I watched this line up live in Belgrade in 2003. Joe Gooch is an outstanding guitarist and was a successful replacement for Alvin Lee. It is a great pity that they did not manage to stay together.

Saw them during my holiday this year (2012) in Croatia, next to our campsite, What a chance! they were great and the camping public liked it. the guys seemed to have fun! Before that I saw them somewhere in early 90 with Alvin Lee. Keep on rocking you guys!
Quel groupe ! Toujours aussi excellent malgré la disparition d' Alvin Lee. Ce jeune guitariste est génial. Mais personne ne peut remplacer le meilleur guitariste qu'était Alvin Lee.
to all of you complaining "it's not Alvin Lee" wake up ! Alvin Lee died in 2013 and left the band in 2003 ! It's Ten Years After (Mk II) (2003-2014): Joe Gooch: guitar, vocals (born in 1977) (TYA: 2003>2014) Leo Lyons: bass (born in 1943) (TYA: 1966>2014) Chick Churchill: keyboards (born in 1946) (TYA: 1966>present) Ric Lee: drums (born in 1945) (TYA: 1966>present) since 2014 the lineup has changed Colin Hodgkinson (Whitesnake, Jon Lord, Spencer Davis Group) (born in 1945) has replaced Leo Lyons on bass Marcus Bonfanti, a true killer has replaced Joe Gooch (Marcus is born cca 1975) . this new lineup is great too. Ten Years After is Ten Years After no matter who are in it! Chick and Ric are in the band since 1966 !!! now Leo is playing with Joe Gooch in a power trio they formed called Hundred Seventy Split, which i recommend too !!! these cats don't need Alvin to be called Ten Years After! i mean: AC/DC played without Bon Scott from 1980. the Rolling Stones played without Brian Jones from 1969. etc... c'mon guys: here we got Chick, Ric and Leo (TYA since 1966) ! they are history just like Alvin ! so , yes it's not Alvin !!! Alvin had his solo carrer from 1973 (even before Positive Vibrations by TYA back in 1974) sorry but i hate people who say "the replacer of" ...they are Ten Years After ! enjoy! for the Love of Chick, Ric & Leo ! moreover for Chick & Ric whom in 2016 are in the third and actual lineup ! 50 years of TYA !!! isn't it enough for you guys ? :)
Alvin and Leo never could see eye to eye. To bad, because there's songs, especially from Crickenwood Green album that are every part TYA, that Alvin could never incorporate later in his reunions with TYA. Alvin was the star, no doubt. "Big Red", that legendary guitar, remains in LLoyd's of London. Rest in peace, brother.
Man, some people are down on my boy, Joey Gooch. Well, if you didn't like Joe in TYA, don't worry, he and Leo started their own band Hundred Seventy Split (lame name IMO). It is silly to say Joe can't play but Hundred Seventy Split is no great success. Fact is, it is hard to start a blues act these days and have any success even having the great Leo Lyons involved. If you can move 5000 albums that is a big deal in the current climate. Anyway, I saw Joe live with TYA several years back and the guy was great. He can play, no doubt, but people don't usually embrace the next man in after a legend (A Lee) whether that legend be a musician, a politician or a ball player. Now, TYA is still going on with a lesser guitar/singer IMO. Hell, I really enjoyed hearing somebody play Alvin's great catalog was some level of virtuosity. And Joe did it with style adding a few wrinkles (e.g., sweep picking) that Alvin didn't used but keeping the general A Lee vibe . Hey, I think that Alvin was one of the greatest players in the early history of blues rock. I loved him but see no reason to knock Joe for having attempted to fill his shoes.
Let's be optimistic ... Alvin was Alvin .. I love a good guitar ...especially young guitar players ... even Alvin was young once .. and compared it to bb king ..
I've been a TYA fan since late 60's and I have no problem with Joe's playing, or vocals, the band is tight and sounds great. Alvin Lee still records and puts out cd's.
It's the real thing, with Leo Lyons (who founded Ten years After with Alvin Lee), Rick Lee and Chick Churchill from the original band, and Joe Gouch who took on as guitarist/front man after Alvin left the band. Alvin Lee is special place to me, he was wonderful, but I sure appreciate the upload of this as I've never had the opportunity to listen to the "new" band before. They are great and I'm sure Alvin Lee would agree with me as he listens from the peaceful place he is in now.
POR AQUI SE VE A FALTA QUE O ALVIN LEE FAZ A ESTA BANDA E NAO QUERO DIZER COM ISTO QUE ESTE GUITARRISTA NAO PRESTA SO QUE O ALVIN LEE OBRIGAVA A OUTRA RAPIDEZ E LOGO A SONORIDADE ERA DIFERENTE ENTAO AO VIVO O ALVIN E IMPARAVEL E INIGUALAVEL DE QUALQUER MANEIRA OS MEUS PARABENS.
Indeed, their intention was a lot more positive than the audiance, isn't music always a question unto us whether we are ready to open for a kind of holiness? I love the bassist too, isnt his drive infect you too? But for me is hel me, live 1973, the sphere of the whole album is lovely!
Alvin Lee was only really good with these guys, the original Ten Years After. His music was not the same without them. There is so much drive and energy even now with this new guitarist/singer who by the way is outstanding.
Hi. It`s a part from Ten years after ( after Alvin Lee ) with new Guitarrist.
Great video if I could hear Leo. Too bad the bass was lost in the mix. Saw the original tya at park west in Chicago and tya with Jpe in Detroit about 7 years ago. Both were equally f'n Awesome. Can't wait to see them next month finally back here in Chicago
I agree, it's not that blokes fault that he obtained that gig. He's just doing what his dreams set him out to do. These people should be getting mad at Alvin and the band, not him!
It doesn't matter who is the guitarist / singer in TYA. It's the S.O.U.N.D. that makes this band so great and enjoyable !!! Long live TYA!!!
Nobody is like Alvin Lee but this guy is awesome guitar player. Much more tasteful than many of his age
De a basszus eredeti TYA!!!! Kurva jó zene!
I watched this line up live in Belgrade in 2003. Joe Gooch is an outstanding guitarist and was a successful replacement for Alvin Lee. It is a great pity that they did not manage to stay together.

