Tape will only work so long with that parking brake connector. The second you get some decent rain while driving you will get a parking brake failure. Ask me how I know.
Really enjoyed your well put video Mike! We have a 2014 P85+ that will need to get the front bearings replaced, u inspired me to do it myself :) do you have the link for the front hub bearings?
These are the ones I used for the front: www.ebay.com/itm/314039044906?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=RGgc_m9cTWO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=wd61b5SvTMO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@ thanks I got a 14 that I picked up this year just been catching up on some of that suspension maintenance myself. Thanks for the videos, hadn’t seen good ones on the hubs yet. I had to cut the 2 front bolts for the front control arms. I would like to trade in the supercharging to a new Y if they offer that promotion this Q4 again, need more range. You have this model S and model Ys too?
I bought a used 2015 Tesla Model S 85D w/109k miles in September 2023 (still has lifetime free supercharging.) It came from a harsh climate. Over the last couple of weeks I paid $5,000 to replace the front and rear rotors and calipers (including break pads), and both parking breaks calipers due to heavy rust and corrosion. What kind of maintenance routine would you recommend to prevent this from happening in the future?
Tesla's no maintenance narrative is sad. I am amazed when I do my annual maintenance on my Model 3, how many issues I find. Tesla's maintenance by time is completely wrong as some owners drive 10K per year and some drive 50k.
@@Myksgarage each nut needs to be tighten with specific force, called torque. If you applied too much you may damage bearing over time. you buy special wrench for circa 40$ and adjust that force as needed.
It amazes me how much you know about the mechanica
l part without any mechanical background.
Appreciate that, this part was not much different than other vehicles so it wasn’t too bad. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing your experience
Great job Mike!
Thanks buddy!
Hello. After done, It will necessary to align the direction? Thank you
Mine did not need an alignment afterwards

Do you have a link for the black lug nuts?
Here's the ones I used

@@Myksgarage Thank you 😁
I still recommend that you lubricate the slide pins of the brake pads with ceramic grease then you are less likely to corrode
Good tip!
How many miles were on this 2013 when you picked it up?
Did you have to replace any of the suspension parts as well?
157,000 miles on it when I got it. I need to replace some suspension parts as I'm getting clunking and clicking sounds

How much ft-lbs torque did you tighten the axle nuts to?
Like 280ft lbs

Pull the pads out once a year and grease them. That's what I plan on doing.
@@Myksgarage Right. Unfortunately, I don't have all the equipment to do that.
Breaks should last 120k miles, I am on second set now close to 240k. You are right, they rust like hell. I never lubricated them.
Yeah, mine was at 157,000 miles and on the original brakes, they were just rusted out
what is torx spec???
For the hub?
@@Myksgarage yes,
Link for hub???
I just order it on partsgeek.com

That's a good point!
no torx on hub nut??? by doing so you compromised life of the bearing...

Wd40 to lubricate?????😂 no good
🤷
I’m the first! 😊
