I love this franchise ! Tremors 1 is my childhood's fave movie, the second is baddass awesomness, the third was a bit of amiss but the 4th is peachy and refreshing
Tremors series kind of reminds me of the Critters series. Not really in the monsters or locations, but with casting as it has a recongnizable protagonist from the first film, then from the 3rd and onward they had the most favorite and popular character (Charlie McFadden for Critters and Burt Gummer for Tremors) who was in all the movies being a major focus and most important character who hunts the monsters down as it is their own personally sworn duty. Oh also it's thanks to them the monsters blew up in a giant explosion in the 2nd film thanks to a vehicle filled with explosive material.
Honestly I kinda agree that the "Ass blasters" stage was ruined by the fact that only a quite minor set of changes happened to the creature going from a Shieker to a Ass blaster. What I thought would have been more interesting to do is have each stage of the life cycle to a point take one sense to the extreme, like how the Graboid stage took the sense of touch or hearing to an extreme, then the Shiekers took the sense of sight to the extreme with the heat sight they have, which than for me the logical next stage would be for the Ass-blaster to have maybe the sense of smell heightened. If they basically used their sense of smell to locate nearby prey while on the ground, and then used their ass-blaster to close on the target that would be interesting. Though also if the sense of smell were powerful enough in a movie at least it might be reasonable that they could launch themselves up high to sample the scents ont he winds up there, and zero in on large groups of prey, or areas that would be safe for them to lay their eggs at.Maybe they would have something like a breeding ground that have a specific scent marker, and the Ass-blasters using their heightened sense of smell can locate that marker an progress towards it. That would give their life cycle even more details, and explain how maybe they use these geological pens like perfection valley to protect their young/eggs inside.
It’s possible the Shrieker stage is actually a Larval stage for the Assblaster like the Dirt Dragons are for the Graboids, they both end up shedding before transforming after all.
I remember seeing this movie and REALLY wanting to read those Darkhorse Comics shown in the Store, you can pretty accurately imagine my disappointment when I found out they weren’t real… on that note tho I’m genuinely surprised that Tremors The Series wasn’t continued in Comic form.

He really makes the series whether side character or main he's usually the most entertaining one on screen.. don't get me wrong i do enjoy the first two though but really either the first or first two could be there own thing. The tone and focus shifts a fair bit.

I love that somehow in this movie it is implied Burt somehow planned out and knew to the millisecond exactly when a fire would detonate his ammunition and reloading station, as though he knew there would be a point in the future he would blow up his home. I love how the life cycle of these creatures is basically the extremes of a natural life cycle. The graboids must eat to grow , the shriekers eat to make as many of themselves as possible, and the ass-blasters are really only there to travel as far as possible to lay the eggs to make the next generation.
A desert is defined by how little precipitation - rain, snow, etc it gets not temperature. Antarctica is a desert so is the Sahara. Deserts can be hot cold or both and there's also seasons to take into account as well as is at night or day even many deserts that are hot during the day can be cold at night

This movie really developed Burt's personality that I have come to love. This movie was good, but not great in my opinion. When I found out about Assblasters years after I first saw parts of this movie when I was little, I HAD to find and watch this movie. The movie had good moments, some funny parts (i.e. "Burt, you don't have a gun. Deal with it!"), and established the characters who would be in the series. Overall, your review was good and fair.

The graboid life cycle though? Idk, idk how the fuck one life goes to 3-6??? I think when it bursts out and the shriekers come out, it dies. Its like a bad birth or something. However.. Eating the graboid? Doubt it.. Think again about 2, all they did was bore their way out and of course the graboid felt that, aka... Screaming and yelling *shudders* it gives me nightmares..
for the shrieker numbers it actually is canonically accepted that the reason for six shriekers instead of the three in aftershocks is because in the process of hatching within the living worm the asexual reproduction through eating survival mechanism occures as three shriekers grow and eat the insides of the worm then double in number but they stop at six as what's left is only enough to allowthe infant shriekers to grow to full size before breaking out and hunting enough food to reproduce

What I like about the 4 tremors movies so much( no, I do not consider the 5th, 6th, and 7th canon) is these four things are always present: 1) lots of practical effects. The creatures look so good, between the graboids, shriekers, and ass blasters, they really went out to have as much practical stuff or animatronics as possible. I really like the graboid look as it's what you'd expect from a subterannean worm like lifeform likely from pre cambrian times, and the serpent like tendrils really make them eerie, how can they hiss despite being essentially tongues? 2) A lot of landscape use, they do a lot outside and it really makes it feel real. 3) Burt Gummer. 4) the wild west type town and setting, does a good job of selling the fear, after all in a desert there's few ways in or out and it's far from everyone, plus the way the town is, it really sells it as a dying western town that is a nice mix of people, from the store itself that really is like the community hub, even with it's own bar, the enterprising shop owner, the conspiracy anti government people, the ranch owner, the artist type, the working class underdogs, the greedy real estate people. The later ones failed cause they took it outside of the wild west lands, added too much new stuff and got a lot cheaper with lots more cgi that makes the earlier ones look far better.

couple thoughts on the cesium watch 1. since it has a receiver antenna for the main clock, could el blanco be picking up disturbances in the vibration? like, the vibration would be saturating the atmosphere, so it would be like looking for ripples in a lake... 2. wouldn't a high tech watch like that possibly give off it's own unique mechanical vibrations? like, because this watch is so advanced, the ticking is distiguishable from others, like an arhythmic heart not discounting the vibration of the clock coming from elsewhere, just adjusting the feasibility of the watch being what gives away his position...

Actually not all Hermaphrodite require a mate to reproduce. Certain types such as Annelid Worms and Conifers were cross pollination/cross-insemination. Certain flowers are capable of both cross and self pollination. Also Tapeworms are capable of both cross and self insemination.
I always thought the cesium watch scene was character development. Burt becomes slightly more government friendly (working with the Federales in 2 and less fear of the US government in 3). He becomes more connected to people literally and figuratively.
The greatest crossover of all time would be if Gremlins, Critters and Graboids invaded a small town in 2019. Way less guns will be around so they’d have to get creative. Hell, the Gremlins may steal and use what guns are around.

I know AvP is not exactly trustworthy, but I believe that the Predator's stomach is closer to the top of his chest. Notice that The chestburster comes out at about where the human heart would be. I had watched Tremors I and II in the past couple weeks, and i watched Tremors 3 for the first time today. I thought it was cool and great, I and II are better though. But still i like this one almost as much as i liked Afterschocks. Also it was really sad when Miguel died.

Yeah, that was a fan theory. Particularly dumb one considering you could see the tentacles pretty easily with the surfaced graboid in Tremors 2.

I know AvP is not exactly trustworthy, but I believe that the Predator's stomach is closer to the top of his chest. Notice that The chestburster comes out at about where the human heart would be. This is also supported by how since the Queen impaled the Predator where the human stomach should be, and the chestburster still survived, that the Predator's stomach is closer to the top of his chest.

I had watched Tremors I and II in the past couple weeks, and i watched Tremors 3 for the first time today. I thought it was cool and great, I and II are better though. But still i like this one almost as much as i liked Afterschocks. Also it was really sad when Miguel died.
