I have a Magnuson supercharger installed on my 2017 tundra, towing 28ft RV. I have more then enough power and torque I don’t notice the trailer on the level or going up hill. For me was worth the money, plus my fuel economy improved when I don’t rump on it.
I have not dyned it, but 0-60 in 5.5, 5.7 Twice pushing about 5900 lbs (increased weight add ons) says it about the power. The horse power stated by Magnuson is 550 HP and 550 HP at the crank. I have seen a video with a Magnuson S.C. installed in a 2017 tundra sr5 put on a dyno rear wheel HP is 475 and torque is 467 at 4400 ft of elevation. I think that would be fairly close to real numbers. It is not cheap but I think worth it. I use to own a 69 Malibu SS for years before I sold it. After I added the S.C. this truck feeds my Horse power ego and my sedate normal driving habits so not interested in a new muscle car. I also added the Trd front and rear sway bar the truck handles almost as good as my 325I. But no off road stuff with the sway bars on.
Nicely done video mate and very informative....I also love the trd superchargers, it's a nice option to have for those Toyota owners that want a good amount of more power but that is also reliable and at a very reasonable value price. Great props to Toyota for making a factory supercharger that all Toyota owners can get and enjoy their Toyota cars and trucks even more.....on a side note, when you think about all the extra power you get from the supercharger and how that creates extra stress on the stock engine block and it's stock internal components, Yet Toyota was ok with just bolting the charger directly to a completely factory stock engine, it just goes to show the quality and durability of a Toyota engine and how they are factory stress tested to handle much more power then what the factory stock engines produce....in other words Toyota engines are over enginerd to last...
TRD had a supercharger for the 1MZ v6 too which is even rarer then this one for the 3.4. So you could have a supercharged Sienna, Solara, Camry, Highlander, Avalon and ES-300 during that era too. I love the sound of the Taco with an SC. It sounds like a plane taking off
Love that Supercharger sound, really good video and great information. | Also... Love to see how well this video has done on your channel, it looks like it gave you a massive boost, congrats!!!
@Gabe Ruesswick Sure there available new, it’s just not going to have the TRD logo on it. The used old one with the TRD logo is much harder to find at a good price. I finally found locally though.👍
Used Mercedes e430 can be bought the same price of that supercharger alone. With a little up keep that Mercedes will give you a smile every time you put your foot down too. Also belt won’t be snapping anytime soon. However, you have a nice new channel. Good luck. You will do well if continues.
I’m getting mine ready for more power, idk if a Trd supercharger or a turbo. With everything I’ve done and new ecu I got that has my current stage one tune. I’m making 220hp, btw stock was 140
The fuel mods are not needed staying stock true. But doing the urd 7th injector or 2zj injectors or meth injection does help performance and longevity of the engine and charger.. I purchased and rebuilt my 2nd gen charger in my old 98 runner installed it without fuel mods at 300k miles on the drivetrain. Blew the first engine up at 340k swapped in a 270k mile engine with the 7th injector and it was 10x better across the board as far as throttle response and seat dyno. I also remember blowing a belt on the trail once unplugged the 7th injector and used my jump box to keep the truck running long enough to get to the main road good times haha
I just slapped er on my high km 3.4, somewhere over 400, dont know exactly as I bought it from a wrecked 4Runner that was upside down. And it's been reliable for last 2 years with the blower. Pretty soon I'll be looking for another 3.4, and I will rebuild it for boost and have it ready to drop on if the one I'm running dies. Then I'll do all the fancy stuff. It's a wheeler, so go fast parts have never been a priority.
I can definitely agree with the 3.0 auto and going up a hill, is horrible even with a 2wd truck. When i did my swap to manual and mated it up to the 3.4l supercharger. OMG what world of difference, its expensive but oh so worth it. Just need to get a limited slip differential so i can use first gear.
I have a 2010 Tundra with the 5.7, and I think I would give a kidney for the TRD supercharger they made for it. $1200 seems like a screaming deal compared to the 5.7 superchargers I've seen floating around.
Supercharge crowns 3 .5 v6 360hp ,3.5v6 mark x 2015 up 360 supercharge..older mark x supercha. 3.0 320hp .theres a camry in dwn yander dat makes 323hp with supercharge
When you add a supercharger, let's say on a 1996 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder. do you have to reinforce the internals prior to the installation of the supercharger?
Sadly I bet my home built 94 3.0 with a gm 3rd gen ported m90 and some goodies makes this much power If not more and your right who dont love a blower I really dig your ride too get a bigger crank pulley or smaller blower pulley and step your plugs down a heat range or two and with ngk the higher the number the colder the plug I just got a set of brk6es for mine
The first gen supercharger is better than the second gen. It's easier to rebuild and modify. I ported and polished mine and ran a 1.8 pulley. Ultimately the trd supercharger is a poor design. The compressor toyota used is too small and is inefficient for the 3.4. I'm out of the 3.4 game now. If I were in it again, I would get a cx racing turbo kit and slowly upgrade the Chinese components. Would make far more power.

