I watched it recently for the first time, having huge expectations, and I was horribly disappointed. A lot of characters felt miscast, the pacing of the movie was too slow for half of the time, the dialogues taking place had little weight or depth, and just generally, the humor felt like was tailor-made for 13 yr olds. I kept waiting for the big funny thing to happen, and it never did. When JoBlo hinted that there hadn't been a comedy movie as good as Tropic Thunder since it released, it really took me by surprise. There's tons of movies that are funnier than this movie. Heck, even some non-comedy movies have been funnier than this one. Just my two cents..
He wrote and directed The Cable Guy all back in 96'! He also wrote+directed and produced "Tropic Thunder" which probably was my most hilarious cinematic experience I ever witnessed lol
Tropic thunder is the most cringe , deflated humor I personally have ever been through. I'm moving outta state just to not know the people I sat through that with.
I love Ben Stiller, and like that he's still active in show business, and frequently shares the screen with Owen Wilson, who has a similar comedic style.

Ben Stiller is definitely the kind of guy who will come back and have some big hit TV show or streaming show I should say. He is an extremely talented actor comedian and director. Nobody can stay on top their entire career and he's had some pretty good ups and downs already. I don't think we've seen the last of Ben.
I think he doesnt need so many new movies, his latest roles in Licorice Pizza & Hubie halloween were great and he has already a legendary career full of phenomenal comedies, excellent underrated movies, forgotten flicks and great serious roles
Severance is excellent. I was watching the first episode and really struck by the direction and cinematography, only to see Ben Stiller's name pop up in the credits! The whole series is great, but his episodes make them pop just that much more. I didn't know about his cancer diagnosis, I'm really glad to hear he's doing well now!
I actually really enjoyed his more serious roles like The meyerowitz Stories, Walter Mitty, While we're young, Permanent Midnight & Reality bites.... All really excellent movies that are so underrated

There’s something about Mary, mystery men and even the secret life of Walter Mitty are some of my favorites from him but somedays gross out gags in big Hollywood comedies get tiring after a while lol. 1992's The Ben Stiller Show was my first intro to Stiller. Absolutely f**king hilarious show. My big brother and I loved it. Bob Odenkirk was spectacular in that show as well.
As a Gen X'er, I loved the film "Reality Bites." And I've been a Stiller fan ever since. From "Zoolander" to "Topic Thunder," "Dodgeball" to "Something About Mary," "Meet the Parents" and even his superb cameo in "Happy Gilmore" the man has created some of the biggest laughs of our time.
I was lucky enough to be an extra in the Ben Stiller movie "The Marc Piece Experience." I say a few rows behind him in the theater climax. He was very nice.

Yes, you said it right. He's a genius. But, like any comic actor, he is often considered a lower caste or a pariah compared to actors who have made great dramatic movies like Kevin Costner and Leonardo DiCaprio. In my opinion, comedy actors should be awarded twice as much as other kinds of actors because it's simple to make people cry, but very, very hard to make them laugh. You need extreme talent and ability to do so. And I'm saying this as a former movie director, artist, and arts expert.
I thought starsky and hutch was a flop but then I remembered it was the " Chips" remake that flopped. There was so many of these damn copycat movies in the early 2000s. They were on a roll were they basically made the same movie over and over with the same rotation of actors. It's like they had a deck of comedic actors and a deck of scenarios and randomly shuffled them. You could make one of these movies do easy. Let's get one of the Wilson's and somebody from SNL and any random character actor Christopher Walken, Steve Buscemi etc and put them in a college, or fast food or retail, or something to do with high society or even combine and have the main character be a man-child son of a fast food chain magnate that for some reason has to go back to college or do community service at a school. That movie has been made like 3 times at least
Never realized he directed so much, and his ability to just fall into any role is quite amazing. He never really feels like a one note actor, his range is crazy impressive.
best thing about Stiller is that he tries different things. He doesn't just sit in his comfort zone and churn out constant Dodge Ball's or similar. He has huge range as an actor and director and he likes to flex those muscles and explore genres.
Tropic Thunder is my favorite movie of all time, but I'd like to see him and Vince Vaughn work together on screen again, something about The Watch has always stuck with me and I can't really tell what it is, which means it's probably just good comedy chemistry

Let's get one of the Wilson's and somebody from SNL and any random character actor Christopher Walken, Steve Buscemi etc and put them in a college, or fast food or retail, or something to do with high society or even combine and have the main character be a man-child son of a fast food chain magnate that for some reason has to go back to college or do community service at a school. That movie has been made like 3 times at least
Never realized he directed so much, and his ability to just fall into any role is quite amazing. He never really feels like a one note actor, his range is crazy impressive.
best thing about Stiller is that he tries different things. He doesn't just sit in his comfort zone and churn out constant Dodge Ball's or similar. He has huge range as an actor and director and he likes to flex those muscles and explore genres.
His part in Happy Gilmore is still one of the hardest times i laughed watching a movie

Tropic Thunder is my favorite movie of all time, but I'd like to see him and Vince Vaughn work together on screen again, something about The Watch has always stuck with me and I can't really tell what it is, which means it's probably just good comedy chemistry
