful!
god you play beautifully, you captured the feel of telling a story through the strings, now i need to add a lute in my music room and master it too. hopefully it translates well from guitar so i can cut some learning time out
+bry33productions Thanks for your comment, my friend. I strongly aim you to discover this captivating instrument... and its original music, of course.
Wow dude that's amazing! Medieval Metal FTW!
Absolutely beautiful
+Abigail Willis So kind of you.
So near, though distant lands divide,
Yet closer still, our hearts reside.
Evermore in faith we stand,
For naught else holds command.
My soul, once closed, now open wide,
Together, life's path we abide.
These words I utter, true and fair,
For naught else do I declare.
In thee, trust's essence I do find,
Each dawn brings new wonders, kind.
With open hearts, we change our view,
For naught else holds value true.
Heed not the deeds of those apart,
Heed not their minds, nor cold of heart.
But this I know, and hold sincere,
So near, though distant lands appear.
Evermore in faith we stand,
For naught else holds command.
Heed not the deeds of those apart,
Heed not their minds, nor cold of heart.
My soul, once closed, now open wide,
Together, life's path we abide.
These words I utter, true and fair,
For naught else do I declare.
In thee, trust's essence I do find,
Each dawn brings new wonders, kind.
With open hearts, we change our view,
For naught else holds value true.
Heed not the whispers of the throng,
Heed not their games, their judgments wrong.
Heed not the deeds of those apart,
Heed not their minds, nor cold of heart.
And this I know, with steadfast might,
So near, though distant lands alight.
Evermore in faith we stand,
For naught else holds command.
Thanks for such beautiful verses, my friend.
Metallica in the middle ages
you in wonder if you went back in time and played this for some middle aged person would they enjoy it
King jame's ! lol
@@jordanbrowne7417 hah that exact thought was why I sought out this video in the first place
@@jordanbrowne7417 It would be almost impossible for them to understand since everyone spoke middle english. lol.
@@simgingergirl yeah but you don't need to understand the lyrics to enjoy the vocals.
i love the sound of lutes
Thanks! I understand you.
Amazing and very inspiring! Keep it going!
+Shinigami Dante Hi! Thanks so much for your words. I invite you to listen to my complete collection of high quality MP3 recordings, of course totally free.
+David Hernández Romero do you have the tablature you wrote for this? Also i have a 7 course lute so I guess i'll have to mess around with some of it right?
Gorgeous. God Bless!
Thank you very much, my friend.
@ De nada y que Dios te Bendiga!
Beautiful
YES! That is music to my ears. It's 🤘 Awesome! 🤘 Rock On! 😁
Rock will never die!! Thanks!
Incredible 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much.
Predivno!
to live is to die by metallica would be a great cover with a lute
Shockingly appropriate matchup
Thanks!
Nice job! 🤘🏻🎶
So close... no matter how far....
Grande David!!!!!!! :DDDDDD
¡Me encanta, lo comparto!
Muchas gracias, Lola, encantado.
I love this!!!!
+Peyton Taylor Thank you very much, it's a pleasure.
So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words, I don't just say
And nothing else matters
Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know
So close, no matter how far
It couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know
I never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words, I don't just say
And nothing else matters
Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters
Never cared for what they say
Never cared for games they play
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know, yeah, yeah
So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No, nothing else matters
Didn't listen to this version all the way through.
The sound-cloud version, however... I just binge-listened to about half of your stuff and you're amazing with that lute.
Thank you very much for your comment. You can't imagine how much I appreciate the time for writing that. I strongly recommend the SoundCloud version, but any visit to my UA-cam channel is frankly welcome.
Beatifull
If someone didn't know better, you could convince someone this was an Elizabethan piece :)
I discovered this instrument via The Witcher. Beautiful.
This reminds me of music system of LOTRO. Used to have this song ready for the guild parties. Good times.
It would very much suit a backing track being played in a tavern in the presence of pirates
Amazing
+Kumax Thank you very much!
Lute music is beautiful and this would make for a great song to woo the ladies with
+Angel Jolie Taylor-Wilson Haha I hope it's not only for this, but thank you very much.
Beautiful! Cheers from Canada! Subscribing.
+Denise Sevier-Fries Thanks so much from the other side of the world. It's my pleasure.
Algal the Bard brought me here:-)
I think it sounds great with Vocals
Surely it would!
@ The Lute is a great instrument to accompany the Voice.
@ Try Singing it while playing it because it's an easy one to sing. This is a whole step lower than the original which might be a bit easier to sing. However to tune this lute up a step to match the original key I'd need slightly thinner strings.
OMG! That is beautyful brother! Dang! Love the natural rise and fall you install into , not only your picking and but also your fingering. ! And mean, its sure more than just the notes or music. Thus REALLY is famously played.with soul ,passion, heart and the understanding of why we should do music! To do just that + ! 100% love this. Can i share your link to this please? Amazingly projected bro!
Probably, the warmest comment I've ever received. Thank you very much, my friend. It's a big pleasure to see my videos shared.
*_Metal, uh, finds a way._*
Gimme the lute!
Gimme the lute!
Bonito.
banger
Uh yes I remember listening to that guy in the taverns back when I was lad
Nice, now i can play this on Mordhau.
❤
Very beautiful indeed!! Since I am playing renaissance lute for some time, any chance to get the tabs for this?
+Rhunlet Thanks so much. Please understand that I need before to make sure that my transcriptions are going to be published or not. It's just a question of respectfulness to the editor, not a personal decision. If the final answer is negative, don't hesitate that they'll be freely available on my channel. Best regards!
It depends... if it is possible I would like to share them with my teacher (at the "Konservatorium" in Frankfurt/Main in germany) and their students. If it is not possible I would fully respect this and strictly only use it for my personal training...
Dope
Saludos.
Hi again! After many time wishing to publish the tablatures of my transcriptions of rock music, I can say they are finally available on my BandCamp site: davidhernandez.bandcamp.com/album/rock-music-for-lute-album-tabs
Hope you enjoy it!
Mortal shell impervious lute brought me here
Metallica when Ezio was trying to sprint through the people
Beautiful. Is the tablature notation for this available?
Not at the moment. Hopefully soon.