It's Ten Years After (Mk II) (2003-2014):
Joe Gooch: guitar, vocals (born in 1977) (TYA: 2003>2014)
Leo Lyons: bass (born in 1943) (TYA: 1966>2014)
Chick Churchill: keyboards (born in 1946) (TYA: 1966>present)
Ric Lee: drums (born in 1945) (TYA: 1966>present)
since 2014 the lineup has changed
Colin Hodgkinson (Whitesnake, Jon Lord, Spencer Davis Group) (born in 1945) has replaced Leo Lyons on bass
Marcus Bonfanti, a true killer has replaced Joe Gooch (Marcus is born cca 1975) .
this new lineup is great too.
Alvin had his solo carrer from 1973 (even before Positive Vibrations by TYA back in 1974)
sorry but i hate people who say "the replacer of" ...they are Ten Years After ! enjoy! for the Love of Chick, Ric & Leo !
moreover for Chick & Ric whom in 2016 are in the third and actual lineup ! 50 years of TYA !!! isn't it enough for you guys ? :)
I was there. :) It was stunning.

That's just the way it is... no doubt about it... Alvin Lee is a legend... You can't replace a legend...
Alvin and Leo never could see eye to eye. Without Alvin There's no TEN YEARS AFTER. The feeling is gone...
Agree with that. Sounds like a poor version of Ten Years Afters unfortunatelly, although this guitar boy is very, very good player.
this guy is fantastic.....i love him...not fair to compare now..hes too young... compare in 30 years..
גיל פלג In his whole life he'll become the half of Alvin...
Let's be optimistic ... Alvin was Alvin .. I love a good guitar ...especially young guitar players ... even Alvin was young once .. and compared it to bb king ..
גיל פלג I thought about it again .... you're right .... sorry ... Alvin has the X Factor ....
I've been a TYA fan since late 60's and I have no problem with Joe's playing, or vocals, the band is tight and sounds great.