With no required additional fuel delivery I have to assume that it's producing around 5 psi. ?? ( Still adds ponys ) ..have you considered running lower compression turbo style pistons? And a programable ECM. The lower compression pistons will make more power with the same boost. And being able to retard timing while under boost as well as fine tune fuel delivery for optimum AFR. .. other things boosted engines like are cooler spark plugs and stiffer valve springs. .. you don't necessarily have to go crazy like a engine running 20+ psi . But I would at least install a wideband O2+AFR gauge to know for sure you are at it near the ideal 12.5:1 Air Fuel Ratio. .. and have it Dyno tuned. .. if u do go nuts and beef it up for more psi u could add a turbo charger in series with the supercharger .. like a compound turbo setup. .
I'm going to be running this 3.4 as it is until she blows. In the meantime I have been looking for a spare motor, so I can completely rebuild and beef for go fast parts. At that point I'll consider low compression pistons and whatnot. For now shes a wheeler, works great as is, and dont need to go fast, as most the time shes crawling anyways 😂
@@DirtGarage cool .. I'm not sure what's available for the 3.4. Like if a factory turbo version exist .. but if so those pistons would be ideal and affordable. @DirtGarage What are ur thoughts on 2008-2015 Scion xB with a 2.4L 2AZ-FE that they use to make a TRD centrifugal type supercharger? Now they discontinued that too of course because they had issues of bearing problems. Yes but we know turbocharger is better. But I’m a die hard TRD. So what do I think? Is it worth it? And why?
As I was viewing your old video for TRD supercharger I have to correct you on the fact that yes it will run on regular gas also no pinging come of eng. There's a way to cheat the factory ecm and there's a modification on valve train I drive a 95 t100 factory ecm (they said it will not work) runs on regular gas , 10 psi boost and runs great
@@cartervaughn9180 to begin with the valve springs are to weak they tent to float under boost if you remove one you will find that they will be somewhere of 33to35 pounds not enough also the head gaskets are fiber you need the 1of the 3.4 tundra. Make sure you replace the head bolts . If you go that far .you need to remove the knock sensors install a brass washers under to make then less sensitive. I have a 1995 Toyota Tacoma reg cab, with 2.4 liter automatic transmission, and want to supercharge it, or boost it , any 1 have info if it’s possible on this model !???
Great video! I have a Trd Supercharger in my 2003 Tacoma (black 2nd gen supercharger) and I am at around 94k miles with em. I bought the truck at 91k miles and want to do due diligence and have maintenance on the supercharger up to par. I was planning to change the oil soon. Do you reccomend anything else? Also how much were the belts from toyota? Thanks!
Hey man! Did you ever get any ping from it in the higher gears at lower revs or anywhere else? If so what did you end up doing to fix it. I'm looking at methanol possibly or larger supra injectors with a piggyback tuner like a fic6
out of topic question lol what are you running for differential gears ratio ? i got the same sas swap and 3.4 in my 90 pick up (no supercharger) i run 36 and 4.56 for gears i like your truck!
You need to find a 98 or later ECM to work with Superchargers. From what I've been told anyways. They earlier ECMs don't know how to adjust for boost and the supercharger can be harmful to the engine.
I recently put a 1st gen SC on my 99 4runner. Did you upgrade your ECU and injectors? Cause people say its a thicking time bomb cause I didn’t get the ecu reflash or tuned. So basically I’m running the car with out any tuned.
No fancy computer piggybacks, or injectors. Your fine without any of that junk, just run premium fuel. I've had zero issues with mine since the day I put it on!
Ty so much for the input. I liked your videos by the way. Now i have another issue on my SC. It makes noise when im on idle, I replaced the nose cone bearings already and still making noise. But when i rev it up the disappear. You think the wheels inside the SC are bad? TIA
So engine wise it’s stock? No replacing driveshaft or anything? I’m a huge “car guy” so excuse my arrogance. Thinking about supercharging my 2017 3.5L Tacoma
The engine was swapped into this truck, the 3.4s never belonged in 89s.. But the engine itself is 100% stock, no upgraded internals. My driveshafts are custom to accommodate the 4x4 modifications done to this truck, stock driveshafts work just fine with blower.
My concern would be the drivetrain with twice the power pushing 37s but I guess it's holding its own. That era was overbuilt, the Tacoma is very weak in comparison
What’s up buddy..I loved my 03 TRD taco..I had the super charger installed when I bought it and had the price put into my payments.awesome option from Toyota.the only neg was I got my truck with the horrible auto trans for wheeling..I ended up getting rid of my taco transmission was not able to survive the extra hp-TQ. And my skinny pedal addiction..money pit..

What mod/cheat? I have a 96 t100 and I want to supercharge it but I thought you couldn’t
I will stop here if you do all of that contact me again there's more you need to do (good luck)
Are u running a body lift?
Did you run the stock clutch on this setup? Also did you have a smaller pulley?
