- One of the best ways to stay safe in India is to avoid scammers. As I walked around Mumbai, I was actually surprised that I didn't encounter more. However, you definitely want to avoid this particular man in Mumbai.

So I'm pretty sure he was trying to convince to buy an outfit like the one he had on, because I was headed to a "traditional area." I knew that was BS immediately which is why I was like "good thing I brought one of those along." There's a similar scam in Thailand where they tell you that you can't go into a temple or palace because you don't have the right clothes on, so they give you an alternative itinerary full of stops that give them kickbacks.

@potatothorn right, to us it seems weird but he's gonna have a crazy markup that he'll try to stick me with and so instead of needing to sell 10 shirts, he can just sell me one for the price of ten.
@potatothorn a lot of rip offs over there don't seem bad at first, but then after awhile everything starts adding up and quickly you've spent $60 in a day when you really should've only spent $5 or $10

Selling meat on the street like that without licensed shop is illegal by law in India as its Unsanitary but the State Governements and their appeasement of the Muzlims, the less we say the better, it has been recently banned by the new government in state of Rajasthan.
