I had a dog that was Chihuahua, Yorkie, and Jack Russle mixed, and let me tell you, if you want a dog filled with cuteness and rage. That is the type of dog to get.
My mother is on her fourth Yorkie. The current one loves her groomer, loves to be cuddled, loves people. She is known as "the wee traitor", "the pretend Yorkie", and "the weirdo" as the previous three varied between "only under duress" and "can't lay a hand on her". Yorkies generally hate to be cleaned or generally have their personal dignity affronted in any way
My brother's Yorkie was gentle and friendly with people, except, the postman. The instant the postman was sighted it was battle stations, until he went out of sight.
The most bad-tempered, badass dog in our rather large village, was a miniature Yorkie. The owners had to put a tight-knit chicken wire on the bottom of their gate, because she would come flying out of the house and bark & growl at anyone who was _walking past_ the house! If we were going in, we could pick her up and she'd be fine 😂.
I had a silkie x Maltese that would go wild; snarling, growling and barking at people on the other side of the wire screen door. Her standing up with her little snarling face pressed against the wire would quite terrify people - but as soon as we opened the door and they were able to pet her, all was good. It seems like it was was her way of expressing she was furious they were on the other side of the door and they should just come in (and pet her)
@@elfdragon1227 never knew it had a name 😄 A neighbour used to come over to pat the big dog over the side fence, the neighbour said that he (the big dog) was fine provided he started patting him straight away, otherwise he would “growl” at him, but I knew for this dog it wasn’t actually growling he would just moan in frustration/ pleading to be patted as he had the expectation of being patted, but my neighbour mistook it for growling. But the little one was really fully growling , lifting her lip and snarling, it was quite alarming to people. The pair together could cause people to nearly pass out with fear although she was very little she was alarming and you could kind of see people telling themselves it was okay as she was just a little dog; then hearing the commotion the big dog would calmly wander into the background and the sight of a big dog, although he was calm and quiet would tip them over the edge to be frightened 😁 poor visitors
"I completed his nails by having the cameraman hold him." LOL! I groom our 11-year-old Yorkie at home, and my husband has to cradle him with his feet in the air so I can trim his nails.
Wonder if we should've tried this with our last pitbull 😂. She was a nervous, runt of the litter. She hated having her paws touched and would politely pull them from you, tuck them back under herself, and then give this apologetic look like she's sorry for inconveniencing you 😅. Trimming her nails was always a battle, and sadly, I did cut too low a time or two, so that didn't help either. I began going to a vet, though, who always trimmed her claws and as the dog would become an immoveable stone when at the vet's, they were able to trim hers with zero issue. Yes, vet visits became my go-to for nail trims 😅. Otherwise, it took two people and in a house of adults with varying schedules, that was often too difficult to sync.
I wonder if Jimmy had his nails trimmed to short where the quick was nipped in prior grooming sessions. He's a good boy for the rest of his spa session. Fiesty little pup.
No he just wasn’t trained properly. You can tell because it wasn’t a fear reaction. It was a “I don’t like this so I’m going to react the only way I know how to get you to stop because I haven’t been taught otherwise” reaction lol.
Thats what happened to my yorkie. 1st groomer I held her and groomer got her quick 4x! Never took back. Shes 8 now and has had issues with nails since then
Jimmy! One of my fave videos! So glad they brought him to you. He’s so smart, now his trigger is identified, I bet he’ll be able to learn it’s ok to get his paws done. Feel bad for whatever happened to Jimmy to trigger this.
@natashaemerson4009 If any other breed I'd say "Yes. a trigger can be desensitized with time, patience and consistency" but a 🤬Yorkie! @@jeliarraI had a chihuahua growing up and OH MY GOD she was that exact way. Her vet used to joke that she was a piranha and we used to joke she was demon spawn
Honestly it could just easily be that he wasn't desensitized to nail trimming as a pup! It's a really important thing to do as many dogs don't like having their paws touched. People- not necessarily the owner in this case, mind- often think it's not important to do with smaller dogs because they "can't hurt you". But of course, it can hurt them- being stressed like this isn't great on a dog, or it's little heart. And as Jimmy proves, they CAN do damage if they feel they need to! I have a 10 lb chi, and I'm sure her bite would hurt if she were biting for fear!
