I never seen Ian Gillan shining during an interview like this. Worth every second of it. He found his peace in his heart. Respect Mr. Gillan…Absolute Respect! 🤘😎🤘
I absolutely agree. I am a Purple fan since the 70s but this is the most profound interview I have seen up to now. Honest, straight and with a very deep emotion. I think we looked into his soul more than ever before.
Gillan is so composed here, so mature, and knowledgeable beyond even what I would have imagined. Whether we in North America admit it or not, I (as a Staunch Anglophile who spent many great times in England) feel that, though we started a lot of "rock" the British bands like Deep Purple, The Move, The Small Faces, Uriah Heep ran off with it and smacked us on the face with what we had started. It spread to Europe. We need to have some US or Canadian bands who can shine like Purple or FM and Magnum for latter bands, or we can be laughed at. This is the best interview ever with the Legend- Sir Ian Gillan.💌🤟👍🎤
Admire Ian very much. They have the largest following of any rock group in history yet received less attention. He deserves to enjoy his life of humility being the undisputed king of all vocalists in a band of unmatched skill.
I wish this interview was five times as long. Perhaps the best Ian Gillan interview I've ever heard. He was so engaged, so eager to be responding to such thoughtful questions. I've never heard him speak quite like this, ever.
What an amazing time musically that was. It moulded me for life. In fact the 70s were the best for me. Never to be repeated. Today's music isn't music anymore, just a noise. Thank God for the old rockers still going. I remeber going to bed with a small transistor in my ear and waking up to a flat battery!!
He's been there done it numerous times and has the tee shirts. He has burnt the candles at four ends and I believe, survived drink, drugs countless 'After eight mints' but is still rocking and my hero. 😎☯️🌱
I've read his autobiography, written at a different stage of life. The Ian Gillan in this interview is remarkably at peace, mature, and full of spirit. Thank you for this interview!
The first impression is how good Ian Gillan looked. A couple of years ago he looked so thin and frail. Nice to see him like this. ❤ Second, that was just about the best interview I’ve seen with him ever. Good questions and thoughtful replys. 🙏🏼
What wonderful insights from Ian. That's why he's such a great singer ... it's not just his voice in the literal sense; it's the whole man - persona, attitudes, influences, and everything else - that he expresses in the studio and live on stage that make his voice in the broadest sense such an integral and essential part of the whole DP sound. And what a wonderful ending ... "I'm bathed in the sunshine of Deep Purple!" 😊
What an amazing man, a true gent, Ian Gillan is the voice of Deep Purple, he always has and always will be ,Ian is very intellectual ,interesting and extremely professional ... my absolute hero of 5 decades 💜
That's a terrific interview, maybe the best I've heard of Mr. Gillan. The mature man's well-developed perspective, and he touches on a lot of things. One thing really surprised me, that he really disliked as he said the higher registers of his young man voice. Speed King, Highway Star, Space Truckin'...dang, I thought his voice was something exceptional back then (of course I was a young guy too). Not sure what exactly he didn't like, but seemed to me his voice had it all...power, depth, great tonal qualities. Of course it does seem to be the usual pattern with musicians and other kinds of artists to be dissatisfied with a lot of their own work and the tendency is, the further in the past, the more so.
How beautifully spoken Ian! Absolutely chilled to the max plus no ego! I doubt you realise your impact you have had continuously and still do! Wonderful interview DP force to be reckoned with without a doubt ! Thank you Ian 💜🙏💜
How I just love this interview! I could listen for hours and hours.....saying you are "bathed in the sunshine of Deep Purple"... You are a happy man.....
@@leonedethebes That's your opinion but we Ian and Purple fans always love it when we can hear something new. I saw them live in 2022 with Simon and they were fantastic and I'm looking forward seeing them again in Oktober. Sour Blackmore is past history long time ago. If the gentlemen from Purple still love singing ,performing ,making records we must enjoy it too and thank them .
@@kennethmoh9042 Absolutely! Of course Blackmore is a fantastic guitar player but he has such a bad character that it was very difficult to work with him. Of course I too love Mark 2 records the most but I' m very glad that the others choose to go further with a more lovely man Steve who also is a very good ,more melodic guitar player. I saw Simon live in 2022 and he plays the way Blackmore did. I'm looking forward hearing him live in Oktober when he'll play the songs of the new record with his own punch.
Now this was extremely interesting for me, so many things I didn’t know, especially the story with Luciano Pavarotti. Deep Purple is still a great band and the new album with the new guitarist is probably one of their best. They still catch you and hold you in a positive sense!
Ian always has something interesting to say. No matter where, no matter when. He will come up with something worth listening to. Excellent wordsmith in songwriting and daily life. See you in November guys.
Great interview! I think the interviewer must have been in the same mood. This is an insight in the history of rock music. Jon Lord, Tony Iommi, Rick Wakeman, Brian May… Listening to them, telling about their life, it‘s fine food for my heart
Isn’t it incredible, Deep Purple are underrated .. but only in their home country. It’s changing, the last album got 10/10 reviews and was album of the week on the BBC. Just 56 years U.K.! 😀
Good for you Mr Gillan. I've been listening to Deep Purple since I was a teenager in the 1970s. You're always been my #1 band and I'm thrilled to see the new direction. Very happy for you all.
Thank you! Ian Gillan's Gethsemane Song (I only want to say) saved me at the age of 14 (1976). A year before we saw in school a few filmrolls showing the opening of the Concentration Camps in Auschwitz, Dachau etc. I was broken, enabled to se colours for weeks but also saved by my teenage clique. But than this song, and a play, Jesus Crist Superstar, initiated by the pastor in the shards quarter get me up again. Ian Gillan, I never raise you to the stool, therefor the medicine works. Again with a thundering silent gratitude, thank you, with much Love, Martin Vienna Austria
Ian Gillan is still a beast of a singer!! So glad to see you all are still rocking as hard and as beautifully as ever. It goes without saying that I, like millions of others, continue to be enriched, inspired, and delighted by the great music you've created over the years. Endless gratitude! Peace, health, and happiness to you!
I like this man and his voice already for 50+ years... it's like family without him ever knowing me (granted, I wish that would go for more of my family, but well...)... what a guy, what a gift. Thank you Ian.
Totally legend..! Not only as one of the best voices ever, but as a very gifted personality, absorbing and reflecting the history. Great storyteller as well.
I can listen to Ian Gillan for hours even he isn't singing one little note.
Indeed he is phenomenal 💜
Of course dude grateful,🌹
Talk about out of control Hero Worship' ...I mean come on man.

Ian reaffirms that with age comes wisdom. I like his positive outlook.
What a professional British gentleman. Could listen for hours 👏🏻❤️🇬🇧
The new album is amazing. A bit old school but TIGHT and well produced.
What a guy! I could listen to him for hours.
So happy Simon ended up in Deep Purple. A truly amazing guitar player.
Ian Gillan has been my hero since I was 17 (I am 59). His voice is out of this world! Long live Ian Gillan!!!
Same age.
My first favorite.
I reallly dig the story construction(s) of his, and many other's rock lyrics.
I have to say this man is the most articulate rockstar.. his interviews are a flowing story.. probably a song lyric in all his sentences
Long Live Ian Gillan 🎸

It's crazy to see that Ian is knocking on the door to his 80s! 😲

Ian Gillan, what an amazing person.
