@@azazel3670 Yes, it was based on a true story. Now, that doesn't mean that everything will be the same or true. Just as City of God. There are things invented, and things that truly happened. However even the stuff that was invented is just like reality, but it just wasn't exactly like the film shows.

That was the first movie in which i had seen Wagner moura Aka Pablo Escobar in. It is really great and his acting skills are top tier.
The problem in Brazil is that the same guys ('playboys') who complain about the brutality of the police force are the ones financing the drug lords. I am not saying that all police officers are honest, but fighting against the rich and the 'system' is difficult.

Bad ass movie of all time. For us brazilians this movie hits different because we know that this is, literally, our reality. Is actually the real deal how our BOPE is and operate in Rio, and the slums and favela are exactly like that. I don't know if for u (foreigns) the movie gives a "real deal" vibe, but for us, it gives and is a badass bcs we know that is exactly like that.
This movie represented reality in Rio de Janeiro so well that it's my go to recommendation if you want to understand Rio's situation.
Not forgetting about Elite Squad 2, ofc

The world is shocked when a war breaks out in Israel or Russia invades Ukraine, but this happens from time to time, here in Brazil the war is daily, decade after decade.
We voted for the comunist in years. That is the problem.
This is brutal. Each time I watch it again I see the more and more of it and how things don’t change without education and jobs.
Just so you know, that fire with the tires is a commom method used by them. It got famous after they murdered Tim Lopes this way, he was a journalist who was investigating Comando Vermelho.

Agora um comentário aqui pros br, se liguem que o cara só entendeu que o filme era no Brasil pq eles cantam no treinamento, isso pq já tinham falado Rio de Janeiro mil vezes no filme antes disso... A ignorância dos americanos sobre qualquer coisa fora dos EUA é impressionante, o ensino de geografia mesmo deve ter sido proibido por lá...
Minha irmã já estudou nos EUA e hoje mora na Inglaterra, e ela fala que lá nos EUA é piqui filme American Pae mesmo, a galera não tá nem aí, são todos com essa ideia de que a vida é só bebedeira e sexo, as aulas são piores que no Brasil, professor lá não tem moral algum, e lá é dividido entre os que querem e os que não querem nada, e a história e geografia só é ensinada de acordo com a visão deles, por exemplo: eles ensinam que quem ganhou a segunda guerra foi apenas os EUA, e não teve qualquer ajuda dos soviéticos, sendo que é o contrário, os soviéticos quando entraram na guerra a guerra mudou, e o partido nazista começou a tomar atitudes equivocadas. Mas enfim, os caras lá estão presos na realidade deles, por isso que quando eles saem de lá, são facilmente engolidos no resto do mundo, a guerra do Vietnã é um exemplo, oq tem de soldado Américano morto nas florestas daquele país não tá no gibi, tudo culpa da ignorância e prepotência.

I remember some of the events which actual happened, like the capt.'s son birth, some people take pictures officers, and said they are commemorating the drug lord death, but the capt. said in his defense that because his son birth. A lot of fuzz in the press, and the press trying to make the police officers as bad guys, as always. It is a fictional movie, but based in actual events. U should look the video "SÍRIA?? NÃO!!! AQUI É A UPP", it shows a little of the daily war in Rio.

17:00 it actually happens. This weekend a house in a poor neighborhood was raided by police "searching for drugs". It wasn't a dealers house or anything like it, they were just poor in a bad neighborhood.
The police shot the family dog wich was docile and was tied.
They killed the damns dog for nothing. So yeah, they're kinda right. They do shoot people and ask after.
Same thing happened with a black lawyer in front of his own house.

The thing is, the book is all about how the cops are corrupt or either just kill people to make rich people think that something is being done. Everybody that watches the movie have pretty much the opposite message. The book was wrote but an ex BOPE member talking about how they are trained to fight citizens like they do in a war without never being close to solve the problem.

One thing worth mention, is that at every site where ppl shot there, ppl would prob be hugging the children near the floor, a lot of ppl live in favelas in 2022 was 16million. do the second one!

Dude, the translation you got was very bad man. They lost a lot of words to make you understand better the movie, the good scenes and all the conversation they were having. This is one of the best action movies ever made. Watch Elite Squad 2, as good as the 1. Greets from Brrazil!
The greatest irony,
is that this film was produced with the intention of making the police the villain of the story. But with the reality of Brazil, the complete opposite happened, making people like the film due to the direct action of the police doing what they really have to do with criminals and this screws up the mind of the director who is from the extreme left and does not accept the "distortion of the message that he wanted to pass."
Não faz o menor sentido essa teoria. O Bope ajudou a fazer o filme, um ex capitão ajudou a fazer o roteiro. Já sei, o Padilha falou do seu polítivo de estimação e você inventou essa lorota na sua cabeça para justificar que nem todo mundo lambe a bola do Bolsonaro. Dizer que o Padilha é de extrema esquerda é burrice ou piada.

@@cassiodias1599 Não disse. Pimentel escreveu um livro (a elite da tropa) que foi em que o filme se baseou em nenhum momento do livro quanto do filme a ideia era depreciar o Bope. O padilha disse em alguns podcast que o Nascimento não era Heroi, mas daí dizer que o ideia era depreciar o Bope, só em grupos de bolsonarista retardados que eu ouvi essa maluquice. A milicaiada adorou o filme, se a ideia fosse depreciar, colocaria o Bope como vilão, e para qualquer idiota que viu o filme, dá para perceber que a força e a coragem do Bope é exaltada.

I've lived in Rio de Janeiro since I was born, here we have lots of parties and entertainment, but what happened in the film is all real, we have very well armed factions (TCP, CV, ADA) bandits... here you can't get into any favela and you have to be careful with robberies and operations (war) that even involve BOPE, hug from Brazil brother

There are many aspects to explain about the story that is based on real events x the movie x the social and political reality about this movie and the other City of God, they are two stories that occur in parallel and simultaneously, it shows the raw naked reality of the situation, there are several aspects about these stories to be TOLD to have a greater understanding of how it started as shown in the movie City of God, how it has been progressing until today and everything that revolves around it that ended up contaminating the whole country and the rest of the world with the trafficking of dro gas where it is a cancer in the WORLD society destroying families and ruining entire countries because it reaches the highest levels of corruption EVERYWHERE in society.

Amigo, o Brasil tem forças armadas e policiais pequenas. Quando treinamos tropas de choque, a rede tem a trama muito larga. Esse é o básico da dor que tropas como comandos, reconhecimento e guerra na selva passam. Isso é "ranger" para vcs, precisa ver o equivalente aos Delta ou "green beret" ou SEAL. Dor é o tema!