@betsyjohnson9699 Yes, that's our Chihuahua Lily. I call her demon dog, yet she is oh so sweet, too.💜 😆 One minute she is cuddling with you the next she is snapping at your ankles because she thinks you're going to step on her. ( You aren't even close to her little bed) SMH Oh Lily 💜

She was supposed to be my wife's dog (I was NEVER a fan of small dogs, hated 'em), but the second she brought her home I fell in love and apparently so did Luna 😂 So... I guess she ended up a daddy's girl instead 😭 The amount of patience you have is astounding. Every time I watch one of your videos I'm always blown away. After watching Vanessa's channel, I've learned that training pets to be comfortable with groomers & vets is very important for their safety as well as the professionals. 😊

I’m from Bradford West Yorkshire England and here these dogs are very popular with elderly people who need a companion not my favorite dogs but my neighbors is good at keeping the rats/mice away so there’s that 👍
You treated Jimmy with such compassion - poor little man! So many times Groomers just see a job to be done but you work to make the Groomee feel like they have some autonomy and that it doesn’t have to be torture.
I think that your gentle firmness with this dog, your preparedness to take him on with his aggression having put him out from other groomers, and how willingly you included his owner, are lessons for all of us to be thoughtful and kind no matter what is being faced. Thank you
Bless your heart…you were so sweet and kind with him and I think it made him really try to be good but he must have just been really scared from a past experience. 😓
i have one of these small (big 😂) dogs! my Griffey is about 7 years old and he has what i affectionately call little dog syndrome. he may be 8lbs but all of that 8lbs will reign on you like a fire from hell 😂
Wow is he quick! It looks so incongruous with those sweet eyes, floofy hair, and cuter than anything face then the muzzle on. But definitely very much needed. Great Job Vanessa, you can tell how much you like him, and the breed.
I’m so glad we got to see your work with him - work I’m sure you do with many of your clients - to get them past their triggers and past trauma. Thank you. Your compassion is inspiring.

My mum had one. It used to think it was a sheep dog. And with 2 colleagues and 2 Jack Russell terriers to back her up. She was the biggest Dogger the lot.
I have an identical Yorkshire terrier who loves baths and hates nail trimming. She is 15 years old and she will stand in the sink during her bath without moving an inch. You did an excellent job with Jimmie as Yorkies need reassurances. My Sassy is stubborn also with some things and I never force her because she won’t ever back down. ❤❤❤😊😊
As someone who has a dog who's part Yorkie, I can definitely say that having a Yorkie or Yorkie mix is not for the faint of heart. Don't get me wrong, Yorkies are super cute but between their incredible intelligence, their stubbornness, and their fighting spirit they can be quite the handful.
The yorkies in my family are sweet babies. My childhood dog was a yorkie schnauzer mix who just wanted to be in your lap and steal your food. My sister's yorkie is a little old lady with not many thoughts in her head.
You made him look fabulous. Definitely something has gone wrong for him before with having his nails clipped. You showed us how fast you can be in not being bitten. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
He is a spitfire. Hysterical. Aww Jimmy is a bit scrappy and rough despite his small size. Very cute - his nails are definitely triggers and he moved so fast it scared me just watching.
My Mom owned 3 yorkies (different times). She personally groomed all of them and was experienced enough to know how not to hurt them. One of them always acted like they were being actively murdered when she washed, combed, and clipped them. It was really funny watching it, because no matter how much they acting like they were dying, my Mom didn't stop and would scold them for being over-the-top instead 😂 Not a single Yorkie was like the other, they all had strikingly different personalities. So no matter what you're experience is with one, don't worry, there 10 other ones out there with a completely different personality.
Jimmy punches well beyond his weight. Adorable and affectionate when he is at his best, an absolute terror when he is not. You handled him well, but it sounds like we will not see Jimmy again.
