I Bolted a Real Steering Wheel to My Thrustmaster TMX?!? | Xbox Wheel Setup

- This is my wheel setup, I cut up my wheel and got creative with how I installed a real steering wheel onto my Thrustmaster TMX. Check my first post on my Instagram, link below, to see how I did it.
There is another way to install a real steering wheel onto your Thrustmaster TMX using an adapter and you’ll be able to keep the oem TMX wheel intact. Let me know I’m the comments if you’d like me to go over this method.

Love my modded TMX and i love seeing others mod theirs even more. I have a 3d printed 6-bolt adapter from Lithuania with a OMP wheel. The only issue with the TMX is if you do this you lose all button functionality because theyre built into the OG wheel. When you remove the OG wheel the coiled up steering wheel controls wire that goes to the back of it is literally just a plug that clicks and locks in so you can open the OG wheel and just unplug it. I then took that wire and opened the wheel base and drilled a hole in the back next to the power, pedal and shifter wires for it to come out then i bought a cheapo black plastic "electronics project" box to mount to the side of my wheel stand drilled a hole in the back and routed the steering wheel controls wire through it. I cut off the actual steering wheel ring from the middle of the OG TMX wheel and mounted it to the front of the plastic box and plugged it in. I also wired up the B button while i had it opened so the B button still works on the control panel but it also has a wire with a deans plug that goes to a custom e brake i made out of a real hydro ebrake. I also have the TH8A shifter with some 3D printed parts from australia in it to make it actually feel like its clicking into each gear plus a shifter rod length set from russia.

Awesome set up bro when you drilled you 4 wheel mount holes did you mount it in front of the mother board or did you drill through the mother board only asking as love you engineering and I'm so doing this to mine today
Thanks man 🔥 i drilled through the face of the original wheel and used bolts/nuts to bolt the steering wheel to the face of the tmx wheel. The circuit board behind the face of the tmx wheel is removable, so I removed it and bolted the steering wheel to the tmx then reinstalled the circuit board back to the wheel

lol as janky as this shit looks, this is actually exactly what i'm about to do, i went looking through a bunch of videos, and was looking for someone who did this exact thing.. swap the wheel but retain the paddle shifters and buttons. good job!

I know this is from two years ago, but would you recommend doing this to a TMX wheel? Did it make the forced feed back feel worse?
Yes I recommend it. I did this to both my t150 and tmx. Adding a real steering wheel makes it feel mire natural in your hands and it gives you leverage over the ffb so you’ll have to turn up the ffb in the game if you want the wherl to feel just as firm as it did with the small wheel

Deciding on what to buy for christmas im choosing between a logitech g920 or a thustmaster tmx. What would you recommend i get?
I never tried the g920, I’ve always had the thrustmaster t150 and tmx so I recommended the tmx
Hey bro I have had both I started on a g920 and I am now on the tmx pro the tmx range fell and over all use is heaps better the the feel on the g920
But when feedback settings are done right both can be excellent wheels to use hope this helps you with the hard decision ahead hahaha

I'm planning to buy one for thrustmaster t300rs
I have no idea but the thrustmaster t300rs is a great wheel for just about every game
I think t300rs should handle custom steering wheel because default wheel is already pretty heavy

I can see the TMX in PC FH5, but can not show TMX in Wheel setting, why ?.
