    In 2004, one year after the Tremors TV series came and went and only 3 years since Tremors 3, a new entry in the film franchise came out! However, we can't have it be too much like the others, that wouldn't do well at all to bring in the monies. So what to do? Simple, set it in the same place as the first with characters very much like those found in the first, but this time IT'S A WESTERN! Didn't see that coming, did ya?

      blowing up his bunker left him broke, also for Decker, Burt chose perfection for the 'geographic isolation' but that oppertunity may have only been open to him because he inherited family owned land surrounding the old mine which probobly went bust in the 20's

    I don't get why people didn't like this prequel. The setting was well done, I like how they gave us a perspective of everyone's ancestor (especially Burt Gummer), we got to see what Graboids looked like before they grow into their adult size, and there were some good lines that came out of this (i.e. "You missed! With a cannon!"). I'm glad to see someone had something GOOD to say about the movie so thank you for this review.

    I think it's quite smart to set the movie in the distant past, when people was more vulnerable (+ old west is awesome), because every horror flick nowadays needs to explain why characters don't use cell phones or don't know what the zombie is. Plus, I don't feel that graboids belong to modern times.

    The graboid life cycle makes a lot of sense. The graboids being the main part of the cycle. Then they turn into shriekers to make as many as possible. Then the shriekers morph into ass blasters that can fly so they can spread the eggs as far as they can. Then it starts all over again

    • @kurvos
      @kurvos 9 років тому +1

      +Lore Dragon Okay, here's a crazy question then... why don't they turn into flying "ass-blasters" right away after being graboids? You can "make as many as possible" out of them too without the shriekers... in fact, the shriekers are a painfully pointless stage of the life cycle.

    • @TwisterWinds
      @TwisterWinds 9 років тому +5

      +kurvos they are very important, being a-sexual they can reproduce quickly and in vast numbers (like let's say 1-2, 2-4, 4-8 and so on and in a couple of hours they shied their skin and ass blaster blitzkrieg) without being killed a few thousand ass-blasters take off and spread out quickly, ensuring the species flourishes. So in a way, a better species then the xenomorph. (God saying that puts a bad taste in my mouth)

    • @kurvos
      @kurvos 9 років тому

      ***** ... right, so, why can't the ass blasters be the ones asexually reproduce quickly? Wouldn't that make more sense? Again, no, the shriekers are absolutely pointless.

    • @randomusernameCallin
      @randomusernameCallin 9 років тому +8

      +kurvos What if the shriekers are the cocoon stage?
      I think it is a bit of a jump form underground creature to flying.

    • @TwisterWinds
      @TwisterWinds 9 років тому +3

      +randomusernameCallin you bring up a good point. Another is that once they become assblasters they loose the ability to reproduce (menopause) and only have the ability to ensure survival by flying to a new location and perhaps they burro into the ground and lay become decomposed since it takes a few million years to hatch.

    After rewatching this on Syfy just now, I suddenly had an epiphany. It came to me during the Gattling Gun Scene...
    I...honestly would've enjoyed a Sequel to the Legend Begins, once again set in the Old West. Of the current movies, the Old West is actually the only one to feature the Gummer character undergoing personal growth, and all of the characters in the town are easily likable.
    And since Perfection Valley seems to be a breeding ground for the Graboids, with two more sets of them popping up more than 100 years later, who is to say there aren't MORE Graboid nests just buried out there, waiting to be discovered.
    I'd be interested in seeing how the Wild-West Perfection and its citizenry deal with a Shrieker incursion, or maybe even the Ass Blasters.
    Ultimately, I feel like the Legend Begins happened as a means of keeping the franchise fresh, when Burt could virtually kill any form of the Graboid's life cycle with any number of weapons at his disposal. Putting the characters in the Old West and stripping any knowledge of the species from them, coupled with the limited availability of weapons and adequate firepower to combat the creatures, made for an interesting idea. We didn't get past the Graboid Life-cycle in this movie, because it established just how hard it was for these Frontiersmen to kill them. I feel like with another sequel set during this time, would ultimately accomplish the same thing; maybe this time, they are prepared to deal with Shriekers due to the gattling gun, but are still outmatched due to sheer numbers.

      While that would've been cool, it would've also roundhouse kicked the timeline and continuity. If Graboids kept showing up over and over again, then there would be no reason for the people of Perfection to keep quiet about it.

      A long time ago in a galaxy far far away a very old and large space graboid nearly ate the Millenium Falcon. Eventually, an incident happened which sent the asteroid containing said creature hurtling across space; probably some alien named Gurt Bummer trying to blow it up or something. The asteroid killed a significant amount of the life on Earth at the time when it hit, burning up the space graboid... but deep inside the asteroid... some of the eggs... SURVIVED. The End. Its the perfect prequel that you never even knew you wanted to see. You're welcome.

      John Danforth I'm sad now. The devs for Friday the 13th The Game teased Jason X being added. It was back when the Virtual Cabin update was released. The virtual cabin has lots of lore and behind the scenes goodies as well as puzzles and being in first person contrary to the main games 3rd person pov. Upon beating it, that is to say complete all the puzzles and explore everywhere, you will find a door that transports you to the ship where Jason X takes place. Jason X appears and kills you shortly after. You then recieve the following message "Congratulations, you have unlocked Jason X and the Grendel map when it gets added later" or something to that effect. It was never added. I can only assume there was trouble with copyright issues. Also questioning why they haven't released Savini's Jason for those of us who didn't pre-order (console) or backed the kickstarter (pc). I was so looking forward to Jason X and the Grendel spaceship.