The fact he is so sensitive about his nails makes me wonder if a groomer accidentally cut them too short, or wasn’t careful how they handled him, and it left Jimmy very afraid of having his nails touched. Bc it kind of reminded me of one of my first visits to a dentist- idk if the tech was new/inexperienced, in a hurry, or just plain mean, but when they were using that metal pick they have for cleaning around the gum line, man did they stab and poke and practically slice at me. I’m still afraid of that thing to this day, even though every other time the techs have been very gentle and skilled. Hopefully Jimmy can be desensitized so that way he’s no longer so stressed about his nails.
@@topasu9454 Bc animals are often more human than we give them credit for. Also, god forbid we relate to another living creature. Also, it makes sense. Why else would a dog react That aggressively. I’m not saying there aren’t other reasons, but it seems plausible.
I dread to think what hapened to trigger such paw-induced rage. Still, an adorable little terror. I wonder, what is up with his coat. The yorkies I encounter all have pretty thick hair, the rare exception being those looking like seniors. Vanessa, your reflexes are out of this world.
Despite his strong opposition, you gave him a wonderful haircut and he looks like a handsome little man.
And he is SO going to dive into a bag of wet, juicy trash as soon as you turn your back.

You treated Jimmy with such compassion - poor little man! So many times Groomers just see a job to be done but you work to make the Groomee feel like they have some autonomy and that it doesn’t have to be torture.
Once again, a wonderful job and Jimmy is a handsome little dude! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The care and patience she showed him were incredible 🥺. girl with the dogs, you’re really awesome 🤗🤗
I think that your gentle firmness with this dog, your preparedness to take him on with his aggression having put him out from other groomers, and how willingly you included his owner, are lessons for all of us to be thoughtful and kind no matter what is being faced. Thank you
The smaller the dog, the bigger the attitude! 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Always.
Agree - my miniature wirehaired dachshund is such a drama queen - especially if you go anywhere near his Paws!
Meanwhile huskies:
We had the weirdest Yorkie, an absolute unit that just wanted to sleep constantly.
Memories ❤
I had one for 17 years and I have a puppy. They are too damn smart and independent. Love them so much.
4:20 He looks so adorable when his ears go up. Vanessa did a good job with him
Oh Jimmy you're so cute 🥰
Just a silly little man 😂
Bless your soul for your amazing work!!❤❤❤
A breed with Lightening reflexes! Brave work by the young Lady 🎉
He looks so handsome when you finished!! Your soft voice really calms him down. He is definitely not paw friendly.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
The Jittery Jimmy is a sweet and feisty old boy. 💚💚
You were super gentle with him!!! I love that so much! You're an amazing groomer with how you handle all your clients.
Bless your heart…you were so sweet and kind with him and I think it made him really try to be good but he must have just been really scared from a past experience. 😓
Vanessa, you are a saint! Jimmy looks adorable, and you came out unscathed. It’s a win-win! 💙
Great job. His hair reminds me of a Cairn terrier.
Love your nails on this video 😊. When I saw him go for them I jumped when I saw it. I'm glad you're fine, and Jimmy was able to complete his groom.
You are so patient, kind, and loving to Jimmy. You are a spectacular groomer.😊
You are so patient with him. Thanks so much. I love your videos.
What an ADORABLE 🤩 lil "terror"! 😩
What a beautiful job. He is adorable. Thank you for sharing. God Bless.
i have one of these small (big 😂) dogs! my Griffey is about 7 years old and he has what i affectionately call little dog syndrome. he may be 8lbs but all of that 8lbs will reign on you like a fire from hell 😂
Wow is he quick! It looks so incongruous with those sweet eyes, floofy hair, and cuter than anything face then the muzzle on. But definitely very much needed. Great Job Vanessa, you can tell how much you like him, and the breed.
And as usual you did an awesome job despite his reactivness ❤
I’m so glad we got to see your work with him - work I’m sure you do with many of your clients - to get them past their triggers and past trauma. Thank you. Your compassion is inspiring.
