In defense of this Julien guy I think what's going on is he's trying to emphasize the stressed syllables. In Brazilian Portuguese, there is a dilect called Caipira which tends to pronounce the LH (which is equivalent to this GL sound in Italian) as Y, for example:
Milho ("Corn") [it would sounds like "migliu" in Italian] is pronounced as "Míiu" or "Miyu" in this dialect.
Filho ("Son") and Filha ("Daughter") is pronounced like "figliu" and "figliu", but they are pronounced as fiu or fiyu and fia or fiya in Caipira dialect.

But aren’t Spaghetti Bolognese normally called spaghetti al ragu in italy? (And i think they’re even made without tomato sauce?)

Yeah, but spaghetti aren't the most typical type of pasta to be used with ragù, and ragù is sometimes specified to be "alla bolognese" because in theory it could be done otherwise

@@bacicinvatteneacareminds me of when a waiter refused to serve me spaghetti all'arrabiata. He even started to draw a picture how the sauce is supposed to enter the penne and that this doesn't work with spaghetti...

I would recommend The Pasta Queen for anyone interested in Italian food and learning proper pronunciation of spaghetti, aglio e olio, etc…
You can watch her cook pasta, she is easy on the eyes, she is funny and most importantly she is Italian so she knows how to pronounce things properly. 😄

I came across this guy pronouncing other languages wrong.
Pretty sure I used this joke here already, but he's a serious polyclot
Also calling your mom and attacking her straight away with aboopity bapita, no warnings, the poor lady 😂
Edit: looked further into it, the guy makes 20 videos a day, the quality is expectedly terrible but UA-cam loves people who pump shit in huge quantities so he often comes up when you search for pronunciations.
Hearing him butcher the languages I know, it's like a sick form of entertainment

I think it's best for all us foreigners not to overdo any pronunciation, however correct or wrong it may be. Better to sound a foreigner than to sound ridiculous.

What really grinds my gears about that channel is the way he makes an entire video about one word or phrase. He pads five seconds of (incorrect) content to over 30.

The sad thing is...people in France actually believe that Italians sound like Super Mario ...whenever they try to pronounce Italian words they over-exaggerate the stressed syllable and sound extremely awkward

Now I kind of want to make a UA-cam channel teaching people to pronounce English with completely made up pronunciations. Maybe with a thick, thick New York accent. And go completely over the top so it's obvious that I'm just having fun with it.
