What do you mean by rickety? I think his playing evolved more from the 60's to when this was recorded(1991) than most of his peers from the 60's. Page and Clapton couldn't play at this level in 1991, Johnny Winter and Carlos Santana sounded almost exactly as they did in the 60's at this time.
Mick & Keef wouldn't have allowed him to stay, he was way too much on his own path. He wouldn't have fallen in line like Mick T or Ronnie Wood did and a wonderful job Taylor made of it. Not a good fit
@@alrosenblum2274 Probably true. Steve Marriott of Small Faces was also rumoured to be a favored replacement for Mick Taylor by Keith, but Jagger vetoed it because Marriott was too much of a showman, and a better singer than Jagger.
@@kmlgraph Jeff Beck was also considered but he refused (old interview), again those guys were on their own path. I saw Steve Marriott fronting a band in Birmingham Al way back. He was a great musician. Not sure about a better singer, Mick's voice is the soundtrack of my life.
@@taffyjones281 Ok ok, don't get so excited about guitarists at this level. I was not asking for your opinion as an English teacher. How would you rate his guitar playing? How can you evaluate where and how? Goodbye and have a good musical life!
So fortunate to see him in 80 or 81 @ Cap Ctr, in Maryland, whata a show, whata great guitar player, now he plays above the clouds for the Lord above!
That would’ve been December 3, 1981 in Landover at capital Center
@@splinterlife1969 yeppers great show , so glad I was able to see them !

Fedt
He and Hendrix the best at woodstock
Is that Leo Lyon on bass???
I’m not sure if that’s Leo Lyons because in the 90s he recorded two albums with his band called Kick. But possibly toured with Alvin Lee.
That's Leo alright no one sounds like Leo plays Bass like a Guitar...
@@brettbaker9416 I thought it was. Thanks for verifying
Imagine if Alvin replaced Mick Taylor after he left the Stones.

32:00-32:40 dark magic
His guitar playing style had never changed. His fingering was fast, but his scales were rickety. I was tired of it.
Rickety?a master on the geetar......he so bad people packed venues to see him...who is your favorite George Benson? Jon McGlaughlin?
@@EricSlagle I don't need to listen to someone who misspells guitar & McLaughlin. lol.
And please write with correct grammar.
Do you understand ?
As a retired English teacher, I hope that I am sufficiently qualified to respond to your comments. Put simply and succinctly, I don't agree with you!