      The "ton of explosive" was/were stockpiled over years of preppings in the first Tremors, then, in 2, the truckload of pure Michael Baying" was a lended/given surplus from the "mehican military", ( movie logic, give it to the crazed, non-native civilian instead of doing it). Now, since the divorce means: "wife brought half, then took and went", that do muddy up the water a bit too much to try and calculate his actual wealth... Buuut, yeah, without being rich, good frickin luck! First, you'd need, as a "cash only" preper, to ALWAYS have some form of liquid payment, basically A: "money no credit" and
      B: "accumulated surplus of past income", also known as "cash" and "riches", to create an underground shelter, then another, followed by 'nother and in each, store a entire, genuine: "stockpile". Oh, yeah! Let's not ever forget that being a true prepper isn't like being a normal "gun entousiast", so then we gotta mention he'd need the cash/liquid payment just for first buying and then, also training/practicing with each firearms, combined with aquiring multiple means of esc, (vehicular transportation(s), with secondary and tertiary options or "backups". As for final yet basically essentials worth the mentionin': just count a primary housing, (ye ol' house),as safe living location and at least one extra for esc, ( underground safehouse/bunker). Gummer is a prepper worth his salt, so he's not/never was "poor" in any case, moment or form until at minimum the beginning of the fourth movie and there's that whole "we don't get to see" period between the 3rd and fifth sequel of Tremors... Which are separated with a time-span of years.
      Ps: Justifying: Gummer, in the second, had a fair claim to the primed "pay for kill", counting a 25000$ price for all/each killed Graboid and some unknown payment for the Shriekers, (they did waste ALL their asses!), that alone would provide whatever income needed for the guy's prepping. So yeah, guy's "family owned riches" could've been used or "shared" with his wife/ prepper-helper, then, by the time, (six years later), the second Tremors begins, the timing is juuust right to explain the loan/gift of military-grade explosive, since, seriously, he's NOT crossing the border with that entire truck full off up-to-a-ton of "jihadist Christmas decorations", North to South or vice-versa! Now for the fifth Tremors, ol' Gummer has become a caricature of self and he's more "old Rambo" than "LMOE-prepper", (last man on Earth), what with his life as a "retired militarish dude" schtick, the "ba(ldy)chelor that won't party" rather than a true-grit survivalist. I'm sincerely loving all Gummer representations, but you can't bee Bear Grill, filming yourself doing yer stuff and expect to be still the: "paranoid, Doomsday prepper", that's for sure, mother-humper!

    Burt did kinda have wealth. Well used to. In the first episode of the Tremors TV series, he mentioned that he couldn't get insurance due to Perfection being high risk. His back up being a bunch of silver bars he had in his bunker. Which is an obvious call to Tremors 4 and Hiram. But when he blew the bunker up after an Ass Blaster invaded it, he was instantly broke.

    It looks like the history of graboids in Perfection and the world is:
    -Precambrian/cambrian times, worldwide distribution and numerous.
    -BC and pre european coloniser times: graboids hatch from eggs and appear in the mountains and land around perfection, as well as other areas in the mid west, these encounters with people are bloody, violent and cause them to be viewed as mythical monsters from the underworld, and likely prevent the graboids from continuing to be active for long as likely either graboids, or shriekers are killed before they can multiply further and hatch eggs, though some are likely laid.
    -this film late 1800's, a clutch of eggs hatch, causing the birth of graboids, they cause the town to all but vanish and leave, taking a month to become full adults, all are killed thus keeping eggs from ever being laid.
    -Tremors 1( 1990's): the graboids hatch from another long dormant eggs, existing off of any fare they can until two labourers discover them and alert others, all are killed in graboid stages.
    -Tremors 2( later 1990's/early 2000's): a new clutch hatches in northern mexico, allowing for the first time since the days the indigenous american tribes encountered them, shriekers to appear, all are killed.
    -Tremors 3( 2000's): another clutch hatches again in Perfection, likely as the mountain and valley of perfection isolated them and may have allowed more eggs to be laid without being killed in graboid stage. This time ass blasters are allowed to develop, the final stage, however again all but 1 graboid el blanco who is sterile are killed, and no eggs are laid, the area becomes a reserve for graboids.
    Tremors tv series( late 2000's): el blanco continues to thrive, as perfection continues as a reserve offering tourism, along the way other shriekers, graboids and even the captured ass blaster become active in and around perfection area.
    Tremors 5:(2010's) Graboids hatch in africa, evolving into the next two stages being killed, Burt gummer kills them.
    Tremors 6: (late 2010's early 2020's) graboids hatch in the arctic circle, also sometime between the tv series and now el blanco dies, the town dissapears except for burt and jodie chang moves out, leaving nothing but relics of perfection, a dying town finally dead.

      I have not yet seen Tremors 5. I know only that it has Jamie Kennedy in it, and it appears that all the practical effects for the creatures got swapped out for crappy Sci-Fi Channel Original-level CGI effects. Hopefully my "crappy movie detector" is faulty again and I will be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not really all that optimistic right now.
