Good Day to you all. My name is Peter and I made this video with Prince back in the late 80s. I worked at Editel, which was one of the premier edit house in the day, he had shot all the footage at his place and showed up one Monday night with a box of tapes because he knew of my effects work. Remember this was before the computers and software of today, I had to layer each letter in the video one at a time. I enjoyed a healthy working relationship with him, a nice guy, incredibly talented. I still have other versions of the video with more messages in it but we felt we wouldn't get away with it as much as we did. I'm so glad this is available to all, thanks.
@Peter Beyt you were blessed to work with him..I know some others who have and they all speak highly of him..One word that is universally used to describe working with him is "Magic"
An absolute musical genius. My parents and especially my mum absolutely loved Prince and his records were always being played by her which made me a fan of his.

His musical output in the 80's was astounding. He was like a conveyor belt giving us one brilliant song after another. He released and album of new material each year with the exception of 1983 only because he was working on the eventual Purple Rain soundtrack and filming the movie. Wow!
@Perverted Alchemist I say early 80's to early 90's he couldn't be touched, when he went all Artist formerly Known as, he lost it musically. Still had some moments when he shone but they were far and few inbetween. Still was a fantastic live act though.
@@stevecheevers7337 He did lose anything musically.. he just decided to explore a wider range of styles.. a lot of which were not commercial .. especially in light of grunge and gangster rap all over the radio

The percussion & drum arrangements on this record is insane!!! I remember listening for the 1st time wondering wtf is going on here. It still has the same effect. I really love the kick, sooooo effective
Read in a book about Prince (written and published in the early 90’s) that what showed off the brilliance of Prince was in this song. They claim Prince sings and plays his guitar in one key, while the rest of his band play in a different key, but somehow it all comes together
Actually, Prince wrote several songs that sucked, the Under the Cherry Moon soundtrack being one. I also thought his music suffered when he became that symbol.
Prince wrote many, many duff songs. He was wildly inconsistent for much of his career, particularly after the early 90s. However, I'm not convinced that many Prince fans would rate the soundtrack to Under the Cherry Moon - Parade to everyone else - as anything other than amongst his best work. It's not his best album but it might be his most daring, and his most interesting.
@@Wordsareprayers He was inconsistent. He released dozens of albums and not all of them were great. Even when he was close to his peak, Graffiti Bridge, Diamonds and Pearls and maybe even Symbol - which i really, really like - would all have to be considered a little bit patchy. All contained elite Prince nonetheless and he was still capable of making startling music. He got significantly less compelling in the following years. I love Prince and consider him ro be as good as anyone at his best, but I was replying to someone who said that Prince never made a song that sucked. He did. He made loads of them. Even Prince's biggest fans would surely concede that Prince made more than his fair share of music that was underwhelming. I am not saying anything even vaguely controversial. I'm a big Prince fan for what it's worth.

Even though this wasn't considered one of his biggest hits, it's in my top 3 favorite Prince songs. That funk is undeniably infectious!