Holy shit your reflexes are _insane._ I know it must be a learned trait by now but, man, that’s impressive…
You are so patient and loving with the fur babies.
He's very focused on you when you're doing his face. But those growls, he's ready to take on a bear !
It really did seem like for most of it he was trying to be good! And your reflexes: second to none!
I had a yorkie for a while and he was mistreated so he had some psychological problems due to a crack in the skull, but he was so sweet and so energetic, I'll miss him
I am always in awe of you guys who take care and love broken dogs! I couldn't - too hard. Then there's those others who are annoyed since they should be put down - failing to understand the complex emotions between a human and their babies.
@@dopaminey9946 our ant had bought him and she had a bunch of kids in her house so they mistreated him a lot, so we decided to adopt him, lots of vet trips, but it was so worth it, he was the most lovely thing ever! I understand why someone wouldn't want that though, specially somewhere where medical care in general isn't affordable. But I can assure you foster dogs are some of the best dogs you could have
Ahhhchewoooowhawha🐾🐾🫶🏼🦴. Killer attitude ❤. He’s a sweet guy🐾🐾, just too much coffee….💋💋💋💋💋
Thanks for being so kind and helpful to his family. 🐾🐾💋
It’s crazy how you can do this, I wouldn’t even get close to that dog!
Girl!!! You are just amazing 🤩!!!!
Love your technique and your fantastic attitude to complete the most tricky of dogs!
I’m in awe of your work!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
My mum had one.
Looks like no hard feelings or grudges from either party :D
Your patience never ceases to amaze me. That's definitely a God given talent.
A very cute little terror ❤.
Jimmy is quick and bit testy but so cute. His tail wag after by the door and thumbnail OMG! 😂
What a little beast!!! He looked great after his haircut. I enjoy your videos, so much.
He's the cutest feistiest spicy chicken nugget ever! 😻😻😻
He is a spitfire. Hysterical. Aww Jimmy is a bit scrappy and rough despite his small size. Very cute - his nails are definitely triggers and he moved so fast it scared me just watching.
My former neighbor had a chubby Yorkie named Killer. 😂
He would waddle all the way to our house and say hi. I hope he's doing well. ❤
Ha ha oh the yorkie❤😊 Glad mine is docile, he hates it, but never bites😊 Jimmy ended up lokking so nice❤
Jittery? I call that outright skittish, with a potential bite to boot! I say Jimmy did pretty good overall. ❤
👍 vous avez beaucoup de talent! Bravo pour votre détermination et votre patience 👏
Same reactions as my Chorkie used to do!!!, you did a great job!!!
Jimmy punches well beyond his weight. Adorable and affectionate when he is at his best, an absolute terror when he is not. You handled him well, but it sounds like we will not see Jimmy again.
Reminds me SO MUCH of my late Yorkie Toby. Best dog I ever had.
Hopefully Jimmy can be desensitized so that way he’s no longer so stressed about his nails.
why does everyone think it has to be trauma? maybe he just doesn't like being touched there. stop humanizing animals and projecting onto them.
@@topasu9454 Bc animals are often more human than we give them credit for. Also, god forbid we relate to another living creature. Also, it makes sense. Why else would a dog react That aggressively. I’m not saying there aren’t other reasons, but it seems plausible.
@@topasu9454why are you sensitive?
Poor Jimmy. He did pretty great, all things considered. You did a great job on him. ❤
Man you have to have terrific reflexes to be a dog groomer!! 🥵🥵
Love this dog. He knows what he likes. Then you get a little cuddle at the end.
Its interesting how he let his pows to be washed and dried, but not cut
That usually means that a dog has had a bad experience with cutting the hair/nails on their paws in the past from what I have experienced and read.
I dread to think what hapened to trigger such paw-induced rage. Still, an adorable little terror. I wonder, what is up with his coat. The yorkies I encounter all have pretty thick hair, the rare exception being those looking like seniors.
Vanessa, your reflexes are out of this world.
Evil gremlin >:)
He seems like a very happy guy other than getting his nails cut. Oh those ears! I love 'em!
