1. Never treat anyone’s merchandise like that until it’s purchased
2. Never tell any seller at a garage sell that your a reseller
You should have named this video. What not to do while thrifting at a garage sale
Yeah I cringe at these videos with resellers. Outright looking up comps on eBay right in front of the seller! I would be pissed if I was the seller!! Be a little more discreet!

Same. Especially when it’s cards I poured a lot of time into
If you want a certain amount of money for something why would you care who bought it and what they do with it? If you are that emotionally concerned why not give them to a kid you can’t have it both ways

My opinion, it’s wasn’t because you told him you were a reseller. It’s because you kept explaining your thoughts on how you were going to resell AFTER he already committed to selling them to you. If I’ve learned one thing over the years, after the agreement on price has been made, pay and take possession. Anything that is said in between that CANNOT benefit you. It can only hurt the deal. Aside from that, he was already unsure about selling due to his story with his friend at the end. It was opening a wound for him.

I thought both he and his woman where a bit rude. Grabbing and touching everything without asking but I don't do yard sales. The handling of the cards was painful to watch though
@@rolandking640generally if it is on a table at a yard sale it is okey to touch so you can see if you are interested in buying said item. At the same time when picking things up and going through them you have to handle with care until you decide to buy it.
Stop going to yard sales and telling them that you’re a flipper. The minute you say that, they pull back their items and then they flip out there phone and go to the Bible of EBay and they’ll start taking tags off of their items. That’s why I don’t even bother with yard sales half the time anymore. Why go to a yard sale if you’re gonna charge eBay prices? I’m better off just staying in bed and shopping online in the comfort of my own home.
I figure at the end of the day if you enjoy bartering....I hope I said that right you can always bring the price down a few dollars. Assuming you like that sort of thing.

I'm addressing a common take most people are having in the comments. Though it's frustrating as a buyer, the seller can change their mind about selling something at their yard sale. At the end of the day, it's their stuff. And on that note, be respectful of their property. Don't carelessly handle their things, as seen in this video with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards.
Where did he carelessly handle them?? I don't get it because he treated them just like any Yu-Gi-Oh player would
@@EMPCraft I disagree, and regardless, that’s how they handle THEIR cards. If you’re going to handle other’s stuff, be considerate and handle with extra care. Especially something as delicate as trading cards.
@@uglyboyscloset I play Yu-Gi-Oh and magic since over 20 years and play it very competetively. I can tell you he didn't treat any cards here less than they are.
@@EMPCraft As I said, you can treat your own property any way you want, but when handling OTHER’S property, you should be extra gentle and that goes beyond trading cards. It’s just being respectful and decent. I don’t understand what’s complicated about that.
@@uglyboyscloset he was respectful and decent. It's a garage sale and he has no cards with extra protection and no clue of what any are worth. So the value you can assume is basically around 50 euros. But going through the binder like he did is completely normal and didn't damage any card or decrease any value. Flipper was correct. If you offered a book for 50 cents you wouldn't be mad if someone touched it or riffled through the pages. But if it was a 500 dollar book you would treat it with way more care. But your fault if you offer it for 50 cents and people treat it like 50 cents just like you do.
She was out of line but I don’t think that factored at all into him not selling them, you talking about flipping on eBay and making more money from them was the sole reason the deal didn’t go through.
I don’t think it was the sole reason. I think her chiming in helped and also him not really wanting to sell them :)
never a good idea to say youre a reseller
I think 2 grown adults making a fool of themselves, the minute you would have handled the cards that way, you would be getting walked off the property.
That lady was foresure out of line !! Then they didn't buy even went farther and told the kid dont take that offer 😡
He knew you were a reseller and he felt better to let the kid get a chance at enjoying some decent Pokemon cards that weren't all bought from stores by adults for adults lol
I would advise everyone reading this to learn how to be more assertive when dealing with people like that mother. People like her will take advantage of your kindness. As a conscientious person, it can be difficult to learn how to say "no" and confront people in a graceful way, but you have to learn those skills. Otherwise you will be taken advantage of your entire life. Employers take advantage of their less assertive employees as a common example. There are a lot of selfish people out there.
Understatement when it comes to the mom probably talked to the guy to get her kid before purchasing something that her kid did or didn’t want to I advise you look out of the box on that prior arrangements happen most of the time when you tell someone they’d be right back I doubt she went there cause of him
Taken advantage of? They're literally going to yard sales and Goodwills and buying all the nice stuff, leaving actual poor people with Garbage! I wouldn't shed a tear if it was banned tomorrow. ANY eBay scanning should be an immediate trespass from thrift stores.
you & your wife were the real karens here, this vid is such a misleading clickbait, if someone tossed & treated my cards like that, i will make sure that they don't see the lights the next day, i would be really mad, i feel sorry for the seller
I rarely comment on videos but learn to handle people's cards better! Flipping through the binder that rough was making me cringe even before you folded a few pages in on each other! Then digging in the deck box just seemed like nervous fiddling with very little care. If you've been doing this for as long as you say you have then you know condition is everything with these type of collectables! I understand that both the seller and the Karen were far from ideal at this sale but that is a totally separate issue
Dude... That guy had some really decent yugioh cards. One of those Ultimate rares could have been over $50 depending how those conditions were... Holy shit... As for the Pokemon cards there was nothing there.
She was definitely a garage sale Karen. You are much nicer than I would of been to her. I felt like she was pushing her child to buy something he really did not want just to butt in.
I agree, she was definitely pushing her kid to buy it or "want it" and the kid was like nah, she probably didn't want to seem like a flipper and was using her kid to buy it
@@psychowpns22 and only bc it had pokemon on it lmao
Definitely lol
I feel like the child did not want the cars either, she is forcing him to get it
One thing I've learned with garage sales ...negotiate the price, pay for it and get out. I never make small talk. Too many people like me around , looking for deals, that will grab things right from under my nose.
His collection he’s had since youth was too dear to him to sell to a reseller. He’s like…..yeah I change my mind.
I think you handled that well. People are funny though. I had a guy try to buy some video games right out of my hands at a garage sale one time. I had selected a few games, agreed on a price with the seller and continued to browse. Another buyer came along and wanted to buy “all” the games including the ones in my hands. Needless to say, he didn’t get the ones I was holding but I was shocked that he even tried something that bold.
Tbh I find it very annoying when I hear someone say they don't know if they still want to sell something they have FOR SALE! If you are going to have doubts don't bring it out in the first place😅
Agreed :)
You have to understand though if someone says they are a reseller and you were once part of a tcg community it’s going to rub you the wrong way because they aren’t in it for the love of the game they are only in it for the money. Especially if your like this guy calling them magic cards then saying I don’t know to much about these ones but I’m pretty sure the shiny ones are worth a decent amount. If that was me personally I wouldn’t have sold it to him either and put the item back out after he left that’s just me personally though not a fan of resellers if you don’t know much about the product
@@simplyfig3942It's too late though. You've already put the stuff out there to the public. If you're concerned about values then you should look it up beforehand.

