From the first minute I discarded to perform a version as elaborated as yours, since I don't master the lute at the same level than yours with the guitar, but the emotion this music causes is beyond any technical difficulty: it simply works and makes you feel special when you play it (even in my case!).

The right hand posture is the traditional in lute, but is the instrument tuned as if it were a guitar?

Not exactly. Imagine you tune down the third string a semitone (from G to F#) and put a bar on the third fret: except for the absence of the two extra basses, you would have the lute tuning like this.
