If he is the one behind the dealerships not working on our older Harley's. Then yeah......He needs to go! As for all the other problems that you have discussed in this video. I fully agree with you! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Harley needs to dance with the one who brung ya! Companies are big into (change for the sake of change) New models, more bells and whistles. Mechanic techs can't keep up, salesman don't know what they're selling, consumers are confused,,, especially new customers! Any struggling team must get back to basics! Harley design engineers should be required to own and ride the bikes they design.
Hey good video. Your statement DEI is an employee not consumer issue. I disagree. Those DEI employees are building our bikes, working customer service and support, making warranty decisions, deciding on merchandise and apparel and running the HOG membership program. So the experience and qualifications of that employee greatly affect us as consumers. I am completely in agreement that Jochen Zeitz needs to step down exactly for the reasons you mention. He is hurting the brand. Doesn’t matter if his decisions are making money for the company. The core Harley Davidson customers do not like him and lost faith he is serving the HD brand as we have known it. Pennsylvania just gave Harley Davidson an $89 million grant for the York PA plant. Obviously the politicians are worried and trying to bribe HD not to reduce that plant production in the future years. I am sure they see what is happening in Wisconsin and don’t want to lose jobs in their state.
Harley-davidson is a classic American brand. Needs to be lead by an American. You need someone who understands the American customer, who purchases the motorcycles.
Joachim needs to go. He isn’t even a motorcyclist, let alone someone who knows what his target customer demographics are. Harley ownership used to be a lifestyle. Younger generations use to follow in their parent’s footsteps. 😮 Not any more. Harley tried to develop a younger crowd with the Buell but they absolutely refused to acknowledge that young riders could not afford their products. In the meantime Honda started making cheaper and faster crotch rockets to attract younger riders like they did in the 60’& 70’s along with the other foreign brands and got all those you get riders who have aged up to become older riders who ride cruisers and touring bikes of other manufacturers now. All all the competition motorcycles companies had supported their top-of-the-line bikes by selling all those smaller faster motorcycles for the last 30 years and they’re all still making money. Harley Davidson needs to find people to run the motor company that actually understand all the demographics of the motorcycling community. Indian right now is doing a much better job of it along with Honda BMW, Kawasaki, Yamaha and Royal Enfield Harley needs to re-organize and run a company that sells motorcycles to wider range of different demographic groups riders by catering to larger demographic age group of riders and always make sure to managing production to whatever group is riding & buying more. Honda and its Japanese & Asian competitors are still relevant because they have always followed the demographics of its consumers. The cheaper sporty bikes have kept the Goldwings on the road and BWW airheads have kept the K bikes going the same way. The motor company should hire someone from Honda whom knows demographics. “You meet the nicest people on a Honda” worked wonders for them. Just my 2 cents worth
I own 2 (previously used) Harley-Davidsons. I live in York, PA - Harley-Davidsons are created 1 mile from my home. My problem is: Who can afford to buy a NEW $30K Motorcycle? I'm not poor, I'm not rich. I am a recently retired Professional Civil Engineer. I cannot afford a $30K motorcycle.
Thailand plant opened in 2018 under previous CEO why was that ??? getting rid of Zitz may prove problematic Harley is still making money so the big 2 Blackrock and Vanguard not likely to move against him beside look how many Harley shares He owns and their worth in comparison to what average rider invests 20-30 k vs 22+ million . youre right in one way the moral panic and toxic politics from both sides are really a distraction from real the issues at Harley
People need to do a better job and understanding how business works. The CEO and the board of directors are concerned about one thing the shareholders. Absolutely the consumer is part of it but if you look at the numbers since he took over, the company is doing much better. The dealers seemed to like the new CEO and this comes from the owners of three dealerships. I know the owners of in Washington, state and Texas . People complain that Harley Davidson bikes are too expensive. So they send some models outside of the US. It’s not possible to have it both ways. Consumers can absolutely influence a company, but expecting them to remove the CEO that is making them more money is just not going to happen Another point is hardly Davidson is an international company. Some of the things are done to facilitate sales outside of the United States. I don’t think it’s a coincidence the CEO is a German.
What seems to be the problem? Do you not like Capitalism? Understand one thing capitalism recognizes no borders. Harley will manufacture motorcycles where they can exploit resources. American labor is way too expensive and it can’t compete with labor in other countries. Change is difficult but capitalism is here to stay.
