This isn't just an ordinary slums area like what I see in our country, they are all productive and busy working for their food and other needs. I hope each one of them will have a better life soon 🙏
This guy showing you around really knows his community. He is witty and clever and quite charming. You picked the best person to give you a tour in a very complicated and foreign part of the world. Well done. And you didn't degrade or insult the host country you are in like so many western "vloggers" who travel through slums of poor countries and objectify the locals for views and fun.
Well, not like westerners are angels of justice or something, but it is very good when they're honest about it rather than saying "it is very beautiful to live like this".
@@Kaalabadal1772True. There are many vloggers that sugarcoat everything and their video lacks any substance. While I understand what the op was saying, an honest vlogger is always the best. Show everything, the good and the bad
you found a very smart and decent guide, he knows a lot about the place he lives in, no one reacts negatively to filming, working and living conditions are terrible. In addition, children work is a special problem.
People who live in parts of the world similar to Dharavi, Mumbai must have incredibly strong immune systems to survive there. I wouldn't last long. I feel very fortunate I live in an environment that is so much healthier and cleaner. That river of garbage almost makes me want to cry. It was a healthy river at one point and time.
Evolution at work. Think of all the children who have died in these filthy conditions. Yet they keep breeding more. The river was healthy until careless humans polluted and destroyed it.
Incredible, what a precious and important topic, India has its amazaing sights and also the forgotten Slum area you show us - great video Gabi with your compagnion👍🙏 - endless hard working and poor but mostly friendly people. I have been to India, saw only a glimpse, children, Babies sleeping with mother on the streets....Aww !
I appreciate how you honored the people-highlighting their resourcefulness, industriousness, hustle and heart. Some vloggers and documentary makers present such places through a lens of pity or lack. You maintained the dignity of those living in the slum and showcased the amazing “something” where some might see nothing and held together well the duality of it being both the largest slum but also the most revenue producing.
Brother that's a horrible mindset, that's like saying "well at least i'm not a starving child in Africa", ones problems are unique to oneself, and are dealt with differently considering their upbringing/circumstances.
Lol they are maybe richer than you, These people are not poor These slum people have farm land in their village, it's just Here they are living like this in congested place because They have small businesses Which Is very profitable and with less risk of rules and regulations. Kind of illegal
The direction you went in this video is very beautiful, your impressions expressed so well and with authenticity. I am very interested in what people do and see more and more how all human beings really want the same thing - to be valued and productive and to live as best they can. It’s truly a miracle how people adapt to where they are and still live a life worth living as these people are. 🙏

They work so hard and still in slums for generations. I love that they are productive and making nice things like the clay pots. Those who managed to escape the slums and get jobs in other countries are blessed because they can contribute and lessen the burdens back home.
Hi Gabi. This is a video that stands out compared to others, you show a reality that tourists rarely get to see, so interesting to follow into the neighborhoods where people seem to be born, grow up and work in an extreme environment, you do a great job of conveying the situation to the viewers. Many thanks Gabi Take Care 🫶👏
The guide does a good job and a nice coverage done. Very surprised with the productivity in this large complex and the hard work of people which is great.
@alexandriathe_great: Strange that some people with so much are so miserable. It gives credence to owning nothing and being happy. These people have little but are grateful for what they have.
Great video Gabi! The pan leaf you had contains beetle nut and sometimes tobacco too. It is linked to cancers of the throat and mouth as well as giving you unsightly red gums and teeth - so best avoided. But I can understand why they take it. Credit to the people who live there and work so hard. The place just really needs a good cleanup and some town planning which will make a massive difference. These people deserve this, they are trying to improve their situation and not just giving up. This is where the government should put the effort in on improving the lot of the common man. It is great to send rockets to the far side of the moon and inflate your ego, but how is that helping your countryman?

In fact, even in the 21st century, there are billions of People world wide who have poor living standards, have to work 12 to 16 hours a day 6 days or 7 days a week, no workers rights, dirt poor low wages, and shitty small apartment or shared room. What a naive point of view. You think these people would say no to money if they could have it? Fool.
@Rohan-7499 Wrong. Try again.
Thailand is not that bad imo
@@grtinfulleffect8349 No they are correct. Not even a comparison. Americans with poorness mindset are deluded.
India and thailand is not comparable
What an incredible people these Indian people are......even in the midst of such adversity, they still smile, are still kind and still want to help. I pray their adversities will soon be over and they can enjoy the love and peace we all long for!
This is result of population boom, bad planning and corruption
Now india population growth is getting slowed and stagnated. Europe population is decreasing note that decreasing population also bring much adversity just like very high rising population. Currently Europe is surviving on influx of immigrants otherwise native European population is decreasing
I don't say this as an criticism, but the fact certain culture or people tend to remain happy in such conditions seems to be the reason why they don't have the motivation to change it.
@@Kouros-y2t u r right sir. They remain happy in that situation that's why they don't want to change cuz they r mediocre people their only hope for change is government

And from outside, it looks like a very safe area, no agressive people, or obvious scammers...
I was there in March, as an American it was an eye opening experience. Not at all what I expected. Would like to go back. Indian people were great.
Like the guy said about the tap water when asked it's ok to drink? "Yes, for the locals, not for you!"
Evolution at work. Think of all the children who have died in these filthy conditions. Yet they keep breeding more. The river was healthy until careless humans polluted and destroyed it.
@@LaurenceDay-d2pyeah THEY polluted it
Incredible, what a precious and important topic, India has its amazaing sights and also the forgotten Slum area you show us - great video Gabi with your compagnion👍🙏 - endless hard working and poor but mostly friendly people.
We complain about everything and these people have nothing. I noticed that they all smiled a " Hello ". God Bless them all.
lol just the fact that others have worse problems doesnt make your problems insignificant buddy
@@web3wizard381 of course not but the attitude towards your problem can definetly Change ;)
Brother that's a horrible mindset, that's like saying "well at least i'm not a starving child in Africa", ones problems are unique to oneself, and are dealt with differently considering their upbringing/circumstances.
Lol they are maybe richer than you,
These people are not poor
These slum people have farm land in their village, it's just
Here they are living like this in congested place because
They have small businesses
Which Is very profitable and with less risk of rules and regulations.
Kind of illegal

The direction you went in this video is very beautiful, your impressions expressed so well and with authenticity. The west can learn a thing or two from such Slums. These people are the hardest working, in attrocious conditions & for very little money, yet they're probably happier than people in the west.

These are very hard working peoples, I agree but to say living in such deplorable conditions & they are happier than most peoples in the western countries ? you must be out of your mind & in denial state of the reality. Are you living in such condition now ? The government of India is corrupt & incompetent otherwise slums like this shouldn't exist in one of the so called largest city of India. If you are an Indian, I guess you must be from the upper caste & poor peoples that lives in the slums makes you feel great & superior. Very disgusting !
Nope Mexico is the hardest working country and every country in the west is happier than India, India ranks 128 in happiness

They work so hard and still in slums for generations. I love that they are productive and making nice things like the clay pots. Those who managed to escape the slums and get jobs in other countries are blessed because they can contribute and lessen the burdens back home.
Hi Gabi.