❤️😼
Did u tune a lute to standard guitar tuning?
The tuning is different. Take the guitar, lower the third string to F sharp and place a capo on the third fret: you already have the basic lute tuning, you just need to add two more bass strings.
The King pardon your life for now,
Savage.
Maybe this is why Mediterranean/Hispanic music sounds the way it does
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks!
maestro soy jose manuel me he suscrito
well in, people from the 17th century dont know what they're missin out on, sounds great.
+9Years AGooner That's nice to hear, my friend. But on the other hand they could listen to Dowland, Gaultier, Gallot... Thank you very much for your comment.
beautiful, are there tabs of this available?
I'm afraid they are not published. Maybe someday I will get it. Thank you.
@ no problem

Awesome cover. You should try "Orchid" by Black Sabbath since it already has a medieval vibe
+e. b. That could be a wonderful option, no doubt. Maybe some day, I really like Black Sabbath. Thanks for your recommentation and interest.
Very beautiful instrument! What type of lute is it and who was it made by? Thanks!
+dcfreak23 Thanks! It's a lute made by the great Spanish luthier Francisco Hervás. It corresponds to the eight courses model used in the late Renaissance era.
But does it djent?
y u do dis
It can djent like updog.
@@martinhroch344 *sigh* what's updog?
homeless turkey Nothing, dog.
What’s up with you?
Could you make a slower version? Thanks
It would be an option, without a doubt.
It sounds like classic guitar with shoeter neck
What are the advantages of the lute comparing to the accoustic guitar?
Better range, more strings.
Beautiful.
I would like to player similar pieces with my lute, but it's hard to find tabs
Where can i find the tablature you are using ?
Sorry, I'm afraid I dont't have the required user rights to publish them. This is only a not monetarised video that the owners allow me to publish on UA-cam. Thanks.

great/.... \m/
Thanks!!
It reminds me to the Assassin's Creed II soundtrack lol
A little too hardcore for me, not a metal fan
Thats a nice...

This is way too fast. Play it at .70
ud
0:22 sour note. No worries, just have minor OCD and I had to comment.
Hahaha thanks for the observation, this is how one can only get better.
mordhau xD
YES.
I don't search for any nobleness when I play the music I love, and even less desperately. I simply play these arrangements of mine because I feel happy when I do them. Whenever I want to play noble music I play Renaissance and baroque compositions, but if I feel like playing Metallica I'm incapable of imagining any obstacle preventing me from doing it. What's the damage in that? What does your hatred hid?
And this is how you kill a beautiful instrument
But I kill nothing, my friend. If you are so kind to have a look on this other lists of mine, maybe it would demonstrate to you the healthy life of my instrument:

I only advise you that any of my videos are pretending to be professional. So take them freely as you like! Thanks for your words.
Too fast bruv
It's a different approach to same composition.
+Jürgen Fiedler I understand you didn't enjoy my video, but I'm afraid the sound is authentically mine. I simply can't do it better, sorry for the inconvenience. As for the instrument, it isn't a guitar but a lute. Thanks for your comment.