Yes she was out of line. First rate d-bag on wheels. As for the seller, don't put stuff out to sell if you don't want to sell it. Bizarre.
So true :) don’t want to sell it, don’t put it out
The d-bags are people who don't build, create or repair or invent anything in this country. People have become lazy and just want to flip stuff online and on marketplace, we live in a sad world where people just want something for doing nothing. I can easily make 3-6 grand a week working on cars, skills are good to have.
She was rude and obnoxious but the garage sale seller was lame, too, for both permitting that behavior and worse, by reneging on a deal that he had already agreed to do for $50.
When people have stuff for sale and they back off, it’s pretty frustrating. You handled it with class, man.

If you kept calling yugioh magic in front of me I wouldn’t have sold it to you at all 😂
The deal was sealed imo. He offered it to you for $20 and you explicitly said you would buy it for $20. At that point, if I was the seller, I would have told anyone else who was interested in buying that the item was sold.
Honestly was hoping Dawn suplexed her through the guys table 😂 but seriously your a good dude! She had me feeling uncomfortable and I’m just sitting on my couch.
I’m glad we kept it civil ….and uncomfortable ;)
My guy made the right choice not selling that binder of yugioh 👍🏻
That woman came in with some entitlement like they looked at them 20min ago so they have a right to it. Then it bothered her so much kid didn’t want them so she could push you out, she tried anyway by discouraging the sale. WHAT A SICK PERSON !
He literally offered you the binder for 50 and the Pokemon for 20 then suddenly changed his mind. Those were his prices. I hope he didn't sell them after that, to be frank. I hate people who make you an offer and then reneg.
That’s why when they give you a price and it seems good you take it and leave quickly. He stuck around and flap his gums too much lol but honestly I don’t think he missed out on much.
Re-nig
Wow definitely an awkward situation and it shouldn’t have been..she should not feel that she could just interrupt you and think they had “first dibs” on any items and the seller needs to let them know that..but I understand his perspective it was probably more about being anti-conflict
Bros mashing them cards up how he's flicking through them even I was twitching 😅
That seller was weird. He also changed his price after he initially gave you one. He said $50 for the Yugioh cards including the small deck and $20 for all the Pokémon cards. He then told the lady $10 for all the Pokémon cards. And when you said $60 all together he back tracked and took the small deck out.
Speak up for yourself man. Biggest problem with this country nowadays is people are to scared to stand up for themselves... screw her
In this case…I agree :) it’s tough to fight your nature…I’m non confrontational naturally.
A few takeaways for me... First off, that Karen was definitely rude and it was nice that you just let her be. Secondly, I applaud your sincerity and kindness towards the guy even after he backtracked on his agreement with you for the Yu-gi-oh cards. Lastly, I would be careful on how you look through/rummage decks and binders. The way you flipped through the deck looked like you were potentially bending cards. I'm an avid Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh card collector and would have felt very uncomfortable selling my cards to you as well, but at least you admit you didn't really know what you were doing/buying.
She was definitely out of line. I Would have lost it...
I would off tell her something, not on my watch b. Gawd dayumm people like her piss me dafuq off.
Sorry, but I would have put her in her place real quick, politely of course.
The only thing that messed up the deal was not getting your money out and buying it when he gave prices.
What’s up Carrie? First off, that was definitely a strange yard sale situation for sure haha. Second off, when looking at YuGiOh cards it’s all about what sets the cards are from and the foiling. Anything shiny from the original legacy packs (first 12 or so sets ever of YuGiOh) are what you want to look out for. There are tons and tons and tons of reprints of these original cards, but cards from the original sets still hold value. Look out for stuff from LOB, MRD, PSV, LON, LOD, MRL etc etc
Will do! Thanks for the insight. I honestly was cool at $50 to learn…there is a ton to learn with all tcg stuff
I second this. As well as super shiny, or fan favorite characters.