Stock everything clutch. Just make sure you actually buy OEM stuff. And no, I kept stock pully to keep it reliable.
I have a 1995 Toyota Tacoma reg cab, with 2.4 liter automatic transmission, and want to supercharge it, or boost it , any 1 have info if it’s possible on this model !???
I'm saving up one for my 4runner 👌
Awesome!
I have one on my '98 4 Runner Limited. A valve body upgrade is highly encouraged by me. Mine only has 68,000 miles sporting 20" rims.
is there a TRD supercharger for a 1uz I always only see ppl throw on a Cobra Superchargers on 1UZs
No option for 1UZ, there is a couple options for it though like the Cobra.
Do you have to tune the ecu or anything after installing the supercharger? Or does the stock ecu compensate?
Can you use this on a 1986 Toyota pickup with a 22r efi engine?
Sure! If you pull the engine and 3.4 swap. I have a video on this.
Awesome car sir....
Came for the supercharger, stayed for the whiiiine.
Thanks!
Man if you were running '31s you would probably be able to fly doing like 130k up fort settle hill. Haha. That's awesome power.
Hey man! Did you ever get any ping from it in the higher gears at lower revs or anywhere else? If so what did you end up doing to fix it. I'm looking at methanol possibly or larger supra injectors with a piggyback tuner like a fic6
I've only ever got ping on bad fuel traveling in USA. In Canada I never experienced any issues as long as I used premium fuel.
Canadian
Yessir!
Twin scroll/efr makes boost at 2000 RPM.
out of topic question lol what are you running for differential gears ratio ?
i got the same sas swap and 3.4 in my 90 pick up (no supercharger) i run 36 and 4.56 for gears
i like your truck!
I'm still running stock 4.56 gears. I don't plan on re-gearing because I really like how it drives on the highway with this setup!
Thinking of doing a 3.4 swap in my 91 pickup. Been looking into all these. Is it worth the hassle?
I have thought of doing that. How much more fuel do you use. I have a Toyota landcruiser troopcarrier diesel.
When I hear TRD I just think oh crap
I have a 95 toy with the V6. So if I find one of these chargers. Do you have to get the computer reprogrammed or anything after the install.
You need to find a 98 or later ECM to work with Superchargers. From what I've been told anyways. They earlier ECMs don't know how to adjust for boost and the supercharger can be harmful to the engine.
Pretty sure it’s a 97 ecu with the same options. I picked up a a 97 Tacoma 4x4 M/T for my t100.
Very Cool 😎
Thanks!
I need one for my 2001 FBO V6 Camry
how about the 3.5 for the highlander?
That’s why I’m here I don’t see anything about supercharged highlanders but I want to boast mine
Price?
For? I mention price in the video!
Hey man I was wondering if you could help me out. I was interested in supercharging my Lexus that has the 2jzge. Maybe a trd supercharger fits?
Help me build my 07 Camry I want supercharge it
Nice rig
Thank you.
How do I get a supercharger for my 2013 Camry?
The Toyota Sienna has a Supercharger
Installed a supercharger on my 97 tacoma with 2.2 pulley and urd 7th injector kit. Its rips, my rear tires have paid the price.
I'll get there one day! I've got so many other offroad mods to do before I get back into engine performance stuff.
TIA
Toyota Previa 1994 to 1999 Supercharged mid engine 4 cylinder minivan. And yes they did make 4WD
Could run colder sparkplugs then run lower octane gas
I'll just do what Toyota recommends for these!
I want to put one on my 2013 toyota venza xle v6 lol
So engine wise it’s stock? No replacing driveshaft or anything? I’m a huge “car guy” so excuse my arrogance. Thinking about supercharging my 2017 3.5L Tacoma
The engine was swapped into this truck, the 3.4s never belonged in 89s.. But the engine itself is 100% stock, no upgraded internals. My driveshafts are custom to accommodate the 4x4 modifications done to this truck, stock driveshafts work just fine with blower.
Dirt Garage okay, thank you for the info!
My concern would be the drivetrain with twice the power pushing 37s but I guess it's holding its own. That era was overbuilt, the Tacoma is very weak in comparison
No problems yet!
Me looking at the Avalon in the driveway and wondering if it would be worth it.
Probably not... But it would be cool!
They came on mr2's and previa as well
I'm talking the TRD ones in the video. Yes I have seen MR2s and Previas with superchargers, but they are "Toyota" not "TRD"
@@DirtGarage oh thanks, I thought they were all trd.👍
Need one for my vios✌️✌️✌️
I need one for my G6
Talk talk talk lets show
I need one for mt 16v 2.4 tacoma
What’s up buddy..I loved my 03 TRD taco..I had the super charger installed when I bought it and had the price put into my payments.awesome option from Toyota.the only neg was I got my truck with the horrible auto trans for wheeling..I ended up getting rid of my taco transmission was not able to survive the extra hp-TQ. And my skinny pedal addiction..money pit..
No kidding! My truck used to be an automatic aswell, robbed so much power. The manual really wakes these 3.4s up the most.
