Do you recommend eating a gel pack every five miles or so? I'm running my first marathon in 5 months and not real sure on how much to eat or drink. Thanks!
Typically I will take a gel 15 mins before the start and then every 45 mins in a marathon. I try to ideally line it up close to aid stations so that just before I get water/gatorade I take the gel. The key is to stay in front of it and not wait until you"need" to take one because by then it's too late. Practice in your long runs during training so you know which flavours you like and work with your stomach. Good luck in your marathon!

How many cups do you drink at every station? If it's recommended to drink 13-26 ounces of liquid per hour I should be drinking about 3-4 cups I think