The only thing I know is to look out for a gold shiny square at the bottom? What does that mean? I have a few. What does LOB and all that mean? If you don't mind sorry lol. I have a bunch of the cards and trying to figure it out
@@KT-on5nj so LOB stands for the Legend of Blue Eyes white Dragon. If I'm not mistaken that was the 1st ever set to be released.
Containing cards such as the Dark Magician, Red eyes black Dragon, the 5 peices of Exodia the Forbidden one. And of course the Blue Eyes White Dragon.
Like stated above all the older sets have been reprinted multiple times.
The gold square in the bottom corner is a great indicator that its 1st edition. It will also have 1st edition on the card as well.
Reprints will have a silver square and not say 1st edition. Reprints are usually referred to as "unlimited".
If it's an older set, a fan favorite card or a higher rarity like an ultra or secret rare then a reprint can still hold some value.
Thank you!!
So much respect with how you gave the yugioh guy advice even when he went back on the deal. Class act. I usually tell people I resell too- especially my local estate sale companies. I build up a relationship with them and they usually give me some wiggle room on pricing even on the first day.
The Yu-Gi-Oh binder was worth $200+ EASILY. And the lady he was saying was rude wasn’t even that bad. This dudes just a weird little con man 😂🤣
just a tip, as a magic and yugioh player i would get a bit mad at seeing someone handling my cards that roughly, whenever you get trading cards in your hands i suggest you treating them as if they were made out of porcelain, especially watch out for the edges of the cards not to scratch them or "force" shuffling them. just be careful.

That person was a Karen but even the seller was annoying. They said $50 for deck and card book and should have held on the price.
Disappointing of Karen and seller
Heartbreaking..... those cards would have been great.
Omg i don't like confrontation either BUT that was unacceptable and i would have said something. She went too FAR 😮
I should’ve said something for sure
I would definitely watch how I sell my collectables to a “flipper” smh this gave me so much anxiety… poor seller lol
Neither of you knew what you were looking at or dealing with
You made me cringe talking about shiny and grading. If you thought it was a good deal on the binder you should have went for it and stopped going back and forth flipping through the cards. You could tell the seller was uncomfortable with you “coaching” him on maximizing profits, a topic you know little about such as the Yugioh TCG. Your loss and glad he held on to them. That Gate Guardian in there was minimum $50 in that condition and if first edition $350+ raw. You were more cringe than Dawn IMO.
Yeah I mean apparently 9 years plus experience gets you that I guess. Frankly, it felt like he was being cheap, which to be fair is a hard habit to break
Here’s the thing about filming your negotiations….they are you, imperfect and real. I did what I do, if you think I’m cringe or Dawn for some reason…so be it :). Ultimately your thoughts on the negotiations…could be picked apart, much like a video can…but why bother, eh?
This one wasn’t really about being cheap…sometimes it is for sure. This was me not being sure of the item, no picker has encyclopedic knowledge. I definitely should’ve approached it differently…but it’s only stuff, and there is always another deal :)
That woman was dismissive towards you and gestured her daughter to cut in line. What a bad example to her daughter.
Never come near my binders and never even look the direction of my pokemon collection
That dude doesnt have money..NO WAY is he gonna spend 20 bucks to gave a card graded
Man I feel bad. I feel like you had you're time wasted.
Also applaud the effort of not losing your cool. That would have bugged the hell out of me
It was annoying for sure…and weird
$50 was a bargain for that binder of Yuigoh! So many iconic old school cards that are now worth quite a bit. I find it annoying how he had it out there and then decided not to sell it just cuz you would resell and make a profit. Which also makes no sense how he has an urgency for money but no urgency to sell 🤦🏽♂️
he did the right thing.
1. his binder was getting JACKED UP by someone who admittedly didnt know what they were.
2. the guy told him, to his face, that he was buying them at a bargain to “FLIP” for more money.
yeah, id say those 2 things combined screwed him out of the sale. KarenMom is a scapegoat. if he’d been quicker to negotiate instead of thumb-f’ing his binder mindlessly for 5 minutes he would have scored.
He prob had his binder out to sell singles not the whole thing for 50 bucks 😂
